Philly is the only place on the best coast to get Russian River beers. The hype for Pliny has died, well hipsters have moved on from IPAs to sours now.
I was never that hyped for Pliny, honestly. It's good but I'd take a Bell's Two Hearted over it any day. Or practically any sour!
Sours have been big in Philly for well over a year now anyway, probably two. Hell, IPAs have been declining in focus for a while here. But, it's one of the best beer cities in the US and started the belgian beer/gastropub craze so that's not surprising at all. The brewpub a block from my house put their sour on a week ago and I bought the first growler.
I'm hoping the Saisonale event happens again this year too. A week long event dedicated to saisons? Puts me in heaven.
