I live in Charlotte, here since team inception. Was Redskin fan but immediately drop them and became Panthers fan. We have never had a back to back winning season.

Darnold went 3-0 last season until defenses figured him out. Coaches didn’t trust PJ to pass ball beyond the line of scrimmage against 49ers. Teams will figure PJ out and notice his flaws.

The Panthers defense played good this season but has been let down by the offense and tired by end of game. The Bucs either were too over confidence or wasn’t able to prepare for backups since there aren’t film on this Panther unit.

This win is a fluke against a struggling Bucs team. With the 2 trades, it sent message to team everyone’s job is on the line. Even if we win the division with mediocre record. We will be stuck in mediocrity if we don’t address the QB situation.

Speaking of the Robbie and CMC trades. We basically just got back the picks we gave up for Darnold and Baker! Ugh
Yeah, I've been a Panthers fan since day one as well - even went to the Hall of Fame game in '95. And sure, we've been looking for a QB ever since Cam got his shoulder wrecked against Pittsburgh by TJ Watt in 2018 honestly. That was the end of our window imho. I don't blame the staff/FO for taking chances on a QB. Yes, it cost us some picks, but if you don't have a QB, that's job one until you sort it out. Sometimes desperation makes for desperate moves.

I'm not a proponent of "tanking" or playing not to win in any way. The culture you build matters, and the idea that you can get professional athletes to turn it off for the long-term prospect of winning just isn't in their dna. Yes, you can coach your way to losses, no doubt, but that's no better. It would be different if picking at the top of the draft guaranteed an elite franchise QB, but it doesn't. Look where the best in the league were picked. Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Rodgers, etc. None at the very top. It's rare, in fact, for that to be the case. Manning being a notable exception. I always feel that you give your best and let the chips fall where they may in terms of draft picks.

Another year and once again I have gone from being glued to the TV to watch the Broncos at the beginning of the season to me having it on in the background while I do other things and occasionally yell obscenities at the team when they trot out what is apparently supposed to be an offense.

I never liked Russell Wilson as a person. But I respect him as a player. But what the hell is going on with him with the Broncos. It just seems like he’s playing hero ball trying to stuff the stat sheet!

I honestly have no clue. Last year, pretty much everyone thought that all the Broncos needed was a QB and they could be a contender. So they got rid of the coaching staff and brought in Wilson who up until this year was on a hall of fame trajectory and hired offensive minded head coach. Somehow they're scoring FEWER points than last year.

I get it, but Josh Allen/Lamar draft was very deep QB year! Mahommes was a top 10 pick. I remember the Aaron Rodgers/Alex Smith debate for the 49ers. Who ever wasn’t picked 1st fell. But Aaron Rodgers was very fortunate to sat/develop behind Brett Favre for 3yrs.

Other than Josh Allen all those successful QBs selected were in very stable franchise with coaches that were there for years!

This year there is 2 QB Young/Stroud to shoot for but after them is a crap shoot!

I think the Panthers have good young talent that is just missing a competent QB. Defense is talented enough and Oline talent wise is better than the 2015 season they are young and can improve. WR other than DJ it’s hard to evaluate them since we don’t have a competent QB.

The only reason I’m on the tank bandwagon is the last 3 years has cause me to become jaded. This is the lowest point I’ve ever feel. Even worst than the Chris Weinke or Pickles Clausen year!

Oh, I know, it's hard to be a Panthers' fan, lol. We have these occasional (and rare) spikes of excellent years mingled with mostly mediocrity (between 6-10 and 9-7, well prior to the 17 game schedule) and then sprinkle in some absolutely unbearable low points. There's never been any consistency to good football for a variety of reasons.

I'm also not convinced Young or Stroud will be franchise guys. If Young were a bit bigger, I'd feel a little better because he does seem to have that *it* factor to me. Stroud, well, OSU has always seemed to be trouble when it comes to QBs.

What it comes down to for me as a fan is that I just hope for wins each week and for the draft to shake out in our favor in terms of the *players* we pick up rather than the *position* we get them. It's not in me to hope that my team loses just for the possibility that a higher draft pick ends up better than a marginally lower one. The draft has proven too unpredictable for that sort of fandom imho.

First time watching post game on Amazon, Charissa Thompson is awful! Just a pretty face!!!

Recently had this discussion with a few people last week. We all thought she was leaps and bounds better than all the other NFL vets at the desk. Very smooth and orchestrates the conversation well.

People have different perceptions.

The thing that struck a nerve with me last night was her question if the Ravens should be concerned that they got out scored again in the 4th quarter.

For this game it was irrelevant, Ravens were up big and they have been rushing so well. They basically milking down the clock in the 4th. And I think Richard Sherman politely indirectly corrected her assessment.

Lol, that was definitely a dumb question. I guess I give some leeway for dumb questions because it's sportsball and I don't see anyone batting 1,000.

With the vikings playing so well this season there has to be an outside chance that both of the NFL's 4 time losers reach the big game. Loser bowl would be a fun game :)

Holy shit! Panthers Hail Mary TD to tie and chance to win but our dumb WR! DJ removed his helmet to celebrate and got flag. Which push short extra point into 48yd! Of course Panthers missed the FG! 😂 😂

Edit: 2nd chance FG attempt in OT for win and he misses! 😂 😂

Having the best team in the league is boring. There's only like 2 or 3 other teams that can beat us. Every other team is the skinny guy Hulk Hogan would beat up on random Saturday mornings.

Miami fan too?
That 2007 Super Bowl was a thing of beauty, not only as a Miami fan for the undefeated season to remain intact, but, I made a lot of money on that game because my gut told me there was no way New England, if they should win, was going to cover the 14+ point spread against Eli's Giants, who always gave Brady's Pats trouble.

God bless Eli Manning, doing the Lord's work.

Hell, the two Manning bros are the single reason Tom Brady doesn't have 10+ fucking rings.

No shit, I posted that because their only loss was to my team.

Just some friendly banter between Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes and I due to rivalries.

I do not recognize the Miami game as a loss. It has been classified as "junk data" by all in Buffalo.

I'm only have friendly banter with fans of Kansas City, Philadelphia, Tennessee, and Cincinnati. The rest of you are food to be consumed throughout the season.

Btw, can anyone tell me why the internet hates Chris Collinsworth?

Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z prepare bid for Washington Commanders NFL team

Offer could value football franchise at up to $6bn and would mark a record for a sports club

Jeff Bezos is teaming up with music mogul Jay-Z to acquire the Washington Commanders in a bid that could value the National Football League team at up to $6bn, said two people briefed about the matter.

The founder of Amazon and owner of the Washington Post newspaper is the frontrunner to buy the team as existing owner Dan Snyder has been forced to sell after being engulfed in a financial scandal. Two people said Bezos was ready to pay more than $5.5bn.

Josh Harris, the billionaire private equity executive who left Apollo last year after a messy succession battle, is also competing to buy the team formerly known as the Redskins before Snyder came under pressure to change its racially insensitive branding, those people said.

A deal worth about $6bn would be a record for a sports team and the latest sign that the world’s wealthiest individuals are willing to spend top dollar to secure sports assets, particularly NFL teams that rarely come up for sale. The last sale occurred in June, when Rob Walton, the billionaire heir to the Walmart fortune, acquired the Denver Broncos for $4.6bn.

Jay-Z, the rapper and entrepreneur, runs a sports agency through Roc Nation, his entertainment group whose clients include NFL player Saquon Barkley. The 52-year-old, whose real name is Shawn Carter, already has influence over the league: Roc Nation in 2019 agreed to a partnership to advise on the Super Bowl halftime show and help the league’s social justice efforts.

The team’s sale comes amid new scrutiny into Snyder’s financial management of the football franchise after years of investigations into its alleged toxic culture.

The US attorney’s office in the Eastern District of Virginia is investigating allegations of financial improprieties, ESPN reported on Wednesday. The probe stems from a letter the House Committee on Oversight and Reform sent to the Federal Trade Commission and a number of state attorneys-general, which alleged the team withheld revenues due to visiting teams playing in Washington, and the return of deposits for tickets to fans.

The US attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia did not immediately return emails seeking comment. The FTC declined to comment.

Snyder has faced disciplinary action from the NFL for overseeing a culture of alleged sexual harassment. In 2021, Snyder paid a $10mn fine levied by the league over allegations including sexual harassment and other misconduct in the workplace.

“It is now clear that the culture was not what it should be, but I did not realise the extent of the problems, or my role in allowing that culture to develop and continue,” Snyder said in a statement at the time. “I feel great remorse for the people who had difficult, even traumatic, experiences while working here.”

Eh, I think the Giants are a paper tiger.
Not a paper tiger but overachieving due to a much improved coaching staff. They did beat the Ravens and Titans who will probably be the 3rd and 4th seeds in the AFC. But are they top tier? No but the league isn't very good anyway.

Confidence in the NFL is helluva drug. Not a Giants fan, I'm Panthers and use to follow Redskins in the 80s/90's. But I always roots against Cowboys(ABC=Anybody But Cowboys).:messenger_grinning_squinting:

Minnesota wins again at the last minute. Being 7-1 is great but this shit is nuts. Very likely the Bills beat the pants off them next week. It'd be a huge upset otherwise.
