Nash asked to be traded... and then provide five whole teams that he'd accept a trade to? I thought better of him. Would have liked to have seen him on NSH (or traded to VAN for Hodgson...)

This is what I have left looking forward to. It's not even guaranteed.

German D, signed as a UFA in training camp, healthy scratch lots. Another potential, but no room to play on the roster guy...

Is he on a one way contract? It'd be weird if Buffalo got him then placed him on waivers. Though I guess it could be another Ales Kotalik kind of thing "you have to take this guy too or no deal!"

how is being on an absolutely dreadful team his fault? (besides signing that 8 year extension) ;)

Depth #7 defenseman. Plays for the German Olympic team, developed in the Pred's system so you pretty much know what you're getting in reliability in the D-Zone. He's not going to win you any games, but won't lose them either.

Nice - thanks. Sounds like a good #7 for Ruff's system.

I really do think that Kassian could turn out to be a great player, and this could look a lot different in 2-4 years. I don't get why the Canucks would drop a guy who seems to have arrived already, though.

Buffalo did pretty well after all those bad UFA signings in the summer. Them and Nashville are the winners of this boring ass deadline.

Standard. I don't see why they couldn't demote him but I guess given the guy's history he might bolt for Europe instead.

We only had two UFA signings - Leino and Ehrhoff. Only one is remotely bad (And in this case, I mean a complete bust).

Been pretty proudly a 'Nucks supporter in these threads in the past. They're well liked in Buffalo in general, based on my personal experience.

I hope the Jackets get absolutely nothing for him.

Rangers final offer:

Dubinsky, Tim Erixon, J.T. Miller, Christian Thomas, 1st rounder 2012. In the summer they will be lucky to get Dubinsky from the Rangers for a player that wants out and has an NTC

Sather apparently offered us a 1st, Roszival and Zherdev for Heatley a few years ago :lol

But Heatley's agent leaked his trade request not us.

Yeah, it seems like he'll be on the roster as the 6th or 7th guy. I just would probably rather see Buffalo go with 6 guys and call up Brayden McNabb or TJ Brennan as needed.

LOL...that GM is nuts.

No doubt, but since the Sabres are at the back end of the playoff hunt this is probably their time to start playing everyone and seeing what they've got. I mean, the Canucks got him for nothing so why not kick the tires?

I still can't make sense of this trade. Takes away our depth at centre and hampers our offense. I hate everything and everyone at this point.

We have pretty good center depth, but the trade is still sad. Nothing tangible to give you hope about Kassian :/

(or traded to VAN for Hodgson...)

NTC (as mentioned) but also just a huge cap disparity. I'd love to see Nash on the team too but he would immediately become the #1 biggest contract on the team. With Nash locked in at a high number that means trouble when we have to resign the other big money players on the roster.

Red Wings certainly do it better than everyone else. I'll give you that.

Unfortunately we went away from that and only have one now, but man is he a good one, too bad he is injured. :/

Also with D and Lidstrom most likely out against Columbus tonight, I'm gonna say a Columbus victory, only upside to this game is watching Brendan Franchise play!!

I'm kidding on the Franchise part.

Nash's contract would probably piss off other long time players on the team who make less than he does but probably have better numbers and have done more for the franchise.

I need to buy a giant digital clock counting down the days and hours until draft day, and put it right above my computer.
