Nic Cage Arrested for Domestic Abuse, taunted police to arrest him

TMZ has learned Nic Cage was arrested early Saturday morning in New Orleans for domestic abuse.

According to official records, he was arrested for one count of domestic abuse and one count of disturbing the peace.

It appears Cage is still in custody.

Story developing ...
ources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Nic was "very drunk" on the streets of N.O. when a cab driver saw him loudly arguing with his wife Alice.

We're told the cabbie called the police and said in addition to the screaming and yelling ... he saw Nic push her.

We're told the police came and told Nic and his wife to just go home. That's when Nic allegedly told cops, "Why don't you just arrest me?" The cops then reiterated that he and his wife should just go home. Cage then repeated his dare to cops.

At that point, police took Nic into custody and charged him with ...domestic abuse and disturbing the peace.

Our sources say Nic is still in custody and a bail hearing will he held shortly.

We're also told Nic's wife is not a complaining witness and does not want him charged -- and says there was no physical contact.

He wanted to be friends forever. “Gimme your card. I want your card!” said Cage to the husband. The guy didn’t have a card to give.
“How do I get in contact with you?” Cage nearly screamed. “GIVE ME YOUR DIGITS!!!”

Darn it Cage, I may hate many of the movies you're in, but you always seemed like a pretty cool guy. Don't be doing stuff like that, especially pushing your wife.

I'm not going to unilaterally approve of his whole career, that would be dumb, but he's acted the shit out of some movies.

He's an incredibly decent actor who these days just takes jobs for money and so decides to have as much fun as possible in the role.

I mean, as a consumer paying to see the film, maybe that annoys me.

As a lover of goofing around, I can only respect him and find every film he's in a blast.

Seriously; all the bad movies he does are worth a single watch just so I can see how far off the edge Cage will push it this time. I love it.

Would really love for him to return to proper acting sometime in the future though. I miss him doing it.
 
Don't jail him. Just stop him from making any more terribad films. Whatever acting ability he once had he flushed down the toilet. Horrible.

Lord of War sealed his status as LEGENDARY. Fuck you guys and your Ghost Riders lol. As if anyone gives a shit about his acting in a shitty comic book adapted movie.
 
I don't see why you guys hate on him that much. He was good in Children of Men.

No physical abuse.. just a drunken argument. And thats not really daring the cops, imo. i was expecting a "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" type dare. Total non-story.
