NFL Off-Season Thread 4 - The Bears Still Suck

Yeah Sony won E3.:) Outside of that 30 minute lag, that was a helluva conference.
Why does this matter again? Some of gaming GAF's foibles always escaped me.

FWIW I thought it was about an hour too long. However, Power Hour and Louie were on as I was catching up on other stuff.

Wow just saw munns pictures and texts...jesus....also I liked sonys conferences, some of the games looked great and my sister and I loved LBP 1 and 2, I might pick up a PS4 sooner then I thought.

First of all I was mostly being facetious on the basis of Grim Fandango being like the biggest and most pleasant surprise for me as I fucking adored that game on PC. Secondly, It doesn't. I'm stating my own personal preference after giving some thoughts on Microsoft's conference earlier. You don't like it, keep reading past my post. It's real easy to do.:)

We watched two different conferences then. Little Big Planet 3, Entwined, The Order, Uncharted 4, the ridiculous number of indies (a good number of which are coming to PS4 first), Bloodborne, The Last of Us Remastered, Ratchet and Clank Remake, Grim Fandango remake....

That's just the shit I can remember off the top of my head and most of it was gameplay footage as opposed to CG trailers.

A bunch of remakes, another zombie fest The Order, indies no one really gives a damn about in the grand scheme, games we already knew about and a high res point and click?

They hung their hat at the end of their show on Uncharted 4 (which everyone knew was coming) and two 3rd party games. Batman and GTA 5. Difference is MS didn't show all the multimedia BS that they got ripped apart for last year even though they had better games as well last year.

Both shows sucked. MS was just a slightly lower level of suck.

Isn't this a movie

edit: oh nvm, must've missed it

You seem more invested/angry about it then I am though and your comments are amazing reductive considering MS hung thier hat on a collection of Halo titles and pure nostalgia with a remake in Phantom Dust and a Crackdown CG trailer. None of these things are coming in 2014.

I own an Xbox One and I'll be happily playing Sunset Overdrive, Inside and Ori (you know two of those Indies no one gives a fuck about) but I thought Sony had the stronger catalog. To each their own.

I liked Sonys conference. Games, games, games. Worst part was the Powers bit but that wasn't for me I guess.

I haven't played the Last of Us but it looks like someone dies. I'm not surprised since the box practically says "Someone gonna die".

I haven't played GTA5 either so that's awesome.

Was the biggest reveal Grim Fandango? Or Suda 51's game?

I can't wait for the Sega press conference.
Too soon.
Never played Grim Fandango
It was the shit.

Meh. Participation medals all around. Can't reward being better than meh. That's what Schiano would do at the tail end of his coaching career.

Then well just say you have shitty tastes compared to mine.
:p joking. Love you!

I just don't like hypocrites (not you necessarily) . MS got bashed last year for all the non gaming shit and I have yet to see many people get on Sony for doing the same exact thing this year.

And HALO:TMC aka "The Green Box" is a tremendous and awesome value and haters can just suck it

Powerstone 3!

If only...

Why would Sega show a Capcom game at their conference? Unless its a Dreamcast 2 launch title.

You guys are over exaggerating Sonys conference. It was solid but the Halo Master Chief Collection sold me on the Xbox One. Microsoft came out swinging with games and the fact that they have dropped the Kinect proves to me they're going back to the hardcore gamers.

It'll have all the multiplayforn games PS4 has plus better exclusives at this point IMO. Bllodbourne looks amazing but other than that it's hard to get excited for much else at this point.

I'm not really a fan of the Uncharted series and while I like LBP I think I've had enough of the series.

I still can't believe we didn't see The Last Guardian. Not even a brief trailer? Come the fuck on Sony we've waited long enough. Shadow of the Colossus came out when I was in high school.

Yeah, where they announce the Dreamcast 3! With Crazy Taxi, Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue 5, and Skies of Arcadia 2!

..this is why my fanboy heart no longer feels.

Also the localization of Yakuza 5 and the PS4 one.

That would have been a megaton for me.

I did nearly have a heart attack when they mentioned Paradox and I thought for a minute they were somehow porting Europa Universalis or something to PS4.

Amusingly from my Facebook post on the topic in question from a half hour ago:

Outside of the 30 minutes of dull suit guy talking about stuff and garbage TV talk, Sony killed it. GREAT conference. Fantastic variety of games!! GRIM FUCKING FANDANGO!!

https://www.facebook.com/romier.silvera

I was in a chat room with a bunch of friends pissing and moaning the whole time at that Powers TV show nonsense. They could have cut all of that shit right out and I would have felt even better about the show.:D

Only thing that looks sick was Entwined if I was still in high school skipping a day to eat shrooms.
Its up on PSN right now. Have to grab it.

It's coming. I heard a rumor Sega and Atari are jumping back in the console market. I have top sources on this too.

Really though, Tom Penny was right. Munn's texts won the day. All these games are just the same old same old. We need a massive technology leap to really have anything new happen with games

Now I have to agree with Kas. Fuck you people.

Mech remember when I used to be a huge Nintendo fanboy on Cloudchaser, and the first time I played Xbox Live was with you and a couple of other CCers on Mech Assault.

Good times.

I am also very interested to see what Nintendo had tomorrow. The companies survival is on the line at this point IMO.

Kinda the reason I'm not all that against Nintendo doing a Direct for E3 instead of a bloated conference. Get rid of all the fluff and pointless showmanship.

Course they still have to deliver the goods. I'm still shaken from their 2012 disappointment.

The current Sega is a zombie with a pinball pachinko company crawling around in its skin. I can't get excited for anything (Yakuza included) they announce.

If Sega Wow Overworks or whatever they'd be called if they still made games had a title announced, I'd be excited. But basically all of Sega's talented dev groups were dismantled or sold off. They are no more. They have ceased to be. They are dead.

Bizarre, 2K sports, Sonic Team, AM2, Smilebit, Team Andromeda, Sega Wow, Overworks...

Going 3rd party worked so well.

I keep forgetting about Ratchet and Clank. Easily one of my favorite series of all time. I will probably even see the movie!

I miss MechAssault. They redo Phantom Dust for some weird fucking reason and forget an IP that gave them sales.

Alas maybe next E3......MechAssault, Powerstone 3 and Speed Devils.

Well they don't really have much to be bloated with so it makes sense for them. No one is making Wii U games except for them and indie developers at this point so a 30 minute Direct lets them showcase their games which is why people own a Wii U.

Here's hoping for some amazeballs Zelda Wii U reveal tomorrow.:D

Remake for the original game coming, too. I was surprised how the announcement was so quickly glossed over. Original game deserves it. It could use some updating control wise, etc.

Keeping my expectations in check, but fingers crossed anyway. ;)

I agree with you to the highest level.

I watched both of those conferences and am baffled how people get so excited at these games. To each their own I guess.

Yeah, Mech Assault was great. I'm surprised MS hasn't continued the franchise. I think we'll see a revival soon though.

Kinect really fucked up MS first party studios for a good 4 years. It's great seeing Crackdown come back as well. Huge fan of the first one but for whatever reason I never played Part 2.

Then you saved yourself years of heartache and disappointment. It was colossal shit. Rushed by Microsoft and completely forgettable. I hope the next one can get the series back on track cause the first game was good stuff.

Sony, MS, and Ubi all had great shows. R6:s so far is the game of the show. Shit looked amazing. The Halo collection is such an unbelievable value. I can't wait for it to come out. Halo at 60 fps is going to be off the charts great. LBP 3 also looks amazing. Can't wait to see the variety in the puzzles they come up with. It is easy to see why both consoles are selling so well after seeing all these great games today.

Dave Jones was the lead guy on the original and not on the group that did Crackdown 2. He is doing the new one though.

No Man Sky.:)

...but yes R6 looked fantastic. Got a big time SWAT vibe from that trailer. I *heart* Swat 4.

Oh I'm aware. I have a friend in the industry who worked for Jones and is intimately familiar with development of both games. Ruffian was dicked over fierce on the sequel but then they had their own issues as well. MS has smartened up since then and I believe they'll give this new one its due time to be great.
