NFL Offseason Thread |OT3| The Long Wait

Is it really a spoiler to spoil the absence of anything?

Well the TV show will kill anyone, so it's kind of a spoiler discussing who is and isn't alive imo

But, book spoilers
I hate Dany. In the TV show at least we see her tits, but otherwise it's an awful character. It's really just that everything outside of Westeros is boring as fuck. We have no investment. All those cities that get sacked? I have no idea which is which. No idea where Arya goes. Just names

Totally agreed.
Nothing is at stake and it is clear Martin is dragging her parts out because the events in Westeros haven't been completed up to the part of her invasion yet

I felt bad b/c it hadn't aired on the West Coast. And stuff in the books is a legit spoiler. But what went in tonight ... will be impossible to avoid. It's all over the front pages of lots of websites. Trending on Twitter

Reminds me of Downton Abbey. I wasn't watching the show at the time and it was hard to miss all the chatter

So is there any football stuff going on for those of us super duper behind on GoT? Oh and this is my first post in NFLGaf. Reppin the Niners all day errday!!

A look at the Steelers changes on offense to improve the running game

Back: Baron Batch. The great-grandson of Charlie Batch, inheritor of a barony that prevents the Steelers from ever cutting him. Actually, a third-stringer who averaged 2.0 yards per carry last year but kept getting opportunities. Currently fifth on the depth chart, and unlikely to move up unless there are multiple injuries.

Wow that was in depth, thanks.

Been a long ass time since we could run the ball. We have never been able to do it for an entire season with Tomlin.

He's great. His Monday column vs what Peter King spits out is so vast, it's crazy to think SI is giving King a billion dollars or whatever to start a football only website

The Steelers were the second worst team in the NFL at running up the middle, according to Football Outsiders. They averaged just 3.44 yards per rush, well below the league average of 4.05. Only the Cardinals were worse, and the Cardinals' running game was hampered by their passing game. (Note: Football Outsiders line stats are prorated so that one or two long runs in any direction do not skew the results.)

The Steelers ran up the middle far, far more than any other team in the NFL. A whopping 75 percent of their runs went between the guards. The NFL average is 52 percent. Only seven percent of Steelers runs went to the outside. The NFL average is 21 percent.

If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, then the Steelers' running game was truly insane. The Steelers' running game was predicated on doing the thing they were worst at as frequently as possible.

Outside of 2007, sure.

Team hasn't had a consistent o-line since That year.

Edit: thanks for the article squickie. Steelers o-line issues have been a number of things - talent, coaching, inconsistancy at RB, and scheme.

They are?

Crap, a whole website dedicated to Tom Brady and the three false rings.

Hmm... gives every Giants starter (presumes Pugh is day 1 RT) at least a B grade - except David Baas. I thought Baas has been better than Snee the past two years, despite injury. Both have been oft-injured so I'm not seeing why Baas is knocked for it but Snee isn't. The RG/RT spots were pretty damn bad in the 2nd half. Beatty I have high hopes for, as I do for Pugh. The rest is still fairly mediocre at best, so I have hope guys like Boothe and Snee can last it out for another year. Baas restructured and they have to stick with him until 2015.

I can see OL being taken high again next draft, either way.

Any of you guys pick up Call of Juarez: Gunslinger? I finished it over the weekend, it was a ton of fun, especially if you're a fan of good shooting mechanics in your shooters. It has some very cool storytelling mechanics as well. I hope more companies jump into this $15 spin-off idea.

Does anyone on the planet hate Rodgers more than King?

He was the guy who took his Farve away. That is something you just can't forget or forgive if you are Peter King.

If Joffrey survives this season after that episode I will be disappointed. They have one more episode to correct this.

The next season is just Joffrey's ascension as he crushes the usurpers. It focuses on his glorious reign of hooker mutilation and raping the shit out of Sansa nightly. That leprechaun guy dies too.

Also, tons of torture porn, because apparently that's what HBO viewers spank to.

Don't forget that the books really focus on the cocks after whatever just happened. Not so much of a focus on the perfect female form and instead a lot of closeups and long discussion about the various characters cocks.

Didn't Martin spend like 3 chapters discussing Joffrey's?

my fucking cable company is instituting a usage limit. Since I have cable and internet, we get a whopping 200GB.

if you have just internet, it's 150.

Shit's retarded, and we have no other provider available. You can get an extra 100GB for $20 ($15), or 200GB for $50 ($35), and 500GB for $100 ($65)...prepaid in parenthesis.

My neighbors across the street said they use 500-600 monthly (as they don't have cable and just purchase shows a la carte VIA iTunes, and they both work online).. My wife and I use around 200 usually. Sometimes under, sometimes over.

So damn pissed. I hate Armstrong.

Yeah how big it is and how long and luxurious his curly golden pubes are

To be fair, Röhm-Putsch is probably a banned topic and he is worried he'll get flagged.

Whoops, silly me, I always get Röhm-Putsch and Kristallnacht confused.

For some reason I've never heard it called that. It was always "the night of the long knives".

Edit: Jim Kelly has jaw cancer. Sorry Bills fans :(

I can't tell if Chan hates everything because of his job, or if him hating everything makes it the perfect job.

I hate everything Pats related and snesfreak. Otherwise, my job can be pretty entertaining. Did a prank on another crew, put some baby powder on their visor, that little shit pulled it down and it looked like a ghost busted a load all over him. That guy, I dunno how anyone can be his partner. He sounds like Mickey Mouse.

Oh and the morgue at this hospital, it's next to the cafeteria. I was disgusted, but it made it convenient for me to grab something to eat, soylent green based.

I've been drinking coffee, lots of coffee.

Had to do a morgue call last night, its awkward having the family watch you load up their dead relative's body onto a cold metal cart.

Helps with the grieving process. You're doing good work.
I have no idea what is going on in this thread.

Ez is talking about a lot of scary German words and Chan is not drunk.

The rise and fall of the fascist and Stalinist regimes should be mandatory education in high school and college for obvious reasons.

Great, now I'm thinking about a remake of "Bringing out the Dead" starring Mickey Mouse instead of Nicholas Cage.

Hey dude, thought I'd bring this over to NFL age if you don't mind as we've a tighter knit community and I'm about to bail out of that topic before I get stupider and get banned.

Honestly, I don't really know if I disagree with the degree or the principle of spoilers. In discussing the degree it is difficult to discuss where the line is/should be drawn, but there is a huge difference between perusing GAF, a community in which spoilers are punished, and perusing Twitter, a wild west free for all of pop culture. If someone has an expectation of their Twitter followers to adhere to the line they have personally drawn for spoilers, that is an absolutely unreasonable expectation and the OP has no one to blame but himself.

As far as principle goes, the whole thing is kind of a sketchy subject to begin with because it is so subjectively based. I've seen people on here bitch about a ten year old movie, and then there is the infamous case of Sculli's fish in a boat "spoiler." Frankly, unless you are on a strictly regulated site like GAF (and even here at times) any expectations of not getting spoiled by something in some form of media you participate in is going to leave you burned. I've never really felt like spoilers detracted anything for me, from The Sixth Sense to FF7 to Harry Potter

I was gonna say, who didnt get Snape kills Dumbledore spoiled?

And it was really silly because its way less of a spoiler once you find out why he did it.
