Security will be bulked up for Sunday’s game between the Raiders and 49ers at O.co Coliseum, including undercover officers wearing the gear of each team.

The Raiders issued a news release Wednesday saying there will be a “substantial increase” of uniformed officers from the Oakland Police Department and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, as well as extra undercover officers and private security staff.

The two teams used to meet once a year in the preseason. But that rivalry was halted after a 2011 game at Candlestick Park at which two men were shot, two others were severely beaten and that featured so many fistfights in the stands that officers could be seen running across the field from one outbreak to the next.

Sunday’s game will be the first regular-season meeting between the two teams since 2010, a 17-9 win for the 49ers, and the first at the Coliseum since the 2002 season, a 23-20 win in overtime for the 49ers.

Raiders fans long have had a reputation for unruly behavior, but 49ers fans have surpassed them in terms of violence. Ugly incidents occurred at an Arizona Cardinals-49ers game on Sept. 21 and two men were sent to the hospital after being assaulted in a Levi’s Stadium restroom prior to an Oct. 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Public safety is a top priority for the Raiders, O.co Coliseum, and local law enforcement and all are working diligently to ensure that fans enjoy a safe and secure environment,” the Raiders said in a statement.

That visual is hilarious.

Miami has to be one of the worst sports fanbases I've ever seen. It's like they have to be begged into caring even when they had Lebron and a championship.
