It reads, "Proposition 1, would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity-criteria not covered by federal anti-discrimination laws - especially 'in city employment, city services, city contracting practices, housing, public accommodations, and private employment.'"
"It's one of those issues that theoretically the 'no' forces have a point. But it also is a minor point in a broader ordinance that covers a whole host of other things. And it's also one that in practice, we haven't seen it used by predators," Mark Jones, political science chair at Rice University, said.
