NFL 2014 Week 4 |OT| Hell is Empty and All The Devils Are Here

I like EJ as a guy and the day he was drafted I was rooting for him because of how his mom was battling cancer.

The guy could still have a chance to become better but usually you can tell with young QBs whether they have "it" to be successful in the NFL. I saw it in Staffords' first NFL game against New Orleans. There are some things you can't teach.

What is Robert Woods' deal and why is he USC receiver #39383838 to flop in the NFL.

Regardless of all that he shouldn't be sulking if he doesn't get the ball. Football teammate ethics 101.

Diva Wide Receivers are the worst.
I love how much you love your team/Stafford.

I feel that way about Jimmy G.

Sounds like he's sulking because the QB is terrible, not because he's not getting the ball.

Still, EJ is a young guy and if Woods' has that attitude he's not someone I'd want on my team. You don't call out teammates like that.

The Lion days B.M. (Before Matthew) you never heard a word out of Megatron despite the shitty QBs Matt Millen threw his way.

I'm sure EJ is a good dude, but he really is holding that offense back.

I've even seen Watkins gator arm passes. EJ can't get them the ball consistently because he is a below average passer.

Why is Watkins dropping passes, not extending for catches, and taking plays off (his words)... No one wants to get their bell rung going after some shit passes.

Did Watkins really admit to taking plays off? Not a good look, rookie.

NBA has way too many teams. Seriously 16 teams in the playoffs? They only have 30 teams in the league. That's HALF THE LEAGUE.

14/32 isn't too bad, but if gets to 16.. ugh.

That's what worries me honestly. I don't have a problem with it going to 14 but 16 is too much and it will be the point where teams under .500 will start to make the playoffs that aren't division winners. Other than Seattle winning their division at 7-9 the Strike season in 82 where they had 16 teams make the playoffs was the only other two time a sub .500 team made the playoffs(Lions, Browns).

I would agree with this except the NHL postseason is the same way and I wouldn't have it any other way.

There are no friends in the NFC South.
In fact I'm pretty sure I hate every team in the league.
And that definitely includes the Falcons.

Goodwin was killed on a shallow cross, next play it was Watkins turn with SD up big, dude said nope....

Don't blame him. I wouldn't want to get hurt either. Have to preserve my body for free agency!

Would the Bills had been better off grabbing Ryan Nassib in the 3rd or 4th rd instead? Though Marrone may not have even liked his fit in the offense or as a pro.

Yea but in the NHL the bottom seed actually can win, and coming back from 0-3 is possible. Coming back from 0-3 in the NBA has never happened (force a game 7 once) #8 seed beating #1 seed only 4 times ( one of them being 3/5 series, and another during a strike year).

First round of NBA playoffs pretty damn pointless even if they sometimes give "exciting games." Like for example Portland vs Houston was a fun series in the NBA last year, but everyone knew neither of them doing shit. We knew it was going to come down to Spurs/OKC vs Miami.

And it did! I know NFL ended up with #1 vs #1 in the SB, but that doesn't happen every year.

This is generally what I argue when discussions about it come up. Every series matters in the NHL playoffs. Every team has a shot, though not an equal one. There are usually 5 teams tops in the NBA playoffs that have any chance of winning it all, so 16 teams is overkill.

Yeah the only consistently good NBA first round series is 4 vs 5, and realistically neither can do much after that anyways so the first round always seems pointless

round 2 and beyond is my favorite phase of pro sports though

They would have been fine taking anyone, just not in the first round.

Look at it this way, they pull off the trade with St. Louis, they're sitting at 16 with the following players on the board, that all fit a hole at positions they address later in the draft, Patterson/Hopkins/Eifert. Take a WR/TE in the first, take Kiko, take Woods and you don't have to take a WR in the 3rd since you addressed the position in the first. Take whatever QB is on the board in the 3rd.

EJ was a year away at the earliest from playing QB in this league, yet they have no veteran after Kolb goes down. Raw QB thrust into action when the vet goes down, he's a first round pick so everyone wants him to play, rest is history.

If they do what I suggest, no need to scramble for Watkins in the '14 draft, you sit back and do whatever the fuck you want as Manziel and Bridgewater fall into your lap. You could even trade back and still land them. Then have two young QBs, and have them fight for the right to play QB, while keeping your draft assets.

Nope, we have to complicate things, rush the process and force selections. Whatever, enjoy your next job...

I don't know if anyone is interested in reading this, or if it was already posted, but Esquire (lolwut) put up a decent article about ESPN regarding domestic violence, the panel tomorrow, and BIll Simmons.

Here's a small excerpt.
When the show has updates from the field—brief reports about injuries and the upcoming game—they’ll cut to female sideline reporters, Lisa Salters and, on some weeks, Suzy Kolber.

These people are not allowed at the table.

On Monday, you will hear the voices of 11 men tripping over themselves to condemn the actions of one man who knocked his wife unconscious and dragged her motionless body into a casino lobby, and another man who head-butted his wife because she would not have sex with him.

NHL feels like a tournament, really feels like everyone has a chance, and the players lay it all on the fucking line.

LA Kings always suck in the regular season then go into rabid wolverine mode in the playoffs. And, last year was the first Super Bowl the number one seeds from each conference meet.

When you draft a QB it's a crap shoot and it may take decades to find that franchise QB. I prefer traditional pocket passers than the red option mold of Kaepernick.

Once you find him, like the Lions did with Stafford in 2009, you build around him. Everything else will fall into place.

and he has paid big time dividends so far. all the playoff wins, all the division titles, it's all because of stafford. lions are so lucky to have him :(

16 teams and the Suns still got fucked.

They probably would have beat the Pacers too.
