TBH I think Markie would retire and/or go home to the KHL before accepting a trade, At this stage of his career I'm sure he sees himself as a career Hab.

The instigator rule is among the stupidest rules in all of sports. I've seen hundreds of times where a guy gets sent on the ice with the express reason to pick a fight and doesn't get one. The only time I ever see it called is when a guy sticks up for a teammate who gets cheap-shotted.

He's only 34, and his biggest strength is his hockey IQ and vision which doesn't become worse with age. The hybrid icing also helps him by not having to get beat Into the boards for icings anymore. They'd be stupid to not sign him for 2 years or so. If they don't resign him, who's going to play his 25 mins, plus PP and PK minutes?

Don't have 5.1 currently, but I've wanted to do that.

Problem is I really enjoy bitching about these guys.

Ranger has looked pretty good out there so far. I've barely noticed him which means he hasn't been fucking up like we're used to.

My point was simply that he's not a part of any kind of long term plans.

What was once his bread and butter, his skating, is gone. How many times in the past 2 years have we seen him get caught pinching and be unable to get even close to getting back?

He looks great right now because......prime Subban is out there with him to cover his ass and make him look great...kinda like prime Markov once did for Komisarek.

He can still think the game at a high level and is still a great passer and a PP specialist, so of course he has value, but at 34 and on a young team.....I'd say another 2 years max (and injury-free) is about all we can hope for.

I agree with you there, I preferably only want him for 2 years right now. 3 maybe, but 4 I wouldn't be happy.
