I thought about it a little more and the Jon guy makes some excellent points behind a mask of pure hatred of the Seahawks. When you have a boundary between what is permissible and what is not, people are going to test where it is, because regardless of where somebody might say it should be what actually matters is what gets called or not. It's just like how, to use this forum as an example, no matter what mods may say on a rule, everyone is paying far more attention to what actually gets people banned, because they aren't concerned about being wrong in a moral sense, they're worried about getting punished in a practical sense.
At the same time though, you have to understand that NFL refs are graded on both calls and non-calls, and with stuff like the vague new rules regarding player safety you have refs themselves unsure on where they need to be drawing the line and so you get various personal interpretations of the rules depending on how scared they are of getting docked for not calling something. In other words, if you want something to be clear cut on the field, it needs to be clear cut in policy.
Also, a bunch of people are shouting how we get away with this or that, but they aren't the ones really watching our games and are just working on the power of suggestion.
The refs handed the Hawks their 13 win regular season wins and this Superbowl. Never mind that I have seen the refs throw a flag on pretty much every Raider play for multiple games, but obviously the Hawks cracked the code and are cheating motherfuckers. Ben never crossed the goa... Er what I meant to say is that this was a disgrace and I am not sure I can watching professional football anymore because it is just as fake as pro wrestling. Bottomline this SB victory was tainted and Cheatin Pete had the refs in his pocket.
