Was looking at the standings.

Washington is 18-7-3, on pace for 53 wins and 114 points. They have more points that every other team in the West except Chicago, and every team in the Atlantic except Montreal. They are fifth in the Metro and if the playoffs started today, they would be the second wildcard.

At least 6 of the 8 teams making the playoffs are basically set in the East already. Barring some extremely unusual circumstances, the only two at any real risk that are currently in a playoff spot are Ottawa and Boston, and even they would need to have something of a fall off considering almost everyone behind them in the Atlantic is either at or below .500.

The West is only a little bit more volatile than that, mainly because there's no real separation in the Pacific division at all. Nashville could also easily catch Calgary given their games in hand.
