I think the NHL eventually will. They're still clinging to the idea that shootouts bring in casual fans but I've found casuals that watch the games with me enjoy 3v3 more. Anecdotal but that's been my experience.

Last year's was genuinely fun and even borderline exciting at times. This one is...not so far.
