What do you think the new "hard mode" will entail? I was just discussing this with another user but I'd love to hear your opinion. As the base game includes elements previously found in "hero mode" (no health pickups, enemies that deal substantial damage) it really doesn't seem that they would just give us a "traditional" approach here.

I'm thinking it could involve tweaking dungeons and moving shrines around ALA mirror mode.

I could see that, like a Master Quest. Or a boss rush mode like I said above. Or a horde/survival mode.

Or a wilderness survival mode. Link loses hearts if he doesn't eat regularly?

I can't imagine they'll just double the damage and call it a day- that would make this game incredibly difficult... I think a single hit from a bokoblin would then kill Link right at the start.

Day 1 purchase for me, more Zelda spread out through the year making me come back to replay is 100% exactly what I want.

I wonder if announcing this now is backed by data showing it will actually be a positive on total sells...

Who am I kidding.

How many people crying now will end up buying this pack in 6-9 months? 80%?

What's your point ? Of course i will buy it sooner or later, in fact it's precisely because i want to have the full experience that i'm disgusted so much. I never felt cheated by any DLC from AAA games... Becaue i don't care about them.

What a great poll.

Lots of people are angry that hard mode is behind paid for DLC. Nintendo doomed.

Nobody is excited for hard mode.
Never change GAF.

Pack 2 around Holiday is clearly what is worth from this Pack.
But it's still too pricy, for what we know in this very moment (almost nothing, I admit)

it'd be cool if hard mode changed the enemy AI to make traversing through the world tougher

Im hoping for a increased damage in a curve, i.e. early game enemies do 1.5x damage, but later you find enemies doing 2x - 2.5x and so on. Just so its not another "hard early game but same shit after you find your first bottle" hero mode.

I dont want that to be the only thing added tho, modifying dungeons would be great too.

You and Deku leaf vagina guy are funny.

Thanks friend.

Yeah, if the "Hard Mode" is something akin to OOT's Master Quest, it'll absolutely be worth the price point.

Nah, that's not enough. OoT Master Quest was included in the OoT 3D cartridge. This new Hard Mode - assuming it's not just Hero Mode - needs to have more, all of the enemies need to be replaced with their more difficult variations or just different enemies, good weapons should be rarer, ingredients should be rarer, etc. It needs to be a real survival mode to be worth the extra money.

Every Nintendo DLC I've bought has been more then worth it imo. Seeing people get so upset over such little things never ceases to surprise me. You figure I would be used to it by now considering almost everything seems to get some sort of backlash anymore.

Between this and paid online, can't say I'm happy that Nintendo is giving into industry trends I don't care for.

Honestly everything we're hearing about the game says it's already quite difficult. So a lot of people are probably going in assuming it'll need a hero mode like previous Zelda's do when it most certainly doesn't seem that way.

Not a fan of announcing this before the game releases. At least wait a month or two for the base game to speak for itself as a complete experience.

DLC itself is fine though. I loved MK8's DLC and would've wanted more levels as DLC in SM3DW as well.

This is a wait and see for me, but I'll most likely end up buying it. I never saw the point in buying a season pass when a game comes out and you have no idea what the DLC will be. I do have higher hopes for this being Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 had value in their DLC, and those games didn't feel like content was cut to be resold as DLC.

hard mode is questionable. rest seems fine, i will continue to buy season passes if they are good value and not if they aren't.

unless it's mario then i will buy anything at any price

Hero Mode probably still is in thst one has been a stable since Ocarina 3DS.

The new hard mode probably rebalances everything into something harder. Hero mode just makes you take 2 times or more damage and no hearts thats it enemy ai is still the same. If they update that etc with this hard mode it's certainly worth it.

We still need to know what that map feature will be it's worded poorly.

The trials stuff could be awesome if it is random and bosses from the game also appear there.

I'm totally fine with DLC for this game, but I really do wish it was included with the Special and Master Edition. That aside, I'm very excited that there will be a new dungeon and story to complete. I hope that it's worth it.

Well, shit.

Definitely not buying this early. Having bonus items at the beginning of a game always pisses me off.

I DO like the sound of an additional story to play by the end of the year, and going by Nintendo DLC so far the price is probably fair.

Fingers crossed.

Thread about Switch being region free is like four pages.

Console war on this board is out of control sadly.

Love the artwork. Will be buying the game day 1 on Wii U, but will pick up the pass later in the year for the Switch version.

Huh, was not expecting this.
I'm not opposed to the idea of season passes but I don't like that they're locking a hard mode behind a DLC paywall. I love Hero Mode / Master Quest in Zelda games. Will wait until I beat the game before I decide if I'm getting the season pass or not since I don't care about the three chests thing.

Nah, that's not enough. OoT Master Quest was included in the OoT 3D cartridge. But the original OoT Master Quest wasn't included in OoT, so I don't see why "in the original" Breath of the Wild a Master Quest version should be included.

I don't understand. Why should Zelda be free if, we can assume, she isn't just a re-skin of Link?

I mean, I'd definitely buy it if it featured a playable Zelda. But the optics of Zelda, a character people have wanted forever, being playable for the first time through DLC instead of already being in the main game would look lame as fuck.

It's genuinely amazing how ignorant some of you are to modern Nintendo. You've romanticized a company that hasn't existed for at least five years at this point.

What are you talking about? Nintendo games don't even have online! Friend codes! Memory cards!! Blowing in cartridges!!!!

obvious /s

Season passes and paid online however, weren't.

Paid online is true, season pass is false.

I like the idea of "survival" mode! That would definitely add some urgency not found in the main quest. That also makes me wonder if they couldn't change around the weather conditions for an added challenge. IE: Introduce cold/heat/lightning much earlier and in different areas.

I'm split on this. At least part of the summer DLC should be part of the main game (hard mode, map feature). I'm happy with the fall DLC. They spent 5 years creating a world and if they'd like to continue adding stories and dungeons to that world, awesome.
