Holy crap, this Blue Jackets fight song is the worst thing I've ever heard!
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
THROW EM UNDER THE BUS
...at least I think that's what they're chanting.
edit: woops, that's "WARM UP THE BUS". I like mine better.
Somebody needs to be fired.FORT ST. JOHN, British Columbia -- The Stanley Cup spent Sunday night in luggage limbo. The fabled trophy disappeared during an Air Canada flight from Vancouver to Fort St. John over the weekend when Vancouver airline officials removed it from the plane because of weight restrictions.
Walter Neubrand, keeper of the Cup, was delivering the trophy to Jake Goertzen, head scout for the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning. As the two waited by the baggage claim, it didn't take long for them to realize something was wrong.
"We were waiting for it to come out," Goertzen said. "Everybody's bag was there, except the Cup."
Air Canada agents checked the plane, but there was no sign of the Cup or its special travel container. After a call to Vancouver, they learned the 35-pound Cup was sitting in the Vancouver airport's luggage area 750 miles away. It was too heavy to fly.
Air Canada spokeswoman Laura Cooke said the Cup was held in a secured facility overnight and flown to Fort St. John to be "placed in its rightful hands" early Monday. Cooke said the airline is reviewing how the mistake occurred. Goertzen described the situation as a nightmare. "[Neubrand] told them specifically it was the Stanley Cup," Goertzen said. "He is just so distraught."
Fitness gym owner Brent Lock, who had planned to view the Cup Sunday night, said he doesn't understand how Air Canada could have left it behind.
"It's not like it's a brown paper bag; it's the holy grail," he said. "It's probably the most important non-religious artifact in Canada."
calder said:Kipper making just under 3 is fair I guess, but I don't like the reports that he was a bit pissed at how the Flames made their case in arbitration. Ah well, the players always pout about it when someone says something bad about them but when they switch teams to make an extra $50 somewhere suddenly it's all just business.
Heh, he just said that this didn't look like an exhibition game at all.Socreges said:Either this commentator is really excitable or its just an unusually intense exhibition game.
YOU DESERVE THAT 268% RAISE. Kipper was very underpaid for a #1... if they had lost in the first round I'd say 1.5 mill would be enough for Kipper but he did follow up a great season with a great playoffs. That's ususally enough to get you ranked in the top 10 of goalies, so the money isn't that bad. If he'd gotten a long term deal for that much then that would have been a real danger, but if (god forbid) he's a flash in the pan then it's only 1 year of being overpaid.Mainline said:NO ONE DESERVES A 268% RAISE. Hummm I wonder what's wrong with the NHL....

Fuck Leetch or Guerin scored. This second period is not agreeing with me.
EDIT: DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT do the math and think about what you'd make if you got a 268% raise. It's just a downer.
Without having seen them played, I'd sooner take Sakic, Iginla, and Gagne. I think they'll contribute more this tournament, but we'll see.Our best line wasn't even dressed.
Damnit, you've got such a woody for the guy. Quiet.Malakhov said:No one will contribute more than Lemieux in this tournament, in points sure, in presence? No one is even close.
Well after all, he's the best player of all time.Socreges said:Damnit, you've got such a woody for the guy. Quiet.
Most definitely.Malakhov said:Well after all, he's the best player of all time from the Wales/Eastern conference.
And Lemieux would say that Gretzky was best. If he hasn't already. Not sure what Orr's been smoking, though.Malakhov said:Even Gretzky and Orr said he was the best
That was ridiculous. Interesting, sure. But much in the same way that I find Most Extreme Elmination Challenge interesting.
Holy crap is that link dumb.Malakhov said:Even Gretzky and Orr said he was the best
Also, interesting thing I've found out tonight:

DAMN YOU LEOPOLD, YOU ARE RUINING MY PLANS TO SEE GAUTHIER WITH THE HABS!@#dem said:Leopold out with a concussion.
The kid is already on his second NHL concussion.
If that league plays a game I'll be shocked, Sidney should take em up on it and consider it a 2mill dollar PR contract for a paper league that'll last about 6 months.Report: WHA makes Crosby $7.5M offer

According to a report in the Ottawa Sun, teen phenom Sidney Crosby has been offered a three-year, $7.5-million contract by the Hamilton franchise in the World Hockey Association.
The paper, citing an NHL source, reports that team owner Mario Frankovitch made the offer to Crosby. It would pay the 17 year-old $2.5-million for each of the three seasons and, reportedly, would pay Crosby a guaranteed $2-million even if the fledling league can't get off the ground.
Crosby has been widely touted as the next scoring superstar in professional hockey and he scored 135 points in 59 games as a rookie with Rimouski in the QMJHL last season.
Hamilton selected Crosby first in the WHA Amateur Draft on July 17.
Martin is a solid, underrated young Dman.... but still it's a bad sign when he's on your elite team. That's like Phillipe Boucher or Bergeron making Team Canada. I still have no idea what play Leopold was concussed on - I assume it was a hit but no big hits were replayed that I saw.Martin to replace Leopold for Team USA

OTTAWA (CP) - The defending World Cup champion United States suffered their third major loss on the blue-line Wednesday when Jordan Leopold of the Calgary Flames pulled out because of a concussion.
He suffered the injury in the third period of Monday night's 3-1 exhibition win over Canada in Columbus, Ohio - a game in which he scored the final goal.
It may prove to be a crippling loss for the Americans, who have already seen Detroit Red Wings star blue-liners Derian Hatcher and Mathieu Schneider pull out. Leopold, a key part of Calgary's Stanley Cup run this spring, was on a top pairing on this U.S. team with veteran Chris Chelios.
Paul Martin of the New Jersey Devils, coming off his rookie NHL campaign, will replace Leopold.
``Unfortunately Jordan will be unable to participate further in the World Cup due to his injury status,'' American team GM Larry Pleau said in a statement. ``However this represents a tremendous opportunity for Paul Martin, who is a rising young star in the National Hockey League and a player who can contribute for us on defence.''
Martin had 24 points (6-18) and a plus-12 rating in 70 games with the Devils last season.
The U.S. face Canada in a another exhibition game Wednesday night at the Corel Centre.
