NHL October 2014 |OT| Leafs Suck, And Then You Die

I hope Mclaren's cut. We have no need for him. Orr could be cut too, and I'd be fine with it. Nice guy, but I don't like the goon squad 4th line.

As for Habs being top 4: I don't think that'll be the case. They don't have enough talented players.

So if Duclair and Hayes are both staying, and if Mueller is sticking around as his not being waived with the rest of the group yesterday suggests, that would make it seem like Jesper Fast is the guy who misses out on the roster.

That would be a big surprise as 1) he played in the playoffs last season, 2) he made the team out of camp last season, 3) he clearly improved his game in the off-season and added some much needed offense (3 goals in the preseason, his first of any kind in the NHL) to his already smart defensive play, and 4) he seemed like a virtual lock and was much more productive than, say, Hayes throughout preseason.

We should likely get confirmation of the Rangers' final 23 in about an hour when their practice starts.

Yeah I'm kinda confused. It seems Fast is a victim of our center issues. If they're keeping Hayes and Mueller it has to be because of that. Have a feeling he'll be a call up and maybe Hayes or Mueller are placed in AHL/waived when Step is off LTIR if everyone else is healthy. That or Duke gets sent back to juniors in 10 games. Well see how that goes.

I want AGally at centre but MT's a moron, so not only will he be stuck on wing, but even worse it will be on the shutdown line. Ugh.

Here's what I see MT rolling:

Patches-DD-PAP
AGally-Pleks-Sekac
Bourque-Eller-Gallagher
Prust-Malhota-Weise

Bournival
Moen

What I'd prefer:

Patches-AGally-DD
PAP-Pleks-Sekac
Bourque-Eller-Gallagher
Prust-Malhota-Weise

Bournival
Moden traded

Dylan McIlrath, Marek Hrivik, Oscar Lindberg, and Ryan Haggerty assigned to the Wolf Pack.

Jesper Fast is on the ice.

Kevin Hayes and Chris Mueller are still with the team. Hayes might be there only because he's day to day with an injury and can't be sent down yet. Could be the explanation. Either that or they're holding onto an extra forward for now just in case they can't ditch a contract in time to keep Duclair.

Franson/Leivo probably can't make it for the season opener, so I imagine Percy will debut. Good for Percy.

Now about the other 1st round pick in the same draft.. cough cough..

Pretty great to watch all these goons get shown the door. Meanwhile Florida is still going to pay Thorton, but it's a great start.

Here's what I see MT rolling:
Lines will be :

67-51-15
27-14-11
17-81-26
8-20-22

74-76
79-77
28-43

That's what they've rolled at practice. Pleks line won't be a shut down line, if they need to shutdown a certain player or line, Therrien will probably rotate someone, and that 4th line can be pretty defensively responsible. I'm expecting both Sekac & Beaulieu to move up the line up in 2-3 months.

Angels need to go back to effective small ball. It was painful seeing KC play better long ball and still play small ball. At least hockey is almost here. I can forget about baseball until spring training and I guess the World Series.

Nah dude, this wasn't an issue with team identity or the fundamental strategy of their game. This was the combination of a choke job (just look at their body language on the bench, they wanted to go home as soon as that first at bat was over in game 1) and KC coming in and taking advantage of every mistake. Hopefully this can serve as an inspiration to these guys to get their shit together and act like they want to win next post season. Mike Trout has to be incensed.

It reminded me of Game 7 of the Ducks/Kings series. One team came out playing like they wanted to win, and the other just came out.

From that article on Kessel:

When asked to describe himself, he itches his scruffy blond beard and says “I don’t know” and “that’s a tough question” and “right?” a bunch of times. He quotes his Twitter bio: “Nice guy, tries hard, loves the game.” Kessel stole the line from former Bruins teammate Marc Savard, who’d go through opposing teams’ lineups before games and describe any players he didn’t know that way.

That's where he got it from, it's funnier if you just assume it's his own awkward wording.

#CBJ have agreed to terms with C Ryan Johansen on a 3-year contract. Official announcement to come.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie · 3m 3 minutes ago
AAV on Johansen extension with CBJ is $4M.

Jackets got Johansen signed.

Methot place on injured reserves and Lazar and Hoffman make the team. No real surprises, I would have like to keep Pageau over Lazar (only because it realistically is the only choice thanks to the Greening contract), but Lazar does deserve a shot.

Sens are trying to move a forward, apparently too.

Looks like the Rangers lineup is:

Kreider-St.Louis-Nash
Hagelin-Brassard-Zuccarello
Duclair-Miller-Stempniak
Glass-D.Moore-Fast
Extras: Malone, Mueller
IR: Hayes
LTIR: Stepan

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Boyle
J.Moore-Klein
Hunwick

Lundqvist
Talbot

I'm guessing Hayes gets shipped out to Hartford as soon as he's no longer listed as "day-to-day."

Hunwick apparently just took Kreider's skate to the face and was bleeding all over the place.

This dumb fucking team.

Greening and Condra chosen over Pageau.
Michalek in the top 6
Lazar and Hoffman stuck on the 4th line with Neil
Smith on the 3rd line
Philips in the top 4
Gryballs over Weircioch

They deserve everything that gets to them this year.

Weiss, Cleary and Nestrasil wearing gray, an early indication on the outside of the 12 forwards dressing Thursday.

Is this real life?

Though I wonder why Weiss won't be playing, just seems really strange.

Good Canadian Kid like Cleary needs to show the commies how to play the right way, Crazed.

He'll show them how to play the good way from the press box!

Wat?! Is Galchenyuk even ready for 1C?

I would have expected him in the AHL in order to get adjusted to the NA game
Only vibe I've gotten from management is that he'd go back to Sweden this whole time. I really don't know where the 'toss him in the AHL' even came from.

...aaaaaaaaaaand you're telling me they stuck him on the 4th line????????

Nylander confirmed back to Sweden
Budaj put on waivers, Pavelec's team!
So...Razorskin, you wanna comment on this? What is Winnipeg doing? Their first trade and they send him through waivers??????

Winnipeg putting Budaj on waivers doesn't make much sense, after the trade.

Budaj's merely okay, but Pavelec isn't that good of a starter.

WTF is Winnipeg doing? :D

Also, Chris Mueller was put on waivers today, so that's that. With Stepan on LTIR, the Rangers are now at 23.

Now to dish off a contract somewhere.
