We have pretty good center depth, but the trade is still sad. Nothing tangible to give you hope about Kassian :/

He's a good fighter thus far? It is tough, and the guy needs to step it up if he wants to be a star, which he has the potential to be. Hope it works out for the Canucks, but I have to say, we're stoked here in Buffalo.

I'm still worried Hodgson being "shocked" about trade and going from the cream of the crop to the near bottom = he'll show up when he feels like it, if ever.

He's never being traded in Division

Just wishful thinking on my part :D

What the fuck for? The last thing the Blackhawks need is a lazy winger that plays no defense and has a $7M+ cap hit.

Didnt know about the cap hit and for some reason I've always liked Nash but yeah I do realize our problems lie with defense and goaltending and winger is probably not at the top of the list.Again wisful thinking lol.

Edit:Think I've plyed too may hockey video games :D

Edit 2: The cap hit wouldnt be a prpblem if Tallon was still GM ;)

Somebody tell me something amazing about Kassian, please

That would suck... I hope he gets a lot of ice time as a 2nd line center at least for you guys so he gets something out of the trade and develops even better.

His favorite player is Todd Bertuzzi, and apparently he threw a total illegal hit that got him suspended for 20 games in the OHL and he was also charged with assault in 2010 outside a bar but it was dropped..... Yeah, looks like you might have another law suit coming up potentially. Bertuzzi being his favorite player seems to fit him all too well.

And now he's in our division. Wonderful, wonder if it's a dream come true for him.

That's what I would like to see, but I think he could be #1 on here. Right now, for me, the microscope is on Ruff. Today Darcy at least made some progress in proving that he can be a decent GM under Pegula. I want Hodgson playing top minutes right away, don't lose him.

Nash's contract would probably piss off other long time players on the team who make less than he does but probably have better numbers and have done more for the franchise.

Well, some of those guys wouldn't have room to argue since they'd be off the team. Canucks would have had to move a significant contract to make room. I honestly think they'd be interested, even if Schneider's in the deal, but a long term commitment at 7.8m + the NTC is just ruinous. Columbus is ironically in the best position to keep him unless an Islanders-esque deal comes along.

There was an article on our local sports radio from a beat writer for the Americans (AHL affiliate) about Kassian a few weeks back: the reporter didn't really seem to keen on Kassian and his work ethic. He thought perhaps he was pissed he got re-assigned after playing so many games up here (should have expected it). I don't know, it could be a good or bad thing. Some things I've read make me wonder if his bad attitude is the biggest problem. Lazy, etc.

But again, he's got potential, and maybe on a higher skilled team he will flourish.

If Canucks are on Nash's list, I could see them being able to make a deal for him in the summer. Rangers will probably not be interested. Can't see Flyers passing up a chance at a guy like Suter to add MOAR OFFENSE. Bruins are NEVER giving up Rask. Toronto might have their focuses elsewhere (center, goaltending). Could get him for Pennies on the dollar seeing as if they are the only available trade option.

Attitude won't be an issue in the Vancouver locker room, the veterans have that tighter than a drum. Here's hoping Kassian can rise to the occasion, because all eyes will be on him as Hodgson's replacement.

Speaking of which, I really hope Cody lights it up for Buffalo even more than he did for us. I know he wasn't beating out Henrik Sedin or Ryan Kesler on the top two, but it still sucks. All the best to him, and I'll be cheering him on whenever Buffalo isn't playing Vancouver.

THat's the great thing, right now, he has the trajectory to be our #1 C. I'd love to see that happen.

Pretty sure Canucks were on Nash's list. The CBJ beat writer that took them off put them back on hours later (for whatever his word is worth), but it got traction nonetheless. Unless I missed another report...

Poor Nucks-Gaf doesn't know what it feels like huh? Bring back the persecution complexes! Woo!
So saucy today. I thought a Simpsons reference would get a laugh, not even more snark.

Would it be crazy not to assume AV had something to do with this Hodgson trade? They've had their differences if I'm not mistaken.

One minute you hear names like San Jose, Vancouver, LA - the next you're hearing he doesn't want to be moved in the West. Changes all the time it seems, that's why I said if.

Just not amused watching the meltdowns over depth players when I was told I was overreacting over a franchise player getting dealt. I just want Tabris to show up with blind faith just to make the yankee connection that much stronger.

I'd be very happy to see that happen, i feel bad :/ but his potential for icetime and good lines is way higher in Buffalo, so for him it might not be the worst thing... But personally damn. also, don't wanna hear anything bad about Kassian.

Agreed on both accounts.

Bias etc, but I'm confident Vigneault/Gillis are conscious of his history and will demand that he reign it in. My main concern is he can contribute offensively, not his reputation.

Only time will tell for both. I don't mean to highlight the bad. Obviously he has held his ground, but wasn't producing as much more recently. The first 5 games or so he really was looking promising. It could be a few things, and I would imagine some of it lied with coaching/pairings.

A lot of the stuff was just evaluating and close-watching a guy who was one of our top prospects; so of course there is the tendency to by hyper-critical. He's rugged, a good fighter so far, will add size and power to your team. He's barely played in the NHL, so there's a good chance he will flourish.

What is Hodgson's current contract? I don't know where to look for these things.

capgeek.com, no?

1.66 m, is that right?
