NFL 2017 Week 4 |OT| Taking a stand by taking a knee

Dude, you watched Kap last year too, he didn't look that much better. Take out 2012-2013 and what do you have? A mediocre at best QB who on his best day is probably a top 20 QB who isn't accurate and can't progress through his reads. Is he better than Hoyer? Maybe, but Hoyer knows Shanahan's system. Bring in Kap off the street and start him next week and he will do significantly worse than Hoyer or Beathard. The Ravens should have signed him back in August, especially since they have Greg Roman.

I didn't say anything about expecting Kap to come in, in a week to do well. That's not realistic.

But that doesn't mean we need to go back in history and try to rewrite stuff.

Kaep played great in the first half of games last year (Chip's issue was halftime adjustments, be it Kap or Gabbbert)... Kap was doing all the stuff his critics have asked him to do.. go through progressions...touch passes.. stay in the pocket.

16TDs and 4INTs in alittle more than half a season..coming back from 3 surgeries. Being forced to rework his contract JUST to get back on the field.

Hoyer knows alot of systems but Hoyer is still Brian Hoyer. If Kap was still here you better believe we would be MUCH better.

As far as Kap in Shanny system.. people swear he's only a read option/Gun spread gimmiky QB.

He has played better undercenter in his career than in the pistol or gun. His stats back that up. Hell in 2015 when we finally started to play undercenter again.. Kap was playing well..beat the Ravens...then almost beat the Giants in NY in primetime.

Then the very next week we randomly decided to go back to pistol/Gun bunch against the Seahawks..results, back to our mental mistakes and BS.

It wasn't just Kap that played better undercenter but the Oline an RBs, especially when Tiller got in on drives.

But thats what happens when you replace Jim Harbough with Jim Fucking Tomfoolya. You have shitty coaching decisions.

I like that Drakeon's only willing to give Kaep one year of being not-great

Hoyer's been in the league since '09 yet needs more chances to not suck tho

True, but besides Peyton Manning being carried to a Superb Owl win, who was the last QB to win it all that wasn’t drafted by that team. Brees with the Saints?

The problem with developing a quarterback is how long it takes, sure you get a free pass this year as gm and hc , but go back to back years of 2 and 14 and the press and fans can only take so much.

Your looking at this year (year 1) tanking for a quarterback.

Year 2 - waste the rest of the teams time and start/redshirt a rookie quarterback

Year 3 - maybe see improvement , probably end up 8 - 8 miss the playoffs, IF youve chosen a good player , and built the team the right way.

Whens the last time a rookie QB went to the superbowl, or even made the championship game ? This is a franchise that hasnt had a winning season in YEARS. 6 years of losing in a row wont be tolerated.

If you have any hope for next season at all you start cousins. It buys you more time to find a guy in the draft that you can groom, as his replacement.

I just want to see a competitive team again, a team that has a good shot at the playoffs every year. 3 - 4 years is a Long time to wait in the NFL.

Hoyer does suck. But he was signed because he knew the system. Kap isn't going to make this year's Niners a playoff contender. And I gave Kap three years, 2014-2016. I'm arguing that saying we should sign Kap because he's better than Hoyer is stupid, because Shanahan's system isn't something you pick up in 2-3 wks and we're not going to the playoffs anyways.

What do you do the years following though? It’s hard to say just load up on big contracts for 1 year of rollover. Won’t be sustainable in the future. Plus you’re handicapping yourself in free agency the next year

They rolled over 40 million this year and have almost no big contracts next year. Its all about maximizing talent and this team is absolutely devoid of it. Our Defensive line is on rookie contracts, and paying 2 guys shouldnt bankrupt any team. We have no one worth a damn, you frontload the contract next year to ease the cap space going forward.

Guess the best way to go then is to sign Cousins, draft Darnold/Rosen

It's really sad seeing how bad this offense is. Just absolutely pathetic.

Fuck tom cable, fuck Darrel bevell and honestly I'm growing tired of Pete carrolls bullshit excuses at this point.

Let's drop back and pass with no pass protection on our own goal line instead of running the ball and punting and trusting our great defense.

Okay.
