I'm officially writing off the panthers. šŸˆā€ā¬› They were even worse than I thought. I have no faith in their coach either, Dave Canales. Reject cheats on his wife, humblebrag writes about it, and players are supposed to follow this loser? Young does not look good. Jonathan Brooks is on the horizon I guess

Browns are close. Watson's another horrible person who looks totally checked out since at least last season. Heard his dead cap hit next season is $172 million.

49ers all the way. Until Taylor puts us in our place

But gotta believe they do have something special there (other than an nfc champ team, that peaks one game too soon šŸ˜‚) šŸ¤ž

And another season of failure makes me worry that DGrayson DGrayson might do something drastic and take up competitive knitting !!! šŸ˜³šŸ˜‚

Big game tonight! I'll be cheering for the fins but they seem to struggle vs good teams. But bills defense looking a bit sus last week. regardless should be a banger :messenger_sunglasses:

another serious concussion. why the fuck he running head first????

Look at him talking to his teammates. guaranteed blackout for him until he gets in locker room

As a Miami fan, but also a father myself, I hope he retires. 3 (arguably 4) concussions in 2 years. Just take the money you have and leave.

I'm probably done watching football for awhile though. 24 years of pain and looks like we're going for 25 years.

I don't get it. U already got the first down

Charge with ur shoulder if ur feeling crazy

But charging with ur head right into Hamlin's chest?? Ya dumb? Don't wanna see tua on the field again

The sideline reporter is making it sound like tua is getting last rites. His wife mom dad sister brother are all there.

He must be really fucked up. He had those bad concussions in 2022. He's gonna have to retire early. Hopefully

People on social media blaming Hamlin are annoying the hell out of me. Hamlin's hit was as clean as it could possibly be and unless he had a magical teleporter, there was no way he was going to be able to get out of Tua's way. Tua's the dummy who decided to go head (not shoulder) first instead of sliding. You'd think a guy with a history of concussions would play with a bit more thought to his brain health.

This is what, concussion number 5 now in his short career? He should probably call it quits before he does any more irreparable damage to his gray matter.

What time is it?

It was 4th down and had he slid, he'd have been really close to the line to gain to convert. That said, given his concussion history, score of the game, and point in the season, he absolutely should have slid. It's hard to take the compete out of a competitor though.

Yeah, it's easy to say it with slo mo hi rez cameras but in the heat of the moment you're thinking about winning a football game. Plus, that dive didn't even look dangerous. He does that 100 times and gets up fine 99 times.

What's crazy is hamlin barely moved an inch and we can see tua immediately crumple into the fencing response. It's like watching his brainstem run feel speed into an immovable wall. Absolutely insane and completely senseless

Right?! Like instantly he was down and his arms went up. I haven't seen any news this morning but you're right, he just ran/stumbled into Hamlins chest and just crumpled.

Tua's brain isn't built for this. Some guys can plow through people like it's nothing. He can't. He would get concussed 100 times out of 100 on that hit, that's the problem. And as yo u get more and more concussions, they just get easier.

He's gotten way more than the ones we've seen. He's already likely in a situation where he is going to be dealing with consequences of this for the rest of his life (migraines, memory issues, etc.). He's totally fucked. But, it's his life.

Here's manti Teo talking about the concussion. He's super close to tua and his family so this is pretty strong emotional stuff

He's also been tackled like that 1,000+ times in his career and been fine. Damar Hamlin is the lightest player on defense and didn't even load up for a hit. That play was a fluke. I'm just saying it's easy to tell him not to do it after the fact.

also whatever happened to this?

I think if more players spent some time around antonio brown they'd prob be more eager to put them on :goog_unamused:

The league made it optional knowing most players wouldnā€™t use it, thatā€™s what happened. Hell, the Dolphins decided, as a team, to reject them entirely (a decision I wonder if theyā€™re now reconsidering).

Only five players have decided to wear them this year and theyā€™ve been met with ridicule by fans, media, and, worse, their fellow players - both current and former.

From an article on the caps just a few weeks ago:

Former NFL offensive tackle King Dunlap said on a podcast that players should ā€œraw dog the helmet and get CTE like the rest of us.ā€ Jon Feliciano, a 49ers guard, tweeted, ā€œYā€™all mfers better not be wearing guardian caps.ā€

If the NFL wants the caps to have any success at reducing concussions theyā€™re going to have to make them mandatory. Otherwise teams and players will continue to ignore them because they disrupt their ā€œswagā€.

From the same article as above:

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman said, ā€œIt messes up everybodyā€™s swag on the field. You will never see me wearing that in a game.ā€

Tennessee Titans center Lloyd Cushenberry said the Guardian Cap looks ā€œgoofyā€ even while noting its safety aspect. He elaborated:

ā€œI donā€™t know about wearing it in games. Swag over safety a little bit. It looks kind of goofy, but I get the safety to it.ā€

Bro! I have been saying that helmets need to increase in size by 1/3rd an inch every year to everyone who will listen. I get no support from friends and family. Gradually increase the size and safety of the helmets so no one revolts. I have no idea why the league doesn't do this.

Remember when MLB tried this with pitchers?

Yes, and? I fully support pitchers or NFL players beefing up head protection even if it looks kinda dumb. One of my favorite pitchers on the Aā€™s had a fractured skull from a line drive off his dome. Nothing is worth getting your shit wrecked like that when you got a wife and kids and career

You asked what happened to the guardian caps. The point I was making was the players overall decided not to do it. Given an option, NFL players wonā€™t be wearing theirs either.

I donā€™t think I asked anything tbh, except maybe why I continue to be an Aā€™s and Raiders fan like an abused stepchild.

But Iā€™ll stand by this: protect your dome, even if it looks dumb

You live life using your own advice, wear a helmet and heavy padding wherever you go, who cares if it looks dumb?
Now that Iā€™m done with this, back to football.

Off the top of my head Iā€™ve got two motorcycle helmets (on road and off road), two bicycle helmets (road and mountain), and a skiing helmet. No, I donā€™t wear one if Iā€™m walking around the house, but if Iā€™m doing something where I could slam my head Iā€™ve got a helmet on. I make my kids wear one even if itā€™s just riding a scooter around. My wife had a 6 year old patient who fell on her bike without a helmet and had a TBI and permanent disabilities from itā€¦protect your dome.
