With the 14th pick of the 2017 draft, the Philadelphia Eagles choose Corey Davis, WR.
In 2016, the Eagles got Carson Wentz, who gave Eagles fans hope as he had an up and down rookie season. Early in the season, he looked unstoppable, leading the Eagles to an unexpected 3-0 start. But as the season went on he regressed, partially due to a constantly shifting OL, partially due to throwing for a near-record attempts as a rookie, but mostly because teams figured out they didn't have to play the deep ball and could creep up to shut down Jordan Matthews, knowing that the other receivers were worthless. In 2017 FA season, Howie got Wentz new weapons with Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith. Both are excellent additions, but Jeffery is injury-prone and has a potential 10 game suspension, and Smith has been terrible the last two years.
Enter Corey Davis. In my opinion, Davis is the best receiver in this class. He has incredible YAC ability, crisp route running, and great size, and is a touchdown machine. He gets knocked for coming from a small school, but he absolutely dominatd his competition. He fits in perfectly with the WCO that Doug Pederson is running in Philadelphia, and an offense of Jeffery, Davis, and Matthews would give Wentz all the help he needs. And in the scenario where Jeffery is injured/suspended/has a disappointing season, Davis can take over as the lead WR for the next decade, giving Wentz a top tier receiver to grow with
