If the Eagles ever get their offense going, they could be a very good team. This defense looks like it could be something special.

1st in rushing yards per play
3rd in turnovers
5th in yards per play
5th in points per drive

One glaring deficiency is a lack of sacks; they haven't been able to consistently get at the QB. This may be due to playing the max-protect Falcons and the very good Cowboys o-line in 2 of their 3 games. I suspect their sack numbers will go up over time.

A good defense can carry a team as we saw firsthand in Philly during the early 90s and again in the early 2000s.

I dunno, RB makes one guy miss and he might pick up the first. It was a typical dump-off but the hit on Tannehill kept him from lofting it over the LB. I don't mind seeing a QB attempt to get a pass off to a somewhat open guy with pressure in his face, but I guess that result is the risk you're taking.

20-20 hindsight, I know. But I see a 2 yard gain at the most. Whatever, playcalling is atrocious, D can't stop a nosebleed. Didn't buy into the hype before the season but this is really disappointing.

Yeah the D is really shaping up now that Thurmond is looking good. Feels good to have some decent safeties. Maxwell ironically looks like the weakest link, but hopefully we start running Cloud formations and shit to give him some help over the top. The offense just needs to get in sync. A lot of the issues like timing and placement seem like things that will come as everyone gets more comfortable with the scheme but we'll see. Regardless with the youth and talent (and contracts) on our D, it looks good for a bit so we can focus on fixing offensive issues in the future

I really think this Vikings Broncos game will be close. I don't really buy that the Vikebike is legit, but if we can come home with a win I will feel pretty good about the rest of the year.

What's wrong with Bayern Munich?

It's hard to put into words that are understandable for Americans.

Maybe imagine a mix of the Pats (dammit) and Cowboys in a league without a salary cap.

Basically, soccer is a shitshow with zero competitive balance.

Ironic that teams fun a more capitalistic model in more socialist friendly nations.

And its the opposite in the US.

She actually looks pretty good for 71. Again it is proven that black doesn't crack (at least not on the outside).

Speaking of stepping on shoes my daughter loves to do this shit to me. Because it is 2015 I have to calmly explain that you that that shit just ain't done and it could cause her trouble later in life if she keeps it up. She is so lucky that she doesn't have Adrian Peterson as her father...

So they are sort of like a Patriots team with a sleazy competitive advantage.

Wait a second...

Totally agree with you about soccer even though I enjoy watching top teams play. If people think the NFL doesn't have relative parity they should check out the EPL for a few weeks.

It's capitalistic for the owners in the NFL, it also just that there's no competition between other country leagues like their is with soccer ( except for MLS .. .but MLS doesn't really compete with the other soccer leagues).

The problem with Bayern is that the Bayern advantage isn't really sleazy. They "earned" that shit, unlike a LOT of the European top teams. It's an inherent flaw in the system.

Man that London game is on too early, I'll be sleeping

No way, morning NFL is the best. Get up, get yer coffee, take yer dog for a walk, and watch football, tell the wife to take a piss

NFL definitely isn't capitalistic for the owners. They share revenue, there is a cap that they all agree to spend every year, they all agree to the same rules in how to govern their teams, they have all of these rules about communications between owners and organizations, etc. They can't pass any rules without negotiating with a union that represents players.

Yeah but it makes FIFA really fun!

1. Take over as manager of crappy English team
2. Perform well with star player
3. Sell star player and buy cheap young player
4. Perform well with cheap young player
5. Repeat steps 3-4 until you have the best team in the world
6. Win a lot

:)

...uh, that doesn't mean it's not capitalistic, it just means that they realize that they are in many ways one entity and if they can't work together, they will make less money.

You know, like a company. Or maybe more like a legal cartel, in this case.

Short version for anybody who doesn't want to read Borges boring shit:

hurr durr nfl isnt football football is wen people kill each other crossing the field and qbs take off their thong underwear hurr joe montana said so durr need more concussions in the nfl and players should kill each other

I think the idea that companies, cartels, governments, or the NFL, participate in some unbridled capitalism is looney. Lest we all remember that arguable the most powerful person in the league -- commissioner of the NFL, elected by the owners -- just lost a high profile court case against one of its players for allegedly violating the rules that the players and owners agree to.
