PC gaming? No thank you.
Become part of the master race (cue Ez). It's nice and warm on this side.;)

49ers haven't really faced a lot of high powered offenses, shy of the erratic Eagles.
High powered pass attack you mean? The Giants rank as the better passing team. #5 in the NFL right now. Have a higher red zone percentage and more big plays through the air (I'd have to check the last one to be sure but I remember that being the case a little earlier in the season) than the Eagles.

On Football Outsiders the top 5 Defenses in the League are:

2. NYJ
3. JAC
4. DET
5. CHI

Surprised SF isn't in the top 5.
Despite Leonhard's rape and a no-huddle we had no counter for, the only thing left we (generally) do really well is stop the passing game. I can't see how we are ranked so high overall.

We give up a ton of yards, so it makes sense. Jacksonville is a surprise to me, but then I seen they haven't had a QB with 100+ passer rating this season? That defense desperately needs an offense.

Oh yeah, and Football Outsiders is trash.

Bears give up a ton of yards as well, especially in the passing game. Part of it is the scheme, part of it is inexperience in the secondary. Our defense isn't stellar, but I'm glad it's not the trash it was in the first 5 weeks.

(On PC gaming, it sucks that it's such a sunk cost to get started. Parts can be gotten for reasonable prices and upgraded, but when you dont even have a desk/monitor/or even a keyboard/mouse..quite an investment. Slowly saving up though. Maybe someday.)

how is Detroit on there? What? Chicago? Houston is better than both those teams. Jax? We just took a dump on their defense. Our defense is better than all three of those. The fact that houston and San Fran aren't on that list makes it a...

Yeah our run-d has been horrible this year.

If we had 1 big pass rusher I think that would help with the no huddle. Maybin has been good but not great.

Niners are first in the two most important defensive stats; total points allowed and injuries inflicted.

Not to derail too much but how much do you think you have to spend? $400 is enough to get a good starter PC that can play most anything better than consoles can anymore.

those lists take into account the quality of your opponents. holding down the potent colts and jaguars offenses twice this season doesn't really mean much.

Big fucking joke. I just came here to post those same two oversights.

Not if you want good parts. Plus why waste 400 and get an outdated system.
I say a good machine starts around 800 bones.

that being the case I'm fine with consoles. I hardly buy any games at 59.99 anyway.

math, how does it work?

Its adjusted for strength of opponent, but you can take your panties out of a bunch as HOU is 6th on that list.

And 1st overall this week in team DVOA.

Detroit's defense is 4th against the pass but 27th against the run. That doesn't make any sense at all for them to be up there.

You are really adamant on trolling, and you aren't very good at it. I would troll the Ravens, but I think the Seahawks did a great job this weekend.

Disagree but this is the last I'll mention it so we don't derail the thread. Budget PC can be had for $400-500 that can be upgraded later if you spend your money the right way. Budget doesn't necessarily mean crap parts.

Now, where is the week 11 thread?!

I don't even have a desk, not to imagine I bet a decent monitor would cost 50 bare minimum, a good keyboard and mouse would be about the same if I wanted something that wasn't crap.
heh, gotcha. Just curious.

We bounce in and out of the Top 5 because of pass yards given up. Honestly, when we're 1st against rush ypg, 1st in red zone, 1st in takeaways and 1st in points allowed per game, yards don't matter one bit.

You can argue it all you want, but I just have to ask this: What's the records of the above 5 teams? And what's the Niners? Scene.

Also the Niners have played against 4 of the Top 10 (5 of the Top 15!) passing offenses in the league, so there goes the argument that we haven't played good offenses either.

Some choice quotes from an article about John Fox (lookin like a boss at his desk, not giving a damn) on NFL.com:

j_fox_111115_WIDE.jpg

"Do whatever the hell it takes," he laughed. "I mean, what the hell? You don't get points for style in this league. Let me tell you something: My man is really good in this offense. You know what I mean?

"If we were trying to run a regular offense, he'd be screwed."

...

"After the loss to Detroit (a 45-10 blowout), we decided if Tim is going to be our guy, we can't do that other crap," Fox said. "We had to tweak it."

...

"Check out 91," says Fox, pointing toward Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali. "He's a great rusher, but look how he has to play. He can't even rush. He's just sitting there waiting. He's reading the option.

"What he does against conventional teams is rush the passer. Well, we don't have a passer. We have a runner. Not to say he can't pass at all, but we're recognizing his strengths."

Hey, at least he's straight up about it. I like it when coaches don't give the usual "canned" responses.

This new Fox is very weird to me. In Carolina, it was 9 seasons of "It is what it is", "We choose a bad day to have a bad game", and "He gives us the best chance to win."

Just...just...be gentle.

Shame you didn't bold this.

Neutralize a defender without even blocking him, it's simply numbers.

It'll be interesting to watch what they do this week, and what counters they have in place to screw with defensive adjustments and assignments because teams will be more prepared.

If Tebow could only throw better, then teams would really be in a bind.

Sadly, they don't have to neutralize our pass rush. :-(

Thanks for the clarification but can you believe Poole being out hurt us so much? Crazy. Ah well, on to Denver.
Every DB the jets have is important. The way they switch DBs out is a huge reason why the secondary is as strong as it is.

The Jets need to win out and hope that the AFC North gets only 1 wildcard.

If the Jets don't see any improvement in the offense for the rest of the season look for there to be MAJOR changes next year.

I don't think this will be a problem against the Jets. Rex will bring pressure (as usual) and dare Tebow to throw against Wilson/Cro/Revis. That'd be the best way (IMO) to beat the read.

I haven't seen Denver at all this year so this should be fun. Do DC's in college run zone blitzes with athletic ends? Would be fun to see what Tebow does in those instances.

Wasn't Rors supposed to make the Week 11 thread? If it isn't made within a few hours, I'm gonna do it, and it's just gonna be this week's slate, no bells and whistles. So if you guys want a quality Week 11 OT, get on Rors ass!

Here's my interpretation

1. "Look at how clever I am. I've made adjustments based on the personnel I have and it's wild and crazy and I'm a genius"

2. "But I'm only doing it b/c our QB is bad. If this fails, it's not my fault. All I can do is be awesome and smart and put him in position to succeed."

3. "Again, if it works, it's b/c I'm so awesome and smart. If it doesn't work, it's b/c Tebow sucks and so does the guy who drafted him and gave me this mess.

...I can't say I'd disagree with any of that.

Rors or Migs, make the gotdamn new thread! Doooooo it.

Migs if you do it, maybe Schaub will come back!

Rors if you do it, DMC might come back!

I would say its the other way around. Earlier especially, people force panthers to throw the ball by run blitzing and stacking the box. Newton took the advantage of having a good running game.

6th overall avg and 8th for total.

Even saints have a running threat. I would say only Packers and Patriots are one dimensional truly. And the only teams with passing so good that can get away with it. Especially your team
For the purposes of my argument I'd want to see ratio of run to pass (discounting scrambles). I have no idea if it bails me out or not and I am willing to say my argument was I'll-researched.

I'm hopeful they can meet the Niners again, and Bradshaw is in the ball game. The Giants had to become so one dimensional vs. them because Jacobs wasn't doing much on the ground (as usual this year) and Ware is, well, Ware.
