Colin Cowherd is an asshole, but he had a spiel that I thought was accurate that I had heard when I was in the car one day. The diehard sports towns like in the Midwest and the South are diehard because what is there to do.
Weather Sucks
No beaches
No Club scene
Places like Miami, LA, San Fran, San Diego. They don't have to give much of a fuck about sports because they have nice weather, social scene, and things like that
weakass argument is weak as fuck.
What is there to do? The same shit that there is to do everywhere else. Clubs, bars, casinos, malls, theaters, gym, outdoors shit. Fraudulent-ass arguments, pretending these towns are remarkably different. The only difference is the volume of those types of attractions, rather than their existence, proper. Cities like Detroit and Cleveland may only have 10 clubs open tonight instead of the 20 here in Miami. How many fucking clubs can you go to? Really.
How does his argument work in sports-crazy Boston, Chicago and NY? Fans show up, good weather or bad. The reality in Miami (where I am) is that people don't show up because
(1) there are a bunch of imports here that don't give 2 fucks about these local sports teams. You see lots of Northeastern sports teams bumper stickers down here. It's not a coincidence.
(2) this bigass hatian and cuban population couldn't give 2 fucks about American sports. Let them open a ML soccer team down here and I bet that bitch is packed out ever game.
I can't speak for San Diego or LA, but I know Dodgers fans show the fuck up when their team is decent, Lakers fans show up when their team is decent. Just like how Browns and Indians fans show up when their team is decent and often times stay the fuck at home when they aren't.
It's an argument made just to hear yourself talk. That said, NYC, LA and Seattle are my favorites to hang out in and club at. Fuck these Miami clubs and Miami culture.
