Ni No Kuni Collector's Edition for EU/NA [failure level well beyond critical mass]

If enough people make a fuss about it online, would Namco make some more copies to fulfill demand as a goodwill gesture, at least for those who have already placed orders? Or they'll just not give a fuck.

Because the demand seems to be there. Or do they not like printing money?

They could even say "OK, we've got x amount of orders that we can't fulfill because there's no more stock, but we need another y amount of orders to make another production run feasible - order now and once we hit the required about, we'll do another run!" and I'm sure they'll be able to get their quota for another run. I just want my Wizard's Edition dammit, I'm prepared to wait for it if need be!

This has turned out to be a gigantic clusterfuck, but it seems to me Namco can easily turn it around so that they make a bucketload of money and fans are happy at the same time.

Lol, have you not seen their facebook page? It's lit-up like a Christmas Tree. They'll need to have some sort of official announcement to calm the masses. It's brutal.

I got the cancellation e-mail with the code this morning, saying I'd get a cancellation e-mail within 24-48 hours. The charge that disappeared last night, reappeared, and it still has the same date on it 1/22/2013. I tried the UPS site with the Reference trick, and I still don't get anything. I'm just going to wait and see. If my order is really cancelled, then I'd like the charge to disappear.

After checking my bank account and seeing the charge post a few days back I figured I was fine, but having not heard anything since I checked today and found it had been removed.

Checked e-mail and found the Digital River cancellation notice in my spam folder. Shitty service all around, but I won't be too torn up about it.

Sure as shit....

Dear Customer:

Digital River is very sorry for the problems you had ordering NAMCO BANDAI's Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch™ - Wizard's Edition. Regretfully, we must inform you that because of an error in our ordering system, the available inventory of Wizard's Edition was oversold by mistake. As a result, we were unable to fulfill your order because it was placed after the stock was depleted. You will receive an official order cancellation notice within 24-48 hours.

We want you to know that Digital River does not take this situation lightly. We are implementing process improvements to prevent this issue from happening again and are committed to regaining your trust. While we can't replace your order for the Wizard's Edition, we hope that you will accept this one-time-use coupon code for $20 off (valid through March 31, 2013) on any item from clubNAMCO. Please feel free to shop today for one of your favorite NAMCO BANDAI games or pre-order Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. We are confident your next experience with us will be a good one.

great, now my guide is on its way BUT I DON'T HAVE A GAME TO USE IT FOR. can't believe i fucking cancelled my Wiz Ed EU only to get NOTHING. fucking pricks.

Those who received a cancellation email, did any of you pay with paypal?

Yeah, i did. I have two orders, one with Amex and one with Paypal. The Paypal was immediately taken out but the Amex was has been pending since Tuesday. The Amex order was made @ 1:00:36 (EST) and the Paypal order was about 5 minutes later. I received 1 cancellation last night for ,I assume, the Paypal order.

Had my heart set on getting the WE and since they cancelled it I'm not sure if I want to get the regular edition right now.

How appropriate that emails from Digital River hit the spam folder.

When did they ship most of these cancellation e-mails out? I checked my spam this morning, and got nothing.

I would like to know at least if the order is cancelled or not. Then I could go and get a normal copy somewhere else.

Just woke up. Checked my email NOTHING. Idk how I haven't gotten a single email from them. Also my order is still in process.

I'm THROUGH

So the so-called restock was probably leftovers from the original batch that had been canceled for whatever reason and now they oversold them. So they're giving people who originally ordered but had been canceled to reorder those, I assume.

I got a cancelation email last night, but I don't know if it's for both orders I placed or for just one. The charges are still posted on both PayPal and my CC. Digital River -_-

It is amazing to me that people who ordered in September are getting their orders cancelled when they made a big fuss about having extra stock to sell last week; that is quite the fuck up on both Namco and Digital River's part.

Does the 3 day shipping count from the 22ond ?

Meaning the package shoudl arrive this thursday

If it helps, I did 3-day shipping and, when I look up my tracking number by reference on the UPS site, it's giving me a scheduled delivery date of Monday.

Still no confirmation email for me, though. No cancellation email either, so that's the upshot, I guess!

Still no cancellation email but no update after "BOXED SHIPMENT."

Can't believe people who ordered off the original run are getting theirs cancelled. What a fuck-up.

I imagine those of us who ordered way back in June/July are being treated with priority but...I just don't get it, where the hell are the extra WEs going? Did they never exist?

Good question. It sure seemed after the Ninostarter campaign finished they made a specific number of NA Wizard Editions.

My experience so far has been ok and it's out for delivery today.

Got my cancellation email last night. I had ordered on the day of the restock pretty much when I went live. I just tried to check my order on the web site and it said I have no orders, so I guess I really am not getting one. :(

Is ANYONE who ordered on the 17th getting their orders shipped?

The charge is still "processing" in my account, but otherwise no movement on the order, no contact from them (even after I sent them an email asking for an update) so limbo for me like everyone else.

I can tell you that I pretty much won't ever order from Namco / Digital River again after this. I'm considering going to my bank and trying to get the charge cancelled.

Called Digital River, the robotic lady was just reading off of cue cards. She wouldn't explain anything and couldn't even pronounce Ni No Kuni.

This whole ordeal has left a bad taste in my mouth.

My question is, is this a NamcoBandai issue, or something caused by Digital River, or both? I would think the overstock problem would be due to Namco, since DR is just the distributor and organizes the online orders. Or does DR also control their stock of games, as well?
I'm hypothesizing at this point, but given the Ninostarter campaign it would make sense if Namco used DR's report of how many orders were taken to determine how many WEs to produce. So if DR reported bad numbers because their system is a poorly-coded crock of shit—which it is—stock issues would inevitably result. I'm also inclined to think that LiK is right about the "restock" being canceled orders from the first preorder period, which might have been okay if orders hadn't been canceled due to DR's shitty system not being able to handle address or CC changes. (To be fair, there was probably some overage in there too since manufacturers have to allow for damaged goods...) Either way I don't think the extra copies should have been put up for sale until all previous orders had been completely sorted.

I might be wrong, but given that every single LE release I've seen DR distribute has run into serious issues, I'm more inclined to blame them than NB.

People who ordered in the Ninostarter thing are getting theirs cancelled?

This is probably a bad thing to say in this thread but I really hope mine is cancelled. It's a nice package but not worth the UPS fees to me.

But it already has a shipping label so...

Is ANYONE who ordered on the 17th getting their orders shipped?

I ordered on the 17th and I got my shipping email last night. My order status has also been updated to 'Order Complete' on the Namco store page. I didn't receive a tracking number or even word on who they are shipping through but I think that is because I am in Canada.

You're going to get it if your shipment label's been created.

Man, I'm pretty god damn upset about this. I normally don't care about Special Editions, but I put off pre-ordering on other sites with the hope I'd get a WE, and for awhile there, I thought I made the right decision.

Same here. The worst part is that their store has such a limited, crappy and overpriced selection of games, making the $20 off coupon an insult.

this is even my first-ever Collector's Edition! fucking namco and digiriver.

I've asked this twice already and nobody's answered: how are you guys checking order status, shipping label, tracking number, etc? I can't even log in to their darn site. :/
