Gotta call the new studio Fuckonami
This is just great hahaha
Gotta call the new studio Fuckonami
Literally 100% my thought as well.
Awesome. Great. Amazing. Incredible.
Not happy if this is true.
And before anyone says "would you rather not have him make games at all?", Kojima would've gotten hired fucking anywhere.
That wonderful PC port was possible thanks to that wonderful new Fox Engine they created, said engine will be rotting at Konami.
That's one studio, their marquee studio.
But they shuttered the Wipeout devs, had layoffs at Santa Monica, and staff reductions at Evolution.
Agreed. I can't think of a reason why Sony would be better than going independent, other than fanboy bragging rights.
Puppeteer, Tearaway, Until Dawn?
Wow, the salt is already strong and it is not even confirmed
I feel like going with Sony, and NOT going independent is a pretty bad move.
I can't see why ANYONE would prefer this besides for fanboy list wars.
But it's his life, I'll buy his games regardless lol
It's a shame we won't be getting great PC ports like Mgsv or Xbox gamers won't get to play his gems.

Considering how 'eager' Kojima seems to get this rolling (he's already forming a studio & talking contracts literally as his contract expires), i'd say they are gonna look to prototype as fast as possible. And with that, I imagine UE4 will likely be the prime candidate for any project they develop. It's agile, highly iterative, and with tons of current documentation that Kojima & his potential team could use to get whatever they want off the ground & quickly. No need to spend a ton of money creating a proprietary engine anymore; thats exactly how MGS5's budget ballooned to such an astronomical figure.
Yeah, just look at Knack.

Sony has money, and the best selling console at the moment. Sony and Kojima have a great relationship. It makes a lot of sense.I feel like going with Sony, and NOT going independent is a pretty bad move.

will he be able to use the foxengine? bc that was awesome
What I mean is that Sony has been closing studios and reducing the number of employees in currently owned studios in the last 3 years.
Santa Monica had a game get canned, layoffs are only natural after that.
Nothing indicates that SCE is going into cheap mode, everything indicates that one game that was horribly bloated and over budget got canceled.
You're reaching
Great news if true. I'd love to see him do a Syphon Filter game.
Until Dawn is very much an AAA games, Puppeteer was before they made the switch to small and AAA only and Tearaway is AAA on the handheld space (just a remaster/remake/port on PS4)
Why is that sad?the tears of joy on the first page are as sad lol
I'd prefer him at Square.
Hopefully Kojima's new studio is an independent contractor like Platinum Games & are just doing hired work for Sony. While I trust Sony to help Kojima out, I want everyone to enjoy the great games that Kojima has brewing in his head.
And if he got hired 'anywhere', what do you think he'd get to make? The titles they are currently working on? Kojima screams of someone who has been wanting to create a new IP for some time now. Heck, much of the features they explored for FOX engine scream 'non-traditional Metal Gear', then they slapped as much Metal Gear Solid stuff into the game, likely so they stood a chance at recouping budget.
The truth is, without him forming his own studio & getting a project greenlit by a publisher like Sony, we'd never see a 'Kojima' style game ever again.
I'd prefer him at Square.
Independent non exclusive studios get games published/funded all the time. Anybody would fund his game...The problem with going independent is money and resources. A publisher like Sony solves both problems.
