Prior to the touchscreen becoming unresponsive I had the message "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." repeat until I was able to quickly power it off. Despite being more customizable Android isn't as good a UI as iOS. I won't turn this into an Android vs iOS argument but from nearly equal experience with both (4 Android and 5 iOS) I've had much better experience with the latter. It seems like an asus problem not an android problem and bad luck.
I remember seeing someone mention earlier in the thread about an app that is basically netflix for magazines. Does anyone know what the name of it is and whether I can use it in the UK? Thanks
Indeed. He should buy a product that has never had any kind of product issues. Like nothing ever.I won't turn this into an Android vs iOS argument
This is what he did not want.... Its a problem if Google launch a product thats not fully tested and has build quality issues. If I spend my money on the latest and greatest piece of kit it need to work.

I never really looked till now, but the new nexus does not support Google wallet. Looks like they did not put the secure element on the NFC chip so it will never work. That seems kinda dumb since the first one could do it.
Anyone able to get .gifs on GAF to play smoothly on this thing? Tried Chrome, Dolphin and AOSP browsers and no luck so far. Is Firefox worth a shot or is it fruitless..
maybe they only want phones to support it?
Gifs worked fine for me in Firefox iirc.

Unfortunately almost all my Android devices have. They weren't minor issues either, such as when once in a while the sound on my iPhone won't work unless I have a headset attached. Rubbing alcohol alleviates the issue. That's different from a defective touchscreen, randomly restarting, random error messages, software defects (Verizon upgraded me to an Incredible S because I could not longer receive text messages or voicemails on my Incredible) and sluggish performance.Indeed. The first three were HTC. The Droid Eris was a POS and the Droid Incredible performed poorly. Incredible S was a significant improvement.Have all your android experience been with asus? Just wondering..
Essentially this. I want to like Android, but the features and quality control for me never match the slick technology.I won't turn this into an Android vs iOS argument

Nope, not on Apple. And regarding other devices: My Wii U has never restarted randomly nor has my Kindle had random error messages pop up. You're being defensive. While you're right these happen on other devices (especially computers), never have any had these sort of issues from the beginning, except for my ASUS (!) laptop shutting down when I closed the lid. I was able to fix it by updating a driver. Many of my poor experiences with Android seem adherent to the OS based on the similar problems across platform.and all of those issues happen on every device ever.
You mean through boot loader? I probably should have at least tried, but from what I had read it requires a return. Already unhappy with my purchase, it was the final straw. I didn't want to fight it to work the way I wanted.Did you try a full factory reset yet?

I will second that...
I just got my new nexus 7 and im wondering what is the best pdf reader app for it?
On the previous nexus 7 i used Radeaa but it seems to not support the new nexus 7.

Did see the word my in the post? I never said it doesn't happen to other people. It's never happened to me.

I'm always on my N7 now. Love this thing. I just wish the battery life was somewhat better. I'm also worried this thing is becoming a Simpsons Tapped Out toy for my wife lol.
Why is the bottom right speaker also a magnet
most electronic speakers have magnets in them, thats how they operate
Touché. I should have worded that more precisely. Still, frequency is important to consider.
Restarts are happening again on my second device. At least one a day. I'm very impressed by everything else about this device but if this keeps up it's gonna get tiring to be reading a book or listening to a podcast wondering when it's going to suddenly show me the Google logo.
So I'm a dummy and don't know where my Nexus 7 tablet is. I have tried that Android Device Manager and it says "Location Unavailable". I'm wondering if it was stolen is there any way the culprit can turn off the tracker?

Kindle works perfectly for me.
Uh i don't think that's possible, just tried to open one of my PDFs with it. I just use Adobe reader.
What do you mean that it's "[not] possible"? I've used Kindle app as PDF reader on multiple Android devices, and it works fine - better than any other PDF reader app I've tried, in fact.
