It's a definite step down going from composite to wood, but I think for beginners, wooden sticks are the way to go.
I like this, I'd take him on a two year deal as well. I could live with three if it's on a nice discount.

Yep, finding the middle ground at 2 years is fine with me as well. I'd be hesitant with 3, and hope he's not given a NTC. If they do sign him for 2-3 years, they need to be able to move him at a deadline if needed.

If I'm Markov, I would not be accepting 1 year deals all the time. 2 MINIMUM and I completely understand and I think he deserves 3. If the Habs don't want to give it to him, for sure someone else will.
He's been good and bad, but I don't think it's a coincidence that when he finally got back from his injuries that the Habs played better.
