Pens/Stars game is getting outta control, now Kunitz goes. All these fights and the Pens' best fighters weren't involved.

Checking the box score I'm glad I didn't watch this game tonight, I would have been charged with assault on the wife at some point in the 2nd.

There was a time when we called ForzaItalia 'Greekboy' (a previous alias of his) until it just wore off and he became Forza, the username at the time. Will there be a time when we stop calling Forza 'Forza' and he becomes Hotshot? But does that mean that his presented identity (female with various male family members doling out strange advice) will continue into perpetuity or will he have reverted back to Forza with only the name being different?

Think about it.

I sure did.

On another note, I don't know whether to cheer against the Wings or Flames. Wings, I guess. Flames will undo themselves in time.

They didn't fare any better when Gunnarsson skated in his place.

I think the curse is harsh reality, Dopey.

The harsh reality that they are keeping things close and fighting to the end of the game? If this was last year's team, they would have been blown out by at least 6 goals, but guess what? They aren't last years team. They'll get better.

:lol Pittsburgh trying to be tough guys. When your Captain is Fraudsby, you're as soft as cotton candy. Enjoy the ass whooping.

No, the harsh reality that this is a team that will lose many games and disappoint many fans.

"Hey, we aren't as bad as last year" is whatever consolation you would like it to be for a team that was second worst in the league.

Screw the haters here :) holy shit at Crosby shaking the shit out of Niskanen as he punches him down to the ice. Great show by Sid. Canadian lad stood his ground.

How can the fans be disappointed? The only way is if they do worse than they did last year. I don't know of many fans that expect them to win the Stanley Cup. Okay, those are the crazies. I know that most fans just want to see them do better, and so far, they are.

Let me ask you this: I think you are a Vancouver fan, so if they make it to the playoffs again this year, and they get beaten by Chicago again this year, would you be disappointed, or not?

Now, would you be more disappointed that with the changes to the organization, that they couldn't perform better than the past two years, or would the Leaf's fans be more disappointed if the team managed to get better and move up to, let's say, 9th position in the conference and failed to make the playoffs?

Leaf's erase 2-goal deficit to beat Capitals 6-3. (2009-2010 season)

Not only did they show resilience against the Capitals, but they came back and BEAT them, whereas tonight they could only salvage a single point.

If we're going to use tonight as an illustration, as you are, then maybe this team is somehow worse...?

Detroit needs to play better in the 2nd and get this tied up, Calgary is not looking that good at all.

I know.

The game was moving at a great pace and everyone was playing fine until the officiating went to shit. fucking lame.

I know, and Lidstroms hook which led to the goal, lame, and so have some of the other penalties in this game for both sides.

I like how you try to deflect the question by showing a score that happened in December, a little while after the Leafs ended their winless drought. How about you take their position at this point last year, and where they stand this year? No improvement, I guess, eh?

Wings no longer losing. Does this mean the litany of referee bitching will slow?

Did you not see how many penalties for both sides were called in the first, refs didn't let either team play, so no, yelling at the refs will not stop.

Pens got hammered tonight. Time to come back with Fleury on Friday and see what happens, but there are more problems with our forwards right now than anything else. Ugh.

You're getting confused. Remember the premise of the conversation.

The Leafs are not "cursed". They are simply not a good team. That's the best way to explain the 7 losses in 8 games: they are not good. In other words, harsh reality. You pointed to the demonstration tonight as evidence that they're different.

1) I do think they're better. But like I said, that's akin to arguing that a rotten egg doesn't smell all that bad because it's not a pile of shit.
2) Your example sucks. The Leafs showed greater resilience last season than they did tonight, even though your example was supposed to demonstrate the opposite. i.e., that the Leafs weren't capable of such comebacks last season.

Now you're acting as if December is different. Well, why? Because the later into the season, the better the team? Then why did the Leafs start 4-0 before losing 7 in 8 games? And are you just saying that the 10/11 Leafs are only different from the October-November 09 Leafs? Does that mean they're at the same level as 09/10 Leafs from December on? Because that team wasn't very good either.

I've got the game on here. A lack of discipline merits penalties. Don't blame the refs.

Eh, some of the worst penalties were against Calgary. The refs were just calling a lot of stuff that shouldn't be called.
Now in the 2nd they've swallowed their whistles and surprise, the game is a lot more fun to watch.

All the penalties for the 2nd period happen within the last 30 seconds. :lol :lol

Hahaha everyone in that whole building was confused about what the hell was going on. The crowd, coaches and probably the refs too.

Yup, I had no clue what was going on until I saw the replay with the crosscheck to Stuart.

Bad loss for the 'Hawks tonight, but not surprising considering they didn't show up for 2/3 of the game.
Hawks are now 7-6-1. How's that CORE working out for you guys so far? :lol
