just looking at it from a long history on GAF
In this case, they were clearly the eyes (not even moved from their original position).
Anyway, since they're not really needed for the joke (they were just part of the heads), I removed them entirely :p

So I've been browsing through the 3DS manual. It seems like there's some button combos that do stuff.

When you're playing 3DS games both (L+R+Y) and (L+R+X) do something.

When playing DS/DSi games Start+D-pad direction (each direction does something different) does something.

Could someone please translate and tell us what the button combos do?

Turn system on while holding (L+R+Y) to force enter Slide Pad recalibration screen.

Turn system on while holding (L+R+X) to force enter Touch Screen recalibration screen.

(Both intended for if the calibration somehow becomes so screwed up you can't control the system properly to get to the menus.)

While playing DS/DSi games, suspend the software with the Home button and then press Start with D-Pad up/down to adjust screen brightness. Start with D-Pad left/right turns energy-saving mode on/off.

Brightness full, wifi on, leave the game running and lets seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Don't even know why I care, I'm probably one of the few people that does 95% of his handheld gaming at home.

yeah full out, but I wonder if the batter was fully charged before packing it in the box?
Yep, of course you can only get reliable values after the first full charge.

sing me up. I do like 75% of my handheld gaming at home. I've never had a battery problem with any of my handhelds.
I play the rest at work

So I guess this turns off Wi-Fi and the other 3DS features while in DS mode?

Isn't energy saving mode the feature that decreases the saturation of colors, so less power will be eaten up.

Do you know of a good, lightweight iPhone photo uploader? I've got regular pictures to post when I get home.
ImgurFree! on the App Store. I use it from time to time.

Too bad the 3DS needs to be charged first.
All those people would be a great way to kick off StreetPass.
Usually all electronics like this come with 50 or 25% charge or whatever. Nintendo handhelds always do this. So it's all good in the Nippon neighborhood

I'd imagine it wouldn't be fully charged. The first test prior to a complete charge won't be a good indication of life.

Personally, I'm more interested in how long you can stretch the battery life with high brightness. Sounds like you won't have 3D on high all the time since games require different calibrations, and the same goes for volume for some people. I'd like to see how long you could stretch the battery life with low volume and 2D mode should you require longer life. 3D sounds awesome, but if I can turn it off and get life similar to the DS when I need that kind of life, I'll live. That's more what I'm interested in.

It's not. I just ran to the car and pulled it out of the box right now. It's currently charging at my office. Hopefully it won't take too long before full charge. Shitty black looks sexy though.

Handheld generation anyway, yeah. Consoles and handhelds always do a bit of leap-frogging, and Nintendo always upgrades them in semi (or very) significant ways throughout anyway.

Edit: Well why not, happy new generation, gaf!
