I don't buy the dad thing. If I'm Gillis and I think my team is better with Hodgson than Kassian this year, I tell the dad to fuck off. Canucks Cup window is right now, and I'm sure Gillis knows that.

I agree. Kassian probably wouldn't bring much to their roster right now besides toughness and that could have been acquired at a much cheaper cost.

Like I said earlier, Gillis took a big risk. Even though Hodgson will probably end up being a better player, Kassian, if he reaches his potential, will probably end up being a more useful player for the Canucks specifically. I don't think he'll make much of an impact this season, though.

That's a lot of the problem I have with this trade. Kassian IS a big risk. And we really don't need another PF prospect when we have a great in the organization in Niklas Jensen. I hope the kid can handle pressure, because he's going into Phoenix tomorrow with more pressure than he's ever had in his career.

Edit: Kassian's face just isn't the same :(

Jensen is nothing like Kassian. Not nearly as big or tough.

And yeah, the Hod-dad stuff is a load of speculative bull, imo.

True, and not nearly as mean either, but he seems to be more skilled oriented than Kassian, but still have a good sized body. Either way, Jensen's at least 3-4 years from making the roster, so it's in the far future.

I want to see Kassian slot in alongside the Sedins for a few shift though. Bitz makes for a nice bodyguard winger for them, but Kassian seems like a much better fit.

This is the first time the Oilers have been in Winnipeg in a long time, and while they are not the same players, I still hate the team for how they trounced us back in the 80's. That being said, damn they move fast. The game reminds me of the Jets/Flyers game near the start of the year in terms of pacing. So back and forth. Byfuglien keeps his points streak alive too.

2-1 Jets going into the 3rd. Finish them off!

Kassian is NHL ready right now (or very soon), too. He's had a couple years of development.

I'm up for starting him in the top 6 and seeing if he's capable of producing with some top players. The Canucks can afford to play with their lines a bit in the last 20 games of the season.

Duchene having a decent period. Once McGinn gets in the lineup, assuming Mueller is good to play, we need the fucking Duchene + Mueller line going again. With or without Hejduk.

Lol.

Lundy = too good

Now with more puns!

The thing is Kassian really wasn't projected to make the roster this year. Next year was more realistic. When he was called up he looked like a stud, but he quickly leveled off and just didn't look ready by the time he was sent back. He's got a shot and he is a beast along the wall, but he's SO inconsistent in his effort level. He looked a year or two away, but he could be great.

I'll be honest, I want both him and Gragnani both down in Chicago for at least 5 games to orient themselves with our system. But at the very least, send Gragnani down for a bit and then get him his 11 more games. McTavish has been doing wonders with our prospects, and if he can make Connauton defensively reliable, he could do the same thing for Gragnani.

^ oh god that avatar blows my mind

I hope you guys enjoy McGinn. He's really having a breakout year, so sad to see him go. Super stand up guy and puts 100% effort in every night, has gotten much better at avoiding bad penalties.

Yeah that avatar is making me sick.

Looking forward to it. Winnik is a fucking tank and will be dearly missed. If you guys can motivate Galiardi and find a good role for him, he'll be a great player for you. Sacco always tried to use him in a physical role and that's not really his thing.

I think Gragnani would have to clear waivers. He's played 60+ games and is 24.

Basically, if you're 25 years old, play 3 seasons in the AHL or NHL, and haven't played 80 total games, you become a UFA at the end of that contract.

So he played 15 games in the previous years, meaning he will need to play 65 games this year. That leaves 21 games in a Canucks uni. Basically the entire season.

No, playoff games count and gragnani played 7 of those. So he has to play 14 games with Vancouver (including playoff games) or else he becomes a UFA after the season.
