NFL 2014 Week 8 |OT| I Used To Like Football

Amusing considering several of the eaglets crowning him king of the universe after last years performance

Most of us were tentatively excited about his future. Who wouldn't be after that sort of year?

I'll admit I was higher on him than most and am likely the only Eagle fan still not ready to give up on him. But his complete regression is very frustrating.

Yeah, it was hard not to be excited at the possibility. I don't think anyone can deny that. I knew he'd never live up to those stats but I never thought he'd be THIS bad. Even if he picks it up for the other half of the season, if he only plays half a season of football you're not going to be able to rely on him to get you into the playoffs.

Yeah when Swearinger is doing his thug shit while the slot guy is running down the seam freely

I doubt Foles will have time to have a great day on offense.

BTW Cardinals-GAF, my comment wasn't a slight on the Cardinals defense. They have great DBs which is why they play dime as their sub package so often. Having great corners on the outside allows them to be creative with the 9 players in the middle (which is why I was a bit nervous when Peterson went down). Blitzing seems like the foundation of their defense, not random blitz calls, and it works because of the personnel they have. They are faster with their blitz because of their DBs.

I also don't think there is a better team in the league that can triple A gap blitz like they do, when they call it it is a thing of fucking beauty.

Anyone that actually watched him. He had some really lucky breaks. Said it all last year and in the off-season this year. I feel like a good part of Eagles fans basically scoffed at me for it.
The stat sheets just didn't say it all. So many balls that should have been picked or batted at a minimum last year.

Kelce will be back in next week. Foles has what? Seven sacks against him? With a patchwork line? I am sure Texans will get pressure but with Kelce back the entire offensive line will look way better.

Is he a free agent after this season? Foles that is.

One more year remaining on his rookie deal, but the Eagles have the opportunity to resign him to a new deal beginning this offseason.

Certainly luck was part of it, but it doesn't account for everything. You don't have the third highest rated passing season in NFL history on nothing BUT luck.

No, but my argument was the fact that he was going to come down to earth. First year (playing) QBs that have their mind right can usually get away with more things as defenses don't have much to study on them. It was most likely that he would regress a good bit after watching a lot of the big play balls that he threw.
So many of them were just out right bad decisions that somehow worked in his favor.

I don't feel like searching right now, but a I think a lot of my posts were just saying that I wouldn't put a lot of stock into anything he accomplished last year.

I thought he'd come down to earth too. I didn't think it would leave an impact crater.

Like I said yesterday, you flip Cotchery and LaFell and their stats are the same. The Pats throw the ball more and have a better QB throwing it. Hence LaFell's stats go up.

Like I said, I'm not giving up hope just yet. These were Tom Brady's numbers after the first 7 games of his second season as starter:

185-289, 64.0%, 1879 yds, 15 TDS, 9 INTs, 86.8 rating

And Foles:

177-299, 59.20%, 2039 yards, 12 TDs, 9 INTs, 80.7 rating

Now this isn't to say that Foles will go on to have a Brady-like career. But his struggles are not atypical of a young QB in this league.

Damn, MS dropping the price of the Xbox One to $349.

They're really trying hard to reverse mindshare in comparison to one year ago.

I don't think Kelce being back will be enough, the Texans do a great job of finding mismatches and moving Watt around anyway.

Also, I think the number of sacks given up does not really reflect how well an offensive line pass protects. Texans were able to disrupt the Cowboys offense, yet the Texans only had one sack that game (from Cushing).

I want to go back to the Week 4 thread when everybody said that Brady needs to be benched now and Garoppolo needs to be the starter, and that Brady would be benched for Garoppolo this season, should retire, etc.

Since week 4, BRady has thrown 14 TDs, 0 Ints, 1260 yards, with a QB rating of 125. DAAAAAMN. This is his best four consecutive games since 2012, Week 3 - 6 when he threw for 13 TDs, and 1400 yards... And before then, you'd have to go back maybe even to 2007 to get a better four weeks.

These arguments about Matthew Stafford are over. He is an elite QB and has proven it time and time again since at least 2011.

Yesterday he played without his number #1 receiver, number #1 RB, a garbage running game, our starting RT out and all three of his top tight ends sidelined (Fauria, Ebron and Pettigrew).

This gives you an idea of what Stafford had to work with:

Defend the Den 2014.

A week ago I made something just for you.

Don't worry, I'm making one for everyone. Bionics has Magic Johnson in it, and Gregs has A-Aron. I think Eznarks has Gran Torino Clint but I forgot.

Those were different passing eras. Taking numbers from 2001(Brady was 6th in passer rating in 2001) and comparing them to Foles today is not a good argument. The average passer rating for starting quarterbacks is above 90 this year. Foles' efficiency is well below average QBs. .

The Eagles offensive line this season has been pretty good despite the injuries they faced. Jason Kelce, who looked like an All-Pro center in the first 5 games of the season, can only help an Eagles defense that is about to face a front seven that can rush the passer. I wish Mathis was back this week too.

Brady has played much better but his other games this year were not really close to good as the Bears game. Bears are just stupid and played zone the whole game. I remember the Jags did that in the playoffs and he missed 2 passes. The majority of teams that have had success against Brady play press man on the outside. That has pretty much always been the case and I expect that from Denver. At the end of the day Gronk is their only exception skill player. I also think they are going to put Talib on Gronk which should be interesting.

Yeah. Foles has had a dreadful season. The way Maclin is playing this season with the number of passes that Foles has completely missed on is astounding. No one should question that Maclin is a legitimate #1 receiver. It's not his fault that Foles has been complete shit this season. Anyone mentioning Desean as a reason for failure hasn't been watching these games.

Somehow this team is 5-2. I think Foles is a quarterback that shouldn't just let it "fly." He needs to be more conservative and careful with his passes, because he doesn't have the touch and arm strength to zip balls around like Rodgers or Romo. I guess he has to master the balance of not being too hesitant, while at the same time not being reckless with the football.

The Eagles had two red zone opportunities in the first half that were just given away by poor game decisions and ball control. The Eagles should have beaten a very good Arizona team. They even missed an opportunity to challenge at the end for a first down, that may have ended the game or at least insured OT.

The Eagles losses to the Niners and the Cardinals are frustrating, because they were games that the Eagles lost by turning the ball over in crucial times in the game.

I can't even get that upset at the secondary for yesterday. I expect it from Nate Allen at this point. The Eagles need to outscore teams to win, and you can't outscore teams when you turn the ball over this much. The defense actually played great yesterday for what they are. The Eagles had great field position the entire second half, and struggled to move the ball on offense and generate points.

Can cavemen even get injured

Seeing how he gets demolished weekly, I have begun to wonder this. He was getting fucked up so bad that Steelers players started helping him up lol. Reminded me of that AFC playoff game in 05-06 where you guys were destroying Manning. Except Manning was spasing the hell out (threw his O-line under the bus after that game lol), and Luck was acting like nothing was happening.

Perhaps when you're alive that long you begin to evolve slowly into something else. At least internal, externally it looks like Andrew is devolving.

The average passer rating over the past 10 years is in the low 80s. This year's number is absurdly high right now and I would bet it will come down over the second half of the season.

And I'm not arguing that Foles has been good this season, just that he's not alone in struggling as a young QB.

I will destroy you.

It makes sense for all parties.

Jets desperately need a QB that has the ability to breath and potentially move.
Cowboys get their star qb that Jerreh wants almost as much as a super bowl.

Browns get a 3rd 1st round pick in the draft.

You are right, the Eagles have done a marvelous job handling the injuries (and Lane's suspension) the way that they have. And you are right that having Kelce back will be a tremendous boost, I just think Texans have a really good front.

Wow console are getting cheaper fast.

Only Nintendo consoles have stayed more expensive than their consoles last gen. I feel the U should have launched at 250 and be
200 by now. They would have done much better as that is closer to an impulse buy.

And why don't people wash their hands in the bathroom? I just stopped at a starbucks and went to the bathroom while waiting for my drink.

The door opens and a guy wearing a witten jersey (not judging cowboy fans animals come in all shapes and sizes) comes out. I could hear that he did not flush the toilet and he did not wash his hands because I did not hear the dryer. What a gross motherfucker.

These people should have to go outside with the other animals.

It dosent make sense. No matter what bullshit stories espn or NFL make up. JFF won't be traded, I get angrier as I type.

We traded a 1st and 3rd to get the guy they scouted and like as a qb. Only to trade him within less of a year of drafting him?

Nintendo spent a ton of money on those controller screens.

If they released a Wii U with a pro controller they probably would be able to have a really low price but that would require them to rework some if not all of the user interface.

I work as a casino dealer and everytime I go on break I wash my hand cause of people like that and then they handle the chips and have to touch them. I mean there's nothing nastier that casino ships
