"I respect coach Fox and I respect the offensive coordinators that have been here. But at the same time I'm a wide receiver. Run blocking is not my forte," Smith said Saturday following the two-hour Fan Fest at Bank of America Stadium.
"It is nice to have layers, have multiple sets, not to just be stacking to one spot for 70 plays. I get to line up in different spots. It's just refreshing. It's not saying, 'Well, we're going to move you around,' and then never do it. Here they're actually saying it and it's happening. It's not just me. It's other guys as well."
...
Smith, 32, says he heard talk that he had lost a step. But he suggested Saturday his lack of production was related to the unimaginative scheme employed by Fox and former offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson.
"When you're sitting on the outside for 70 plays, standing on the left trying to run around the linebackers pressing and a corner over the top, and a safety over the top, and the other linebacker buzzing. And sitting there and I'm told I'm losing a step and he's not catching as much and all that stuff," Smith said. "It's real refreshing now because in the offense now I can move around."
Smith predicted Fox's staff would respond by saying Smith's inability to retain information limited the ways they could use him.
...
"The quarterbacks are doing what has not been done around here in a long time. The philosophy in years past has been not to screw it up," Smith said. "And here it's put your foot down on the gas pedal and go hard. So I like that."

A CHALLENGER APPROACHES!
Seriously though, Anderson may be trash but is there any doubt he's the best QB on their roster right now?
Are you high?BigAT said:Seriously though, Anderson may be trash but is there any doubt he's the best QB on their roster right now?
Tell me who is better than him right now. The guy who has never taken an NFL snap, missed rookie minicamp and is just now starting to learn his offense with the handicap of having never played in an anything even close to an NFL offense in his life? Clausen and his 1:3 TD/INT ratio?Buckethead said:Are you high?

That's how bad Anderson is.
Awesome, the d-line should look so much better this year. Now if we just had some depth at OLB...GQman2121 said:Shaun Ellis just signed a one-year deal with New England. Ugh.....

They're laughing at the Cardinals for paying him to be a quarterback in the NFL.

Does anyone know how much Newton earns compared to Clausen?
Edit: Googled it myself, Clausen only makes $3,16 Million over four years. Forgot how far he fell.
Mike Reiss said:1. Expected to see Patriots second-year outside linebacker/defensive end Jermaine Cunningham flash a bit more to this point in training camp. In rush drills, he has been blocked easier than I thought he would be.

EDIT: Beaten like Brandon Merriweather after being very out of position due to freelancing.
He's a good edge rusher, and having Ellis and Haynesworth taking up space on the line will definitely help. I wouldn't worry too much about it, I'll wait to see how he looks in preseason games before calling him a bust.TheFatOne said:This worries me. I really expected Cunningham to improve this season, but all reports on him so far have been negative.
