I shot people I like more for less.
I am playing dual destinies and I am in love. Great game.
What about the Phoenix wright trilogy? Is it worth it? I have played only the first one. However, for 22.49 I think is too much for a digital release. Has it been cheaper before?

I think that's how much it was when it was on sale last time too at least. Definitely worth it though.

Well considering it's 3 games in one, I'd say $23 isn't that bad. You're basically getting them for $7-8 a pop, and each one is about as long as Dual Destinies.

How well are these Wii games selling at $20? $10 was such a great price that I bought them without hesitation. Now I don't buy any of them.
Well enough that they keep releasing them at this price, I guess. I know they should be more flexible and that this price is out of impulse-buy territory for some but I hope Sin & Punishment 2 sells a bit better this time around. It's sad how badly it did when it originally came out and the repercussions that might have had on NOA's decision making process for the last few years of the Wii, specially since it's such an incredible game, easily among the very best of its genre.

I think the only real issue with pricing some of these @ $20 is that the games themselves cost less at retail in some cases. This game in particular runs a solid $10 at many locations in the US. Regardless, I think $15-20 is a fair price so I'm not begrudging NOA much. At the least, I'm glad to see Wii games are back in the rotation, and it's hard to complain much about one or two games that are usually sub-retail being sold for $20 when plenty, like RTDL and Metroid Prime Trilogy, go for much more than $20.

I think Space Dave! is another 3DS game. Presumably. Eager to see it!

That's perfectly understandable, but I don't think Nintendo should be setting their prices based on what some retailers think their games are worth now. In 2025 Gamestop will be selling Sin and Punishment 2 for $0.01, but it will still be one of the best on-rail-shooters. Like I said, I think they should be more flexible, and I know S&P2 in particular can be found for cheaper, but this is one of the Wii games that will come out on Wii U that is most definitely worth the $20.

A problem with flexible prices is that everyone says they want them, but what they actually want is the cheapest possible price, so if Pandora's Tower was $10 and S&P2 $15, some people would be complaining that they're not all $10 and that they won't buy any game that isn't $10. I do think that $15 would probably be a better price for Wii games, though.

Excellent point. I do need to really play the S&P games. I'm assuming the N64 VC release on Wii U will be plagued with the same issues as most other N64 games have had through the service, so I will probably opt for the Wii Shop version instead. I do have the disc copy of the Wii game but I haven't played it. If I can get $10 or so for it, even including shipping, I'll pay the extra $10ish to switch my copy to digital. I do want to play them some time. Hopefully I like it better than Gunstar Super Heroes, which I think is the only other Treasure game I've tried.

Oh, yes, you do. If you feel like trying a great action game, that is. You know I love shooters, specially on-rails ones since I grew up on Star Fox. Pretty much everything about both games is outstanding, they're very memorable. Things can get pretty challenging but you could play on easy if you're only along for the ride, although I definitely recommend trying a Hard Mode run. They're a lot of fun and have a lot of style.

The first one plays takes a bit of getting used to on Wii Virtual Console because of the how different the N64 controller was to anything else available to play the game and it uses a pretty unique button configuration in the N64, so I think at least that might be better on Wii U VC (N64 VC on Wii U has button mapping, right?)

I haven't played Gunstar Super Heroes but I like what I've seen, although I understand that it's inferior to the original game. Have you played the Mega Drive game?

I mean, I really enjoyed the on-rails shooter section of Kid Icarus: Uprising, and that's the extent of my fandom when it comes to those. To be fair, I think I've only otherwise played on-rails shooters in the form of SF 64 3D (which I thought was a'ight, but wasn't huge on) and segments of Star Fox Adventures modeled after that (which I recall being okay, that game on the whole is an odd mess though). (Well, an odd mess with very impressive graphics.)

Anyway. I think the darkness of the emulator, if that's an issue, will bother me more than getting used to a control scheme. Maybe I can use the SFC Classic Controller with it. But I will give it some further thought before making a decision. (And I do think N64 VC on Wii U allows for button mapping.) But I will absolutely check out the game(s). Thank you.

Also, as to GSSH, I haven't played the MD game. I just didn't care for the aesthetic or absurd difficulty. :/ You know me, KYB. I'm a delicate flower. Violent, raggedy teddy bears do not sit well with me.

If this means you haven't picked up Kirby Wii (and don't have it already), you're missing out on a superb game at a dirt-cheap price.

It's so. Friggin'. Clever. Smooth. Fun. Amazing!!

I mean, I really enjoyed the on-rails shooter section of Kid Icarus: Uprising, and that's the extent of my fandom when it comes to those.
Well, those are a LOT like Sin & Punishment! To the point of both games letting you tap the shoot button to use a melee strike on close-by enemies or hitting incoming projectiles back at enemies. Both games are also different from Star Fox in that the character and the crosshair move independently from each other (well, it's like this also in Star Fox Zero). The second game is even more like Kid Icarus Uprising since it has a lot more flying segments than the N64 game had.

The SFC Classic Controller won't do you much good here, I'm afraid. The unique button mapping was due to the game basically being a dual analog game for a console without dual analogs. You aim with the analog stick and move around with the c-buttons. You need one analog stick at least.

Gunstar Heroes doesn't have an "absurd difficulty." It can be pretty easy, actually ^^u

Splatoon TRANSFORMERS Splatfest – Are you Team AUTOBOT or Team DECEPTICON?
Man, the 80s child inside of me has been having a heart attack since they announced this. They should do a TMNT one next. With the old look. Thank you.

You lost me a bit, there. Are you saying SF0 is more like Sin & Punishment, or more like the other SF games, in terms of how the crosshair and character move independently from one another? I am glad that to hear Sin & Punishment does not have that, regardless. I definitely find that a bit more dizzying to play. Glad to hear it's akin to Uprising. :)

Thanks for the head's-up on the controller. I'll give some thought as to how I want to play it. I do have a regular ol' Classic Controller I could use.

Haven't played GSH, but GSSH was definitely tough as nails. For me, at least.

So when does VS Excitebike release?

Sounds like it's either 8/31 or next Thursday.

I... don't really understand what you're saying ^^u I've been up all night. Anyway, in Kid Icarus Uprising, Sin & Punishment, S&P2 and in Star Fox Zero, the character and crosshair move independently from each other. You can move left and shoot to the right; the character is controlled with the stick and the crosshair is controlled with the wiimote, the stylus, the gamepad gyro, etc. In every Star Fox game except for Zero, the crosshair moves together with the Arwing, so that you have to move to the right if you want to shoot to the right.

I need to go to to bed or drink some coffee cause I just made that sound a whole lot more complicated that it should be -.-

Going back a little bit to the price conversation from earlier, isn't it weird how videogames are expected to go down considerably in price when they're old, when that doesn't happen with pretty much any other entertainment medium? I see it a lot, recently with the Wii games or with the Ace Attorney trilogy, etc. A music album from 1965 costs the same or even more in 2015 than it did when it was new. Other stuff actually go up in price as the years pass. I mean, it's understandable to want old games to be cheaper, but there's gotta be a limit, specially since the intellectual property is still in the hands of the original creators who have every right to charge what they think is right for their work and property, not what an employee on a random store decides a used disc is worth. End of sleepy rant. For now.

Today at noon EST I guess. I'm really hoping they eventually release VS Super Mario Bros. I think I have all the variations of SMB (Deluxe, Speed Bros, Luigi Bros) on 3DS/Wii U so VS is a must. It's where the sumbitches got the idea for Mario 2 JPN!

Vs._Super_Mario_Bros3.jpg

Based on the eShop listing, it doesn't appear the game is arriving this week.

I do think I've played the arcade SMB. I want to say this was at the arcade on the Santa Monica Pier, across from Bubba Gump. Very fun, and I'd love to have one in my home. I think my dream multicade would be SMB 1-3.

Totally my fault. I misread what you wrote, and misremembered which of those game mechanics I preferred...and which corresponded to each game. To clarify, I like the Uprising character/crosshair dynamic best, so I'm glad SF0 is similar. Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it. I didn't feel like it was overcomplicated-sounding at all. :)

Wait....so is Vs. Excitebike releasing today or not?

Next week, I think.

Yeah, the whole design gimmick of Star Fox Zero is being able to aim in one direction with the gamepad while moving in another in the TV screen. It's pretty interesting. Apparently unlike most Star Fox fans, and I'm a huge one, I'm actually hyped for it and my interesting will probably only rise with time.

I wish you'd give Star Fox 64 another try, man. I know you didn't like the save system in the 3DS version, but the game is designed around a short, arcade-like experience where you play through a route of around 5 quick stages and beat it, then go through a different route the next time for a different experience. Seeing all the different routes and finding the requisites to reach each planet is a lot of fun. It's not really necessary to save mid-way either, at least not more than in other arcade games, since the run to beat the game isn't very long, and the original version of the game didn't even have the suspend option of the 3DS release. Maybe if you go back to it after some time has passed with a different mindset, you'll enjoy it a bit more.

And I'm glad I could make myself understood while being sleep deprived, hungry and speaking on a different language! Remember that my third language is English, my second is Spanish, and my first language is mumbling incomprehensibly, so this is an improvement.

I'm just hoping you can turn off gyro aiming for that, and maybe even second screen use. I don't do great with having to look at both screens, up and down, up and down. A bit nauseating for me. Otherwise, I'm cautiously optimistic, just not to the tune for $60. More of a GameFly one month dealio.

I will take your advice about retrying SF643DS gladly. Thank you. I'll give it another shot sometime down the line, and I always am glad to reconsider my take on most games I feel middling about, unless there is something I find heinously offensive about them, which isn't too common (despite how it might seem).

Hope you get some grub and at least 40 winks (yes, this is a reference to the game, which I haven't played). I was going to say, English is your third language? When I read that, I mean. But I gotcha. I'm lucky if English is my fifth language by that comparison.

ZaciSa's launch sale in Europe was a huge success!

To put things in perspective of EU launch vs NA launch period:

2 days of EU = 1 week of NA
6 days of EU = 6 weeks of NA
Germany & UK are biggest sellers. Both around 35% of total sales.

So yeah, EU has been a big hit. Player response has been very positive and reviews so far have been positive (mostly 7s). So I'm happy.

Already working on the next free batch of content for Oct/November! Will be called the Local Multiplayer Update. Will give the ability to have up to 9 active players! Will add a new player controlled Bot as well as the Drone will be given the ability to fire rockets as a 2nd ability. 2 new maps that will focus around this. Plan to also make it so the Gamepad can directly control a Drone/etc now too.
A lot of this is actually ZaciSa 2 stuff, I'm brining it down to ZaciSa 1 for people to enjoy. Plus gives me way to help test this out.

Holy crap. I didn't realize that even existed. Ok. That's the one I want. It has save features? :-o

P.S. Doesn't this mean it's not VS. SMB, though? Just regular ol' SMB?

(Also, SW Trilogy looks super fun.)

Get Scram Kitty guys. It's pretty great.

Yessss!

Yup, it's really really good, I love it :D

Guys, listen to Kandinsky. If even an ancient, wizened gamer such as himself can enjoy it, it must be great!

Cool, I'm glad the German translation was worth it.

Huh

I went ahead and upgraded Sin & Punishment, and it actually seems like they cut back on the filter they've been putting on the N64 VC stuff.

lol, Sin & Punishment 2 is the first case where the VC release is more expensive than the physical release i got years ago.
i might upgrade the first one once i get around replaying it since i have the original in Wii mode.

I really hope Europe gets the Capcom sale next week so I can get excited to get Revelations 3DS for cheap and next realize I only have around 10000 free blocks.

ZaciSa's launch sale in Europe was a huge success!

To put things in perspective of EU launch vs NA launch period:

2 days of EU = 1 week of NA
6 days of EU = 6 weeks of NA

Congrats! I couldn't be happier for you. I imagine Nintendo's generous placement on the front page of the eShop helped massively. I tucked the game for the first time last night. I'm not usually a huge fan of tower defense, but I was totally engrossed for a couple of hours. The art style's really lovely. I can't wait to get back into it later.

NoA is really inconsistent with naming those downloadable Wii games. They called them VC last time and this time they are "Wii Retail titles".
