I promised so here are some of the minimalistic text configs i used:

http://threi.minus.com/mvitYrumD/

um they are specific to my phone so...yeah. I couldn't tell you if the app ones will work. If you have the same apps installed though then i don't see why not. The JumpTo___ ones should work for the first four screens of nova launcher if you use that.

Just throw all of them into the MinimalisticTextPreferences folder in the internal memory. (just press the download all link in minus to get all of em zipped up)

So I just got my Nexus 7 today. The screen is really really yellow. Is anyone else's like this, or is it me? Here's a picture of my Nexus 7 in the Kindle app, and my Kindle Fire in the Kindle app (Kindle is on the left):

Mine doesn't seem that yellow. So what's the trick to hiding the bottom menu? I'd love to be able to hide it when reading comics for the extra space.

Just grabbed the comixology app off of ios just for comparisons sake, and it runs like a dream. Very touch responsive, pinch to zoom works without an issue, and it doesn't crash when entering or exiting a new page while in guided view. Shame the Android version is so unstable, cause I've got $60 worth of comics on there that can be a bit of a chore to read when the app goes screwy. I'll probably rate the app in hopes that enough people on N7's chime in so they address these issues
They know of the issues (page turns black for mine) with the Nexus 7. Probably will fix it next update. Worked perfectly on my CM9 Nook Color.

Cartman86 posted this excellent guide a few pages back:

Be aware, though, that older comics won't fit the aspect ratio of the screen as well as newer comics, they're closer to 4:3, so you'll have to do a bit of scrolling if you fit it to fullscreen.

Welcome to LCD.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of homescreens on this device without switching launchers? Inquiring minds want to know.

Nope.

Yeah mine is yellow next to the (supposedly relatively accurate) new iPad. Edit: not as noticeable as above pics though. I'm not really complaining, looks fine by itself.
For reference the new iPad looks yellow compared to the iPad 2 which skews blue.

Has anyone come across any docks that use the connection? Its not big of a hassle tonplug the the thing in, but if have a dock is be more willing to use this as an alarm clock. Not that I cant currently do that but then all I would have to do is look up for the time instead of getting up.

The Walking Dead is amazing on this. Like I'm actually holding a graphic novel in my hand when the case is on. Blasted through like 10 volumes in the last few days.

I have a couple of questions:

  • How fast can you type on one of these? Whenever I've tried to type at normal speeds on Android devices previously, the software keyboard has always struggled to keep up, would this be likely to be a problem here?
  • Is there a particular case that anyone would recommend that as well as protecting the device can hold it at the appropriate angle for the aforementioned typing?
  • What's the battery life likely to be like, given a situation where the display is on all the time and tweets are being typed perhaps every minute or so?
  • If the software keyboard can't cope, is it possible to connect a regular keyboard to it with an adaptor (and if so, what adaptor would you need)? Or would a Bluetooth keyboard be necessary? Alternatively is there a case with a built-in keyboard?

Typing for me has been lightning quick with no discernible lag between finger presses and the letters appearing.
I went for a sleeve and completely avoided the case. The tablet has a rubber back and really only needs protection for travel.
I've found the battery life to last between 6-8 hours. In your case I'd imagine it to last around 7ish hours with light use.

The left side of the screen creak is here guys! I hadn't noticed it because of the way I hold it but its definitely there. I'll see if I get a chance to pop it open later and put a washer in there since that seeems to be the problem.

Ill probably make mine start creaking just by looking for the creak constantly >_<

All the photons bouncing off your eyes are loosening it up.

I demand people start complaining about these two feet usb cables companies include with their products. It's bullshit. I long for the days of six foot power cords so I can use my device while it's charging.

I fukken knew it....

it's the heat of the qaud core that causes the screen to rise methinks.

I noticed theres a "thing" between the actual metal and screen keeping the ipad 3 from falling apart...

look closely it's there.

freaking A would have kept mine if it wasn't for this "creak"....

still Nexus 7 less though atm

Asus said their audio dock is coming sometime this summer.

5 days in or so and I am still 100% happy with it. I am now a total tablet guy but I think 7" in the sweet spot for me.

So on top of the yellow, my screen is now creaking. I'm going to be calling google when I get home. I've heard that they know about the issue and are sending out replacements as soon as they are called about it, and I can send this one back when I get the new one.

Kind of irritating, but no big deal, the yellow actually makes the kindle app look like a page effect. However I am looking forward to a replacement.

Outside of those somewhat major issues, the tablet feels fantastic in the hand and the software really is buttery smooth.

It's dumb that the default clock app doesn't have a timer or stopwatch.

Any recommendations for a better clock app?

Just got off the phone with a Google Play Store specialist. She was helpful, and all I had to tell her was that I had a really yellow screen and heard creaking and she set me up to get a replacement. And I can hold on to this until I get my replacement.

Not bad of an experience at all, but my second one better be perfect.

Took some shitty pics of the Moko case. I really like it aside from the smart cover glitch where it turns off when you hold the cover against the back of the N7. Theyre fixing it and sending me a free replacement so I cant complain. Just glad to have this thing protected in the meantime.

Yeah, I have Roocase(which is basically the same thing as the moko case) for my Transformer and it's super handy and doesn't add much bulk at all. Its' really nice.

I like that case, but I'm already into the rooCASE. Plus have the standard 'sock' like case to use the n7 naked.

Great pics! I might switch to Moko as it looks thinner.

Thanks for the pics.

I bought a Blurex and Moko case and both were defective. Blurex has a replacement on the way and Moko has given me a choice of 6 cases to pick from as a replacement. I've narrowed it down to 3 including what looks like the one in your pics.

The yellow screens probably aren't going to be fixed with a replacement. This happens with so many device releases. I think it's the nature of these LCDs. I'm content with mine. I drove myself crazy over iPads in the past until I realized almost all of them look the same. If you're comparing it to a different display you're always going to be unhappy with the newer one.

Yeah, I switched over to lmt's pie after using button savior for a few days. The fact that it's got two levels and customizable long press settings gives it an edge over button savior, not to mention the gestures

I kinda wish when you were using full screen things, like watching vids, that the 'software buttons' or whatever you call them, would pop up only when you touched the screen.

they do? At least if the app is programmed to take advantage of it, thats exactly what happens.
