NFL 2015 Week 7 |OT| - A Fraud Swings His Gate

I grew up near there. Can confirm, is a shithole. I was back visiting a week or so ago and I feared for my life in areas of down town Reading that used to be sort of kind of nice.
I live a little over an hour north of there....in another shithole called Hazleton.

I do work down that way often though. Wyomissing, Hamburg, Reading...

I've been through Hazleton. The heroin epidemic there is pretty unreal from what I hear.

I used to work in Wyomissing all through college. Barnes & Noble and Best Buy. All of my old high school friends still live in the Reading area, as well as my parents.

Speaking of beaches, I really really really want to go to Cuba some day.... maybe during/after 4th year

I mean I enjoy shitty americanized Cuban sandwiches here, I can't even imagine how good the food must be over there!! *dreams

Oh and there are supposedly tons of smokin hot babes !! Yeehaw pardner
Quit playing man.
Everyone know the Cuban sandwich was created in Tampa.
Don't believe the Miami bullshit.

Dan also does a pretty good Dat Nguyen impression. I'm sure only cowboy fans will understand that reference....maybe.

Cuban sandwich sounds like it's code for something dirty. Good kinda dirty.

SOS is not a good metric to judge a team, imo.

Fact is that SOS is a data point, not an cogent argument.

Fact of the matter, SOS is something interesting and worth talking about. Yet, I would say its biggest flaw is it is only based off 6 to 5 games. Which in stats is basically zero information . No conclusion can really be drawn from that. Either way, I do not think there are many cogent arguments regarding how good an NFL team really is anyways.

Reading, PA?
Yes.

As fetus noted it used to be nicer but it is a complete and utter shit hole now.

It's actually fascinating because the city fell apart in like less than a year. The downtown used to have these really nice outlets and you could walk around the city and go shopping which was pretty sweet.

Then one year the city just died and nurses and kids were getting murdered every other day. People got the fuck out and now it ain't shit.

Hicks has been amazing. Not sure how they take him off the field as the other LBs get healthy

Yeah it's gonna be tough. He's really an every down type of guy. I wonder if he can play outside at all. I have heard Kiko can. I'm sure they'll just rotate guys a lot when they are all healthy. They really hit the jackpot with Hicks.

I do think Vegas is off with that -3 line though. Listened to Simmons Guess the Lines pod with Sal and they were both like "wait, what?" Simmons thought it'd be -4.5 and Sal had -6.

Oh well, don't care about the line as long as we get the win. I don't think Cam and the defense have forgotten last year's prime time embarrassment.

Has Carolina's offensive line improved a ton over last year? I know Cam wasn't 100% that game, but he took 9 sacks.

We have 3 new starters on the OL since that game (LT, LG, RT). And while Oher hasn't been great, he's been way better than Byron Bell was last year. Honestly, outside of LT, this is the best OL the Panthers have had in years. And if our 4th round pick Daryl Williams hasn't gotten hurt in week 1 (still out with a sprained knee), he likely would have taken over the RT position from Mike Remmers as well.

ESPN's FPI has the Eagles as 3.7 points better on a neutral field. SRS 7.8 points better. Both are meant to be predictive. I'm not saying anything about either team, other than it looks like Vegas wants CAR money

I don't take FPI seriously. It's got the Eagles ranked as the 3rd best team in the league which I find laughable.

Yeah I have no idea what the coaches will do when Kendricks, and Kiko are back.

I hope Sunday night will prove to everyone once and for all that Bradford is a complete doo-doo.

Seriously what is your deal?

Line opened Panthers -5. There are so many Eagles fans out here in Vegas the lines almost always shift towards the Eagles. Hell there is an Eagles bar right by the strip. It is why the Eagles Super Bowl odds went so nuts before the season.

-5 sounds about right. BofA isn't even in top half of home field advantages, although with the undefeated record and being a prime time game, there should be less visiting fans there then usual.

Panthers line is apparently much better and Cam is healthy. Our D Line is fantastic so I'm sure we'll get to him, but don't expect anywhere near 9. I'd think somewhere in 2-4 is expected.

Either way this is gonna be a defensive game. If Bradford plays like vs the Jets and Skins, I think the Eagles win. If he plays like against the Giants, Panthers take it. Which I guess is obvious, since QB play generally determines how good the team is.

Line move makes sense, right? That links to an ESPN Insider article, but the sharps like the Eagles (but just by 2 points on CAR on neutral field). Every stat based model I have seen likes PHI. So the line being CAR -3 means the casinos want bettors wagering on CAR

If he completes over 63% of his passes for 260 yards I think the Eagles have a good of winning. Unless you are only talking about the 3 picks. Hopefully Cooper wont stop running on a pass called for him, and Ertz can atleast knock down a pass that hits him in the hands.

Yes it is! Finally a worthy sequel to my favorite platformer.

I love this game, it's so freaking mellow.

Yoshi's Woolly World is good stuff!

Did you get ze amiibos.

Giant's pass defense was really bad, missing our best pass rusher and a good cover corner, his stats were misleading in that they could have easily been much worse against a defense with a pulse.

I have no problem with SOS being folded into the bigger picture, even with a relatively small sample size. By itself though I don't think it really gives us an accurate picture of a team's performance and how it will match up with any given team in the current week. It has to be more granular.

Really we have all these stats and advanced metrics, which are great. At the same time you always need a little bit of art with the science to accurately pin down what a team really is.

I did not know that. I've been there plenty but am pretty unfamiliar with it. If anything, I'd say Reading isn't all that memorable
