Was thinking about getting ipad mini, but now considering nexus because its 130$ cheaper.
Quick question, does the nexus load mobile sites automatically? Is there an option to turn it off?
Apple conf. made nexus browsing experience look horrible, how is it?

There is a toggle, you can ask any browser to auto request the desktop sites permanently. So you just set that setting and forget it. And web browsing is swift and perfectly fine on the N7, Apple was just doing their jobs, trying to make the competition look incapable.

I think they should give 16 GB early adopters another 25$ play store credit. Really bothers me that it only took two months. I love the device but man I could use those other 16 gigs.
they need to do no such thing. that is ridiculous, especially considering these more recent devices dont get the credit at all.

things get upgraded, its something you have to deal with when you are an early adopter.

After a year, maybe. But a few months down the line just feels like I've been kinda screwed over. I couldn't have cared less about the credit if I'd have known I could've got double the storage and 3G for very little more if I'd waited 12 more weeks or so.

That'll teach me for being an early adopter.

Has the defective units that were around few months ago been phased out? I had one back in june but returned it due to ghosting have any of these issues been fixed?

I'm trying out a cutsom ROM, since I'm new to android this is my first. Oddly my favorite feature of it is that it has this stock jellybean browser on it. :lol This sucker is FAST, I wish chrome flew by like this.

Just know that when you do that you will have a harder time upgrading (although its easy to revert) because ota updates require your /system folder to be clean.

Will the 3G version work on Verizon, or will it not work on CMDA? if it works, debating whether to get the 3G version or whether to tether with my phone. Any thoughts?

I suppose that to revert you just need to delete the browser apk and rename the files back to their original names, am I right?

Fuck Canada!

Future Shop and Bust buy still list the 16gb at $259.99.

The best deal I can get is $20 back by price comparing to Staples.ca which has the price at $239.99.

----

I was waiting for the price drop. Think I might jump in now, Just have to decide between the 16 gig and 32 gig models.

Is there anything to watch out for in terms of hardware defects still?

Just wait for the 64gb model in January.

And now Best Buy Canada drops the 16gb to $239.99.

Thanks for the savings. Debating whether or not to bother after work. I'll get $20 back.

Sometimes I notice one line of pixels that flicks one moment and then comes back to the normal. The odd thing is that it only happens with Chrome. Someone had this problem too?

Hey, I'm thinking about getting a Nexus 7, but I don't know much about Android environment. What is the alternative to apple's itunes or amazon's video store for videos? I want to buy a few tv shows for the tablet but I honestly have no clue where to get it. Or could I watch videos from Amazon store on it, too?

Does anyone know how to print stuff on your printer using Nexus 7?

It's all under the Google Play store.

Download the flash apk.
Download a browser that supports flash.
Watch all the porn you'll ever need.

Thanks! Do I have to root it to do these things? Sorry, I'm an android noob.

Looks like it will arrive today instead of tomorrow, which means most of my afternoon will be completely wasted lol

What are downsides to rooting? What about when 4.2 comes out?

I used OTA Root Keeper when upgrading from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 and had no issues whatsoever. Just run the app once rooted and then again once the OS update has installed and it will restore the root in a second.

No disadvantages of rooting that I can think of, just plenty of advantages!

I apologize for sounding dumb, but what is exactly the advantages of rooting? I imagine it's like jailbreaking?

I'm rooted... now what do I do?

Does the flash only work with firefox beta? I don't like the beta ribbon on the app

How is drawing/sketching on the Nexus 7 with a microfiber capacitive stylus?

It's not the only reason I'd want one, there is a lot of reasons I want one including web browsing, video watching, and playing games, but it would be fun to do random sketching on it too, for fun or practice or whatever.

I've seen videos of drawing on the nexus 7 and it for some reason seems like the screen is lagging behind, which doesn't make sense.. I can draw on my phone, which is much less powerful then Nexus 7, and it doesn't lag behind at all. So I'm wondering if maybe those people just had lots of apps running in the background or if Nexus 7 has a weird screen that causes that.

Originally I was planning to get iPad mini because I really wanted to get some games that are only on iOS, but after the Nexus price drops were announced... i just can't get it anymore, it's too big of a difference, $200 base price, and 50 more for 32GB.. yeah.. can't resist that, I'll feel like I'm ripping myself off now if I get an iPad Mini. :p

Edit: or even, just drawing with your finger too, that's cool. I'm just curious to know if it lags like I've seen in videos or not.

Man I'm struggling with purchase decisions. I'm such a tech whore that I really have a hard time not having the newest model of something. Being this many months into the N7's life cycle is making me hesitate on purchase. I want a Nexus 10, but I also want to try out the 7" form since I haven't yet (except with girlfriend's Kindle Fire which I put Jellybean on; runs fine but I don't want to judge 7" tablets based on that).

Does Walmart have live models of these to try?

To be completely honest you can count that Kindle Fire as an Android Tablet. It's missing some key features but it's basically what you can expect out of that form factor. Except for resolution and such.

Staples has both the Nexus 7 and Kindle HD to try out if that is an option. At least mine does, I'd call up first just to check.
