Didn't see much from Chris Long. I decided to watch the Rams' defensive end exclusively on the Cowboys' seven-play, 62-yard touchdown drive right after Elam's fumble recovery. Rookie right tackle Tyron Smith won all four matchups with Long on the drive, including once when he put Long on the ground, and again when he sealed a running lane near the goal line. Tight end Martellus Bennett held up fine in pass protection against Long on two other plays, including once when James Hall collected a sack from the other side of the line. Fiammetta, the fullback, picked up Long on Romo's quick touchdown pass to Witten.

Your 2011 Rams offensive line. At one point, I noticed Brown, the Rams' center, fall to the ground without a defender in the area. This seemed puzzling. I slowed down the play to see what happened. Brown snapped the ball and moved to his left. Right guard Harvey Dahl trailed him. Brown slowed and was in the way. Dahl shoved Brown in the back, knocking him down. Dahl did not block anyone else. Quarterback A.J. Feeley completed a pass to Michael Hoomanawanui for a first down to the other side, so everything worked out OK. But the lasting visual was seeing one Rams lineman knocking down another.

How are we 0-7?

John Kasay...why...:(
I was with you brother. I wanted to lynch Kasay along with the entire Patriots squad after that game. You may not have a Superbowl trophy to show for it, but if you are a religious man I can assure you that every victim of the Pats crimes over the last decade is going straight to heaven.

Pretending history is meaningless is the siren song of decrepit, irrelevant franchises.
Before the cutoff used to be Superbowls for what IS relevant but in another 20 years FMTs bastard kids will be posting on NeoNeoNeoGAF that if the championship was not filmed in High Def then it can no longer be used in any debate or discussion regarding the INFL (International National Football League). So Rodger's singular SB win (the historians will say he could have been the next Roethlisberger if his career was not ended by Jared Allen rushing for a TD to increase the Packers lead to 60 in the 4th quarter) will make the cut. But Brent's win won't.

Hey now, was this really necessary? None of our beat writers tweet when our players are taking a dump.

2001

Never forget. Never forgive.

Unfortunately this nation did forget and history repeated itself in 2004 when we suffered another national tragedy at the hands of those villains.

What are the odds lol. It's tough living in a city when you root for a divisional rival :p

Can't wait for this Sunday's game so I can talk smack all the way to the AFC South title.

He's FMT's boy.

Something new? He mentioned to a radio station and tweeted a few days ago that he didn't like being part of trade talks and felt unwanted.

Reid and him apparently talked it out yesterday or today.

I'd hold Andre out until the Browns game. Let that hammy heal for one more week. Then let him play that Browns game to get timing back etc, and have him ready to go in Week 10 against the Bucs. He won't be needed against the Jags.

I replied to Bowser about Larry English, little bit of an old joke. :p

From Geoff Mosher's twitter:

geoffmosher Geoff Mosher
Asante says he's cool with Reid but basically said Howie and Joe won't be on his Christmas card list.

geoffmosher Geoff Mosher
Asante also said the team called him in August to tell him he was on the trade block at camp.

geoffmosher Geoff Mosher
Asante said as long as he's paid on Tuesdays he will give it all to this team.

geoffmosher Geoff Mosher
Asante said guys playing "fantasy football with the owner's money" are ones that don't want him here. Names rhyme w/"Nose Men" & "Manner."

His supporting cast this year is a lot better than it was last year when he was throwing it to a bunch of scrubs. He may be injured, but I think the bigger issue is something's not right with him mentally. He's making a bunch of bad decisions and looks scared to make mistakes (which usually ends up in him making mistakes anyway). At times he also seems like he's forcing things when he shouldn't be. Don't know how you fix something like that, but I hope he snaps out of it soon.
What would have made Rivers like that? Do you think any of it has to do with losing Sproles?

I'm guessing it's the amount of picks that he's thrown early on and his confidence is a bit shaken. He had like 2 picks in 3 straight games, which had never happened to him before. Also, I'm sure throwing a pick to Wilfork Island can screw with a guy's mind. Early on he looked like he was trying too hard and forcing passes, but recently he's been holding on to the ball too long trying to play it safe. His timing and accuracy are off because of this.

Sproles being gone probably has a tiny bit to do with it as well. He was an excellent blocker despite his size; Tolbert and Mathews aren't up to that level yet. So again, that probably skews Rivers's timing a little.

Just heard this on the radio, but this never crossed my mind:

Under Norval, the Chargers' record vs Pats/Jets/Steelers/Ravens (post-season included)

2-10
Only wins came against Bradyless Pats and Ravens in 07.
Ughh.

There is so much talent on those teams it really is amazing that they aren't more successful.

Yeah, Norv does a horrible job at preparing this team for big games.

Agreed. But I'm sure by the time the owners get rid of AJ and Norv, the talent we have now will be past their primes. We'll be back to the way it was when they drafted Ryan Leaf.

Oh, if it means anything, Rivers says he's healthy:
sdutChargers S.D. U-T Chargers
Philip Rivers used the word "promise" when he assured me he is healthy.

Tell me about it. Personally, the past 5-6 years, their playoff losses have all occurred on my birthday weekend. Depressing.

The only silver lining I can see is the Chargers have consistently been in contention to win their division for like 7 years runnning...but nothing.

Honestly, the best parallel I can make for the Dallas Mavericks (pre-championship): year in and year out labled as "soft" and "weak," 11 straight seasons at 50 wins or better (football equivalent is pretty much 11-5), before finally breaking through relying on their "flawed" franchise player to power them through the playoffs. Realistically, I don't think the Chargers have it in them to pull off an amazing playoff run.

thats why people here in San Diego shit all over Norv Turner (RIGHTFULLY SO!) Norv inherited a 14-2 team and has since run them into the ground. Marty was fired cause he couldn't win a playoff game. Well Norv has won some playoff games but hasn't and I believe he never will reach the promised land.

You know what all those teams listed have in common. They are tough, mean, and nasty.

The only "ELITE" team the Chargers ever could win against were the Colts which shock is another finesse team.

Any other team that punched the Chargers in the mouth they couldn't deal with it.
Stupid penalties and massive choke jobs have plagued this team forever.

I swear they are cursed.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a Charger fan but I can understand the frustration the fans have. ( I've dealt with it the last 8 years as a 49er fan.)

Having the right Coach makes all the difference and Norv just isn't the right guy.

I agree I told my coworker when Norv took the Chargers job he was killing two teams simultaneously. I was right. :(

My Saints can't seem to beat the Ravens (could happen soon with Flacco playing like he is)
but they have at least beaten the Steelers, Pats, and Jets. Definitely not the finesse team of old. The chargers really have enough talent to flog those teams though, and should have done it several times. Norv must be really fucking horrible for that not to be so.
I didn't realize they had that kind of record against those four teams.
Also, why the hell haven't you guys kicked Nate Kaeding to the curb?

I don't wish injury on anyone, but I think it's a blessing in disguise that he got injured on the very first play of the season. Nick Novak's been perfect this season, and if the Chargers make it to the playoffs and Novak makes some clutch kicks, I bet Kaeding's gone in the offseason.

I honestly wish we still had Garrett Hartley healthy just to keep his confidence and consistency up, but John Kasay has been fantastic kicking for the Saints. Having two kickers on the roster kind of sucks, but at least Kasay is a veteran.

I would like to reiterate "Don't get me wrong I'm not a Charger fan!" I just have some perspective about them living in San Diego.

I can only guess that based on his regular season production the Chargers felt they had a great kicker. If they fired him who know knows what they would have gotten in his place?

Sometimes it is better to be with the devil you know then the devil you don't.

Though I agree, after the second Jets choke job Kaeding would have gotten the axe. He is damaged goods at this point.

Or it may be after the league starts testing for steroids/HGH and invalidates any championship derived from performance enhancing substances. So that would eliminate IX, X, XIII and XIV.

Looking back on those old super bowl logos, what the fuck were they thinking making all the future ones look exactly the same? I loved the super bowl 44 one, but after that it looks fucking lame. Some boring silver font in front of whatever the fuck stadium it is played at. fuck you NFL.

I dunno, I kind of like it. Some of the previous Super Bowl logos were terribly gaudy and ugly. The new logos are simple, elegant and classy.
