My high school basketball coach used to tell us to watch college basketball and learn from them instead of the guys in the NBA.

His reasoning was that the players in the NBA are too damn good and that we will never be remotely close to them.

At least he was honest.

Not really. Opelousas is just a really dangerous town.
Theres a lot more to do all around outside it and those are much safer places. Its also down the street from Lafayette so all the fun stuff gets built or moved over here. There are three places of relevance there. A Walmart, one of our fuel loading terminals, and the Evangeline downs horse racetrack/casino.

I did not go to a big school so I don't have strong feelings towards college sports.

Objectively I can see they are pretty shitty.

I never had a visceral hate for Duke or a love for any college team. One thing I will say in Duke's favor is I will always remember that crazy Laetner shot off the full court pass from Grant Hill to beat Kentucky. Even though college sports is shit that was one of the best game winning shots I have ever seen.

I know, right. I'm in NC now and Wawas are slowly moving southward but the nearest one to me is still 2.5 hours away. I have family bring me the creamer whenever they come to visit since I love the stuff. I miss the hoagies and pretzels and everything else though.
