It's pretty simple to me. I would rather my team be competitive and at least feel like they have a chance at winning it all than knowing after 6 games the season is fucking over. I think there's no question that in the end it's about winning it all.

Personally I'm thrilled with the way the Dolphins' season ended, and I can show you why, with math. Have a look:

According to my infallible calculations (look it up, it's called statistics) the Dolphins will continue their current trend under Philbin of adding one win per season. This year was the most important of all because it helped set this trend for the foreseeable future. Of course, this means that by the year 2021 the Dolphins will be 16-0, and we all know that 16-0 teams are guaranteed to win the Super Bowl.

Everyone who criticizes Ross for keeping Philbin probably just needs to brush up on their math. I would suggest PM'ing bionic as he is the resident guru in this particular field. Hopefully this post will help shed some light on what should be a fairly easy to understand situation.

This sums up what I was going to say. The most painful losses in my opinion are the ones where you're expected to win. Having a chance to win and then losing, that's what stings the most in my opinion. A team that overexceeds expectations should feel positive and build on that. That's what I think.

Great stat I love is that this Seahawks team is the first team since the 90 Bills where no player has any SB experience. Wacky! Could be a good thing or bad thing. Going in fresh to it all could be overwhelming, but could just be another game.

Losing sucks in all forms, but the closer you get the more it hurts.

The worst is when your team has the talent but doesn't show up or try. Second worst is when you lose by some bullshit fluke occurrence.

The goal with women is to get off. You are still getting off even with the bj so in that respect your night was a success. You didn't win the SB, you just won the Taco Bell Championship in a lower league. I'm sure this is one of those "grass is always greener" or rather "grass is always less brown" type of things, but I'd much rather have the Super Bowl or conference championship game losses than just a perpetual factory of sadness. I don't think I'd be able to be a fan of a team like that for very long. Certainly not a pro team that I have no personal investment in. I already have no choice but to be an NC State fan, I'm not going to choose another shit stain of an athletics team to support.

You are only as good as you depth. This draft and last years rookies have to step it up for you guys. Which also means you front office has to do a great job finding more quality defensive players.

Don't know the 49ers FAs but assuming they will lose some quality starters due to FA and cap cuts, if they miss too much in the draft their window will close in another year or two.

I know the odds of my Jets winning the SB in any given year is pretty slim. But I've still enjoyed the Rex Ryan era a great deal, they're fun to watch for a whole boat load of reasons. Great defense and some of the worst QB play you'll ever see. A head coach who is unlike any other. Some really awesome moments from beating Tom Brady's ass in the playoffs in New England all the way to the Buttfumble.

If you really can't enjoy watching your team play or what they've done in a year unless they've won the SB then why do you even watch sports? To be miserable every 20 years so you can enjoy it for a few months?

Here is how I see it. Before Reid and McNabb the Eagles were consistently terrible. Like god awful bad.

Getting to the playoffs, then seeing improvements each season, each game, becoming dominant, and ultimately becoming a good team which won the division every year and was a top 2 seed was fucking amazing. It was all because where we were coming from.

But then it got old. Losing every year in the playoffs and the 3 straight NFCGs. And then it hurt a lot. I would trade all those great years but ultimate failures for just 1 SB.

Still I would rather be in contention and one of the top teams in the league every year than ever go back to the 3-13, 5-11, or 4-12 seasons. If the question is would you rather win a win a SB then of course fucking yes give me 10 years of terrible and I'll take that 1 SB. If the question is would you rather be a top 2 team in your conference, 1-2 plays away from the SB, and maybe a few changes/upgrades away from winning it all OR be one of those perpetual crappy teams which don't even sniff the playoffs, I rather take the heartbreak in the playoffs.

Its why I don't get why BLarry bitches so much about Flacco and his contract. Obviously they need some time now (2-3 seasons) to rebuild into a dominant team but that has as much to do with Flacco's contract as it does with the retiring, aging, and not as good veterans which they lost or let go. With Newsome in charge and best Harbaugh coaching them, I would be shocked if they aren't a top AFC team by next year or two.

In the 49ers case, they are young at QB, have a great coach, have a great D, good OLINE, and good WRs. They do need upgrades, as does every team, but they aren't in decline.

As bad as the last 3 seasons have ended, it's definitely preferable to the near decade of mediocrity that preceded it.

That's never been my stance. We should have won the last 2 Super Bowls and gone on to play in this one to claim the three-peat that was missed earlier in 1990. Settling for less when that was a realistic possibility doesn't make sense to me.

Hey, Seattle lost in the divisional round in 2011 after going 7-9 (which I totally called) and beating the defending Super Bowl champions.

I was pretty happy at the time. Soon San Francisco can find happiness just beating us at home.
