NFL Offseason Thread |OT3| The Long Wait

So 9ers and Cards had the best starting field position last year and the Eagles had the worst. The Eagles stat isnt surprising at all, they forced almost no TO's and they gave up a ton of 1st downs.

Edit: I see that the Saints were even worse in starting position.

Its hard to look back and realize how bad the Eagles were in every aspect of the game.

Special teams? Terrible!

Offense? Good between the 20s but terrible ball protection and horrible in the redzone.

Defense? Incredibly bad. Can't tackle, no pass rush, no forced turnovers, and completely lack of effort.

Coaching- Won't even go there. BTW did anyone here that Reid now in KC is running an uptempo practice with music much like Chip has always done and is now doing in Philly? WTF you Walrus why couldn't you change like 5 years go? Now you gonna change?

My contribution.

Offense down by 7 or less, has ball, with 5 minutes or less remaining. Can't get points.
In 2012, any team vs. any team, in the fourth quarter, 5:00 or less remaining, ended with Fumble, Interception, Downs, Safety or End of Game, scoring margin is between -7 and -1, sorted by game date ascending

Same circumstances, but the offense succeeded......and the team still managed to lose. (Packers @ Indy =(
Happened twice to the bucs, and once to a handful of teams.

Then the happy version where the team gets the points and wins. Surprisingly not many of those.

haha awesome stuff. Looking at the context is going to be so important. Probably will have to throw away drives that happened in garbage time, for instance

That Colts-Packers game was so good. I loved that Reggie Wayne showed the world how great he was in his own right, even with diminished skills

Toughest team to figure out is the Giants. Offense gained yards and scored TDs, not a lot of turnovers, the defense forced turnovers, but also gave up a lot of yards, but weren't too bad on points. Crush the Pack and SF, then get smoked by the Bungles and Ravens

That's an awesome link, squicken.

I still think the original 4/5 16bit games were great. Momentum works as a game play mechanic.

But everything else in the franchise is complete garbage.
The 16 bit games were good.

They only look subpar if you compare them to Yoshi's Island, but that is not a fair comparison for any game as most look like shit next to it.

I really hate the hyperbole on the internet. Sonic on the Genesis was not the greatest game or platformer of all time, but it was still a really good game for its time. Everyone on the internet is so quick to shit on everything and play the critic. Leave the shitting on things to FMT and the criticism to dickless assholes and lets not be so damn critical of every piece of mindless entertainment.

The STDs are spreading

Just as the news was getting better on Rob Gronkowsi's arm, there's word his back is once again acting up and could require surgery as well.

The New England Patriots' tight end recently underwent an MRI on his back to check on a disc issue he had dating back to last season, a person informed of Gronkowski's medical status told USA TODAY Sports.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the Patriots' policy of not publicly detailing injuries, said the issue is with a different disc than the one that needed to be shaved down in via surgery 2009 and that a final decision on whether surgery will be required has not yet been made. The person said Gronkowski will see noted spine specialist Robert Watkins in the near future, after next week's surgery to install a new plate into his forearm.

The person said the hope is, if surgery on his back is required, Gronkowski will be back within the same time frame as his recovery from the arm injury, which he initially suffered in November but has been prolonged because of an infection in the limb.

Ah, there are those old "injury issues" popping up again.

There's nothing worse than having an injury prone guy on your team. Every time Mike leaned forward to adjust his socks, I was holding my breath expecting him to crumble into a pile of ash.

On Gronk: Had heard he's battling "chronic" back pain and the Patriots were looking into it. This developments explains it.

These are the reasons why Gronk fell into the 2nd round.

Yep. The back was something that lots of teams were scared of, though this seems to be a different disc

New England better hope Danny holds up. They really have a crappy WR corps w/o him, and if Gronk goes down for a long period of time ...

They still have Hernandez and a possibly healthy Jake Ballard who could be something for them from a receiving standpoint. If he's healthy....

Back from my trip, trying to catch up on the Browns Hubbub. I see we indeed did sign Hoyer. Now we can have multiple fractions of Browns Gaf. #TeamWeeden #TeamCampbell #TeamHoyer and the last with sadly might not last much longer #TeamTL9.

Anything good happen in those Nintendo directs ?

This might be the year where it finally breaks down for the Pats. But then again, I'm a pessimist and have been expecting that every year.

Stop this BG, you're killing yourself.

There is no #TeamCampbell that team is bombed out and depleted.

Welcome back! Think Thad is gone. That was Shurmur's guy. Looks like league won't strip Haslam of the team. Guess that is good news?

I've also been expecting it every year, but I guess in my case that makes me an optimist. I'm going to take a different approach this year, though. I think the Pats will be a little worse than last season but I still think they'll win the division.

Maybe that'd be a good thing. It seemed like everything broke down for the Ravens last year, starting with Terrell Suggs' injury in the offseason, and they pulled it off. The Patriots haven't had enough adversity over the years with the AFC East being so terrible. Too bad Tom would never call himself elite, that'd really give the team the extra push they need.

What does winning the lottery have to do with it?

Come down for the Steelers game!
I was going to provide transportation for all the poors. Bus and oil tanker seats aren't cheap!

Pick a new team.

Yep, time for Gata to jump ship to the new hotness

Lol I'm not even saying I really want one particular guy to start at this point.

Jason Campbell makes early move in QB race
By Steve Doerschuk

No one is laying a glove on anyone, but it is hard not to notice Jason Campbell.

We’ve popped in from the first segment of full-squad spring practice. The first thing we noticed when we were outside was Campbell’s Roethlisberger-like size.

He’s clearly bigger than Brandon Weeden. He made Thaddeus Lewis look like a shrimp.

Warmups opened with several examples of Weeden and Campbell clearly demonstrating a friendship, a comfortable level of communication.

During one series of stretches, which required moving the width of the field, the quarterbacks chatted and chuckled with each other as they did the exercises.

Weeden is No. 1 at this point. He went first in individual drills. He went first throwing to running backs. He went first throwing to wideouts and tight ends.

About 45 minutes in, Weeden went first in 11 on 11s.

I’m sure it had something to do with the fact Campbell is a ninth-year pro who was working against a No. 2 defense, but he definitely had better sessions than Weeden.

Flipping channels to this soccer game. And one team is rocking Azerbaijan as their sponsor? What in the flying fig?

Oh my God.

How fucking right was I? I told you all and everyone told me to shut up. I was like 70% joking when I said Pete was doling it out but now, maybe 40% joking. Gotta think it invalidates Russ' accomplishments as well

The Pats break down every year. They just do it in January. This year I am hopeful they spare you poor bastards the suspense and do it in October.

God I wish bluemax was still here. I can't believe I just wrote that but it's true.
