Joe Six-Pack: posting for the common man
ive never smoked pot but i don't really have a problem with it. still, you have to be a fucking idiot to possibly endanger your gravy train as a professional athlete. you can't just curb that shit for 5-10 years, or however long you plan to play football?

please, they get tested for non PEDs once a year. He's an idiot.

Pot makes some one look like a bad boy? Since when? Pot has a lazy layabout give-no-fucks stigma to it, not some hard ass wanna be thug gangsta stigma.

Seriously, how hard is it to wait until you're drug tested and then smoke all the pot you want? They only get tested once a year, so once you're clear of that, go crazy. I mean yeah, there's a chance they don't get tested until December, but you're telling me he can't put off smoking a little green for a couple of months? That's the sign of an addiction. Banning pot is dumb, but potentially throwing away millions of dollars cause you can't lay off for a couple of months is even dumber.

Well, I just hope it's not the symptoms of a greater problem.

He was out partying with you on your birthday wasn't he? Shouldn't make a guy dd, if he doesn't have a license!

I wish we could party. For that matter, I play it like it any other day. Some good people, good sex, and some exercise.

They need to just ban Von from Miami during the off season. Make his ass stay in Denver all year. It's not the weed its the liquor and Molly and escorts fucking his life up. I've seen some pictures my friends from Miami showed me of him this summer looking like a fucking zombie

Von has a driver. You think these teams don't have limo services that players can call at a moments notice?

Dudes don't give a shit.

I'm pretty sure every player has a phone number they can call 24/7 and a driver will pick them up (and even their cars as well) for free, no questions asked. The NFL runs the program and offers it to everyone.

It's absolutely insane to me that any player manages to get a DUI when they have a service like that available to them.

Based on that Rolling Stone article, every team also has a crew of ex-cops following high value players around and keeping them out of trouble before it happens. I guess Denver just doesn't give a fuck about Von.

Thought they made a smartphone app for that. Maybe Von has a BlackBerry

Giants apparently signed a linebacker to their practice squad. A former Eagle, too. Emmanuel Acho. I know nothing about him but I heard Eagles fans were a bit miffed he didn't make the team over Casey Matthews..?

Don't overhype Michigan. Lunchbox has no girth. This explains the small Asian women fetish.

No ways does lunchbox get women. No one that is getting laid would go to the trouble of coming up with a fake internet persona. Especially not one as sad as his.

Acho had a great preseason, surprised it took him so long to find a team. A big part of Eagles fans being upset was with how bad Casey looked in the preseason. People wanted him cut no matter who they kept.

Patriots just have more experience and money to bend the rules to help them win.

This is the play that pissed me off most in the Titans game. Both Foote AND Timmons have Jackie Battle dead to rights behind the LOS and they both completely whiff:

Von, what is wrong with you man!? Bronco's will be turning into the AFC version of the Saints at this rate. All offense, no defense. Someone needs to stop Miller from spiraling out of control.

Well fans were upset because he had a pretty good preseason and everyone assumed he would make it over Casey Mathews especially since we are so thin at LB.

Chip still cut him and his reasoning is that he only wants to keep depth players who are willing to and will excel at multiple spots and special teams. Casey Mathews stinks but Chip believes he can play inside and outside plus he is a trooper who gives it his all on special teams.

Acho I guess wasn't as impressive on STs. Sucks I would have loved for them to sign him to the practice squad. Sucks even more that he ends up with the Giants.

Last night during my Madden 08 PC play time, the team I naturally gravitated towards picking was the Seahawks.... I think they may be my regular season team, but hell, maybe that will change the more I play. lol

I say regular season, because come playoff time, I guess I turn into a bandwagoner heh, I'll always try and find a team to root for that would be nice to win, because nothing beats sports playoffs. edit: that, and it keeps me happy and keeps stress levels low :p

Texans went up 2 spots after MNF?

1) After Denver the AFC is a clusterfuck at this point

2) Historically, Texans DO NOT come back in games like that. Has never happened. Says a lot. Are we world beaters? No but give credit where credit is due.

3) Its power rankings. I post them because it is a conversation peice

I don't get what Timmons is trying to do here. It's as though he intentionally puts himself out of position to make the tackle. Awful angle taken, really. Just hit the hole.

Denver should pull an Atlanta and trade up to get Clowney.

No. He's good but we saw last week how a good line and protection from TE and RB, can neutralize a nasty dl. Not worth it in my opinion. Too many eggs in one basket.

I wish we had permanent ban bets. Not in reference to your post Star.

See point 2. Schaub gets ripped constantly by everyone, myself included, but he played damn good in that game. He was actually moving in the pocket and made some really good throws on the run. Almost has me convinced he was still injured last season from that lisfranc injury.

Shouldn't have had to run like that but for some reason Dwight Freeney gets excited to play him and Dwayne Brown got his shit pushed in.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if TB beats NO. Certainly not predicting it, but they played NO at home close last season, TB is a much better defense than ATL, and it's a divisional road game. NFC South divisional tilts are pretty evenly matched most of the time, for example last year:

CAR @ TB 10-16
CAR vs NO 35-27
CAR @ ATL 28-30
CAR vs TB 21-27 OT
CAR vs ATL 30-20
CAR @ NO 44-38
TB vs NO 28-35
TB vs ATL 23-24
TB @ NO 0-41
TB @ ATL 22-17
ATL @ NO 27-31
ATL vs NO 23-13

So besides the bolded clunker blowout, every other divisional tilt last year was decided by 10 or less points.

I couldn't believe that play when I saw it live.

Terribad tackling. Weird to see that on a Steelers team.

Larry Foote - who's out the season with injury, called the plays for the Steelers defense. Now Timmons will be doing that while (presumably) Kion Wilson gets up to speed.

Timmons has been a starter for years. Why only now when their hand is forced via injury?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9661335/roger-goodell-add-von-miller-denver-broncos-ban-citation

Because Miller was arrested in August on a failure to appear warrant, his latest stumble could land him in more trouble with the league if Goodell is inclined to invoke the league's conduct policy.

Goodell has repeatedly said he would take a more stern approach with what he called "repeat offenders.'' The fact Miller was cited during a suspension has certainly been noticed by league and Broncos executives.

Goodell also doesn't have to wait for a conviction or public admission of guilt from the player or league official to invoke the policy. To that end, the policy reads; "it is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime. Instead, as an employee of the NFL or a member club, you are held to a higher standard and expected to conduct yourself in a way that is responsible, promotes the values upon which the League is based, and is lawful.''

The Broncos had no official comment Wednesday.

When it comes to the Broncos there is already precedent for a substance-abuse suspension paired with a personal conduct suspension. Last season, linebacker D.J. Williams was suspended six games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and Goodell added three more games for violating the personal conduct policy for multiple DUI-related arrests several years apart.

Dumb, dumb, dumb

Timmons is about as smart as a rock right?

Didn't you call him a rock head, though? I though someone did in the last thread.

Timmons is about as smart as a rock right?

That's the popular thinking yeah. For me most of that was because before Sunday the Steelers never even thought about letting him handle the calls. Now he's the guy.

Seems like they wanted experience at all costs. Both Foote and Farrior were calling the
D before Timmons evens arrived. But that begs the question - how long did they expect to trot Foote out there? He had a surprisingly good season last year, but he was never built for the position and he's 33 years old.

Didn't you call him a rock head, though? I though someone did in the last thread.

It was me. I'm worried that we'll see a comedy of errors on Monday against the Bungles.

edit: on D. Offense can't get much more laughably bad.

i don't know where this narrative came from. Maybe the belief that schaub cant do it? they did it twice last year. And they did it a shit load in 2010, only the defense would give it up after the offense got them the lead.

Should have been more clear: never done it and actually won. Never forget Ravens @ Texans 2010 MNF.....

Whatever the case, we're going to need to get another pass rusher. Von is proving he's not reliable, and after losing Dumervil, we need someone to lean on.

Shaub never had a 4th quarter comeback in his career before Monday night? That seems crazy to me.

Like Captive said, comeback and win. Also add in point difference overcome. Until 2011 our defense was really bad. Like historically bad during the Kubiak era

A rough opening week for NFL officials continues.

Dean Blandino, NFL vice president of officiating, said Tuesday on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access," that the wrong call was made when Chargers defensive tackle Cam Thomas was penalized 10 yards for unnecessary roughness after making contact with Texans long snapper Jon Weeks..

The penalty took a field goal off the board and awarded the Texans a first down from the Chargers' 9-yard line. Houston scored a touchdown on the next play from scrimmage to cut San Diego's lead to 28-21. The Texans went on to win, 31-28.

"No, this was not a correct call. This is not the intent of the rule as it was written," Blandino explained. "The rule is to protect the snapper on a field goal or extra point from a direct forcible blow to the head or neck area, or with the crown/forehead/hairline parts of the helmet to the body. It was not designed to prohibit any contact with the snapper, which is what happened on this play."

Blandino broke down the play on video and explained that incidental contact between Thomas and Weeks should not have been ruled a foul. It was an error that led to four points for the Texans.

"It's a judgment call by the umpire, he's looking at that, and in his judgment, he felt that it was enough for a foul," Blandino said. "And in our review today, we felt that it was not."

Blandino's acknowledgment comes two days after referee Bill Leavy mistakenly awarded the San Francisco 49ers an extra down in a key situation during their Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers. Like the Texans, the 49ers took advantage of the officiating error, scoring a touchdown on the next play.

Blandino -- who's been quite outspoken of late -- also said Monday that officials were wrong to call a personal foul on 49ers left tackle Joe Staley during the scrum that preceded the touchdown.

Bring back the replacement refs!

Imagine Timmons trying to call the defense against a smart qb like Peyton or AFraud.
