Hard to notice though between more footage and talk of Leftwich being carried down the field by his teammates for the millionth time (who hasn't seen this by now?) or Suzy cutting in to tell me how he fights with his brother. Gee, thanks Suze. Where's Namath when you need him?

My favorite line had to be in that segment. "They used to play football in the streets, and sometimes Leftwich would get hit by a car! But he'd bounce back up, and they'd keep on playing..." :lol :lol :lol

Anyway, holy fuck, that was a tense game. Hell of a kick on that last attempt. I just wish Roethlisberger would start throwing the damn ball away from time to time. Ben, there is a third option after "run with the ball" or "take the sack."

In Ben's defense, there are definitely some times where he did the right thing by taking the sack. Where he needs to improve is when they pick up the blitz he needs to get the ball out faster instead of holding on to it. Still, he was like 15-18 today, and that includes his spike so you can't really fault him that much in how he played today.

And his buddies had to carry him back home so he was able to punch his brother in the face and still had enough left to help his mom set the table for dinner.

The one where he was looking right at Duce and Duce right at him yet he still ate the ball was especially baffling.

He did good today, for the most part... though there was one or two plays he probably should've thrown the ball away. More than anything else, I hope the defense steps it up in the coming weeks. Fred Taylor ran through them and all over them.

Actually, he had 77 yards on 27 carries, that's only a 2.9 average and no touchdowns. Leftwich gauging them for 267 and them converting almost half of their third downs is what concerned me. That's why I hated the squib kick at the end, the pass D wasn't playing so hot, so why risk giving them ball near the 40 with a shot at only needing a completion or two to win the game? It wound up working in the Steelers favor, but damn it was close.

LOL fmt. rattay was trash today, wtf happened? hes usually a pretty decent passer. And you should be ashamed for letting the rams shut down your rushing game.

Thanks for ruining our season tho. Who knows if we'll get bulger back this year. Now we have to play against carolina with chrissy chandler. :(

i dont know dude. i'm not sure if its rattays injury or not. he looked very good early in the season. infact, in a game and a half against the cardinals + jets, he passed for over 600 yards and 3 touchdowns. ever since the 2nd half of that jets game he has just been complete garbage. i can't explain it. if he isn't 100% healthy, why not give pickett/dorsey playing time? our coaching has been worse than our on-field play. i thought our defense played amazing today (all things considered). WR's had been eating our secondary alive for the past 7 weeks, and to come into st. louis and basically keep the rams receivers relatively quiet with 4th and 5th string DB's is an accomplishment.

you say bulger is out for an extended period? i wonder what jgar has to say about that...

i hear something... shhh quiet... uh oh, they're here :(

glad B.Y. could return the favor this season by helping the rams out in a playoff race :D

Ah, you're right. I'm not sure why, but it seemed like more.

Prolly cause he did make a lot of the first guys miss.....and then I guess you found yourself being sucked in by the ESPN crew acting like he rushed for the NFL record. :D

I almost forgot one of the dumbest things I ever heard Theisman say, "Ben's not a rookie, he's a football player." Good god, my ears.

why would a current 5-7 team have to make it? we're currently 6-6, and we hold the last spot, pending the hawks game tomorrow. if we beat carolina next week, i think you should start to see some seperation of the playoff teams

Are you going? I probably will, depending on my buddy in Charlotte to secure us some tix.

No, I meant watching DE Peppers run down a "fast" RB in the open field was a thing of beauty. Not to mention Peppers' blocked FG, or his sack, or his interception returned for a TD.

The Martina melting down because of a punter thing was just icing.

So, after the drubbing by the Eagles, does this mean that we get at least a one-week break from all the Brett Favre ass-kissing?

• Smith: Favre's TD streak ends with class
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?id=1939488

Based on ability, durability, longevity, statistics and, most important, team success, Brett Favre, to me, is the best quarterback ever. That's just one (young) man's opinion.

The impossible happened Sunday. My opinion of Favre grew.

At 35 years old and in his 14th season, Favre has nothing left to prove. But he keeps doing things the right way. His Packers didn't show up for Sunday's supposed showdown with Philadelphia, while the Eagles proved in the 47-17 rout that they are, lest there were any remaining doubts, not only the class of the NFC but also in a different class than the rest of the conference.

Favre, though, showed something in the loss. As a matter of fact he exhibited a few things -- class, professionalism and perspective.

I guess you're right about that. plus bulger just looks fragile, im surprised he hasnt been seriously hurt sooner.

yeah your D did a decent job, but you gotta consider chandler was running the offense. he's a decent backup, but he hasn't had any snaps since the preseason. i'm pretty sure bulger would have put up 300+ and 30 points, oh well.

I don't know yet, but i really hope so. looks like this game will mean something for both teams, aside from being a revenge game for us. ill tell you right now, peppers will eat our RT alive on sunday.

I actually thought our secondary was doing an awesome job last night. We were just getting burned on every blitz we used. Our defense got totally outcoached last night, it seemed like they knew where the blitz was going to come from every time and picked it up. It was like that the entire second half too.

Still, I was pretty satisfied with the defense other then pressure on third down. They had to stay on the field for like 40 minutes and they still were able to stop the run and be physical. A lot of defenses will start mailing it in when they get tired.

The Falcons got their collective asses handed to them...never know which Falcons squad will show up and really it starts with #7, one would think he would have hit a stride by now...he just so inconsistent. Hats off to Tampa Bay, you guys really exposed us.

Good point. I think the problem was that LeBeau kept blitzing from the same side. Although, there were a few plays where they decided not to blitz or just sent 3 linemen and 1 LB and still got beat deep. And, there was that ludicrious phantom call on Hope on the one 3rd and long. But you're right, the D played well when you consider how they are much more accustomed to resting on the sideline while the offense controls the clock.

Yeah, it seemed like LeBeau kept blitzing from the left side the entire second half, but with the success he has had so far this season I am not going to start questioning him after one bad playcalling game. There have been a lot of times where his calls made the players look better then they were, only fair that in this game the players made up for a shitty playcalling game.

I have no idea what happened on that one play where their tight end was ridiculously wide open when they were backed up in their own endzone.

Regardless, the important thing is we played a team that wanted it more, arguably outplayed us, and we still came out with a W. Not an easy thing to do.

Big Ben > *

That, I believe, was a blown play by Larry Foote. At least that's what it looked like to me on the replay. The illustrious sunday night crew made zero mention of it though......they were prolly talking about how physical somebody was or something.

Damn that was an intense game...

That "illegal contact" they called on Hope was pure bullshit, but whatever.I knew it would be a tough game, you just don't walk into someones house on Sunday Night and expect an easy win.

Also, they never showed what Porter did to get that 15 yard penalty,I think they called it on Polamalu and just got the numbers mixed up.

Steelers had waaay too many penalties last night.

All things considered, that was essentially a playoff game for the Jags and we were able to put a desperate team away in the closing minutes. Big Ben simply won us that game at the end, something I have seen so many Steelers quarterbacks fail at over the last decade and more. You just see that this team is totally confident that someone on the team is going to make a play to win the game.

Can't wait for the playoffs. :D

Don't forget that lousy low block call on Stuvaints on the return where he was pushed to the ground by a Jag.

levious

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

seriously, these last few weeks are gonna feel so irrelevent. I wish we could just have a four team playoff between Colts, Steelers, Pats, and Eagles.

At least I hope the word parity stops getting thrown around so freely.

Yea that call was terrible too.

Home team usually gets the calls. The team that is playing smarter and more disciplined will often get the benefit of the doubt as well. Both of those factors favor the Jags.

But we had Big Ben. :D

Is anyone surprised when anyone in the NFL is busted for steroids? Hell, half my high school football team was on roids.

To bad they will all die in like 10 years.

I've been following the game on GameCast because I bet on the halftime over/under...doesn't seem all that exciting. But more exciting than the same goddamn coverage of a small shitty fire for the last two hours.

Ah well, could be worse. Madden could be one of the news anchors.

lol mnf had shaun alexander mic'd up. he was talking to jerry rice after he scored a td, saying something about "jumping in the water" with JR.

then madden goes on, and he's like, "if theres any kinda water you want to jump in, its gotta be rice water"

Not only would tons of people watch, it would be awesome, and it would take away most of the "No Fun League" criticism.

What a boring game...

... why isn't Monday Night Football any fun anymore? They got two of the best commentators in the NFL, but some of the worst games. I don't get it.

The NFL has the worst all star game now. It's just not a sport that lends itself to meaningless games...Therefore the pro bowl should be replaced with (or at least add this) a skills competition of some sort. Come on! I'm talking about reasonable games here, not a dancing competition (I'd love it, but they'd never do it) Get these highly competitive guys running dashes, doing a "longest throw" and "hardest throw" event. I'm sure you guys can think of some more, but it's just such a disgustingly lost opportunity

Answer: Not enough Roethlisberger!

Eminem

The reason is the games they schedule for MNF always end up being meaningless and therefore boring.

The last 3 years SNF has had SO many MUCH MUCH better games than MNF. SNF >>>>>>MNF
