Comparing the whole system of the SH3707 to the OMAP2420, Renesas's chip looks to run more than twice the polygon rate and more operations at a time. Rendering quality and functionality should be similar between the two SoCs, though.
It's not DS caliber in graphics for sure, but the point was how development support will make or break the look of the graphics to a very surprising degree. The peak polygon T&L, set-up, and throughput rate for the OMAP2420 is not clear, but it likely isn't too much higher than its sustained rate because there's no need for such a design when its susitained rate is already competitive.
