I don't know why the hate on Excite truck. I thought it was best looking and most interesting first party thing outside of Mario/Zelda. Now Project Hammer on the other hand, looked stupid (albeit a short clip)
i think progject hammer looked really good, though a short clip but we shall see when people play the stuff tomorrow

Why pay $200+ for a magical controller and Gamecube Turbo games?

It's like buying a tape player that comes with a remote over an mp3 player and you already bought a similar casette player two years ago.

Same deal here. If you want the high end of technology, sell your arm, and go buy a PS3. It's as simple as that. There's nothing magic about innovation. You wont be able to experience games on Wii like the other consoles. There's no alternative for that type of gameplay.

Jeez, they're video games, you look at them, technology is advancing. I play NES, SNES games all the time, doesn't mean I just don't ever think about graphics. When did it become taboo to talk about? There are plenty of redeeming qualities to Wii it looks like and those will be talked about too. We all knew not to expect much, but that doesn't mean it suddenly is never a topic of conversation again.

OK this is the last I'll say on this because it'll never end, but: Do you watch Simpsons over South Park because it has better graphics? It's TV, you watch it, that's all you do. Do you turn off one program because of poor production values?

Do you prefer Jersey Girl to Clerks because it's in colour?

I mean seriously, just say what you are actually thinking "I'm a tech geek who gets off on knowing how many polygons are on screen, and what shaders are being used" That's fine, but it's of no more importance than the quality of camera used on TV, or the lighting techniques used.

OK enough, I'm done, it looks like fun.

people judging graphics based on a VIDEO STREAM are hilarious :lol

I don't know about you, but I watched the conference via an unflinching 750k stream from IGN. Everything was as clear as can be. Wii graphics are not very good, and that's by current gen standards. A few of the games looked outright bad. But, as the suits said, the system's not about that.

Oh and why the hell didn't they GIVE US A ZELDA TRAILER? WTF.

- fuck with the 'buy a PS3' damage control. I'll be buying one, sure, Right now I'm talking about Wii AND IT'S A FREAKIN' GAMECUBE. I don't like that. You do, GOOD FOR YOU.

- I meant Mario PLAYABLE. As in miyamoto demonstrating the game and showing what makes this new console a 'revolution' in gaming.

Dude you need to chill out. 27 PLAYABLE TITLES ON THE SHOW FLOOR! I'm sure one of them is Mario.

Custom Robo™ Arena
Format: Nintendo DS™
Launch Date: Q4 2006
ESRB: RP (Rating Pending)
Game Type: Action Role-Playing Game
Accessories: Nintendo DS Rumble Pak™
Players: 1-2 via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection, Multi-Card Play or DS Download Play
Developer: Noise

KEY INFORMATION
Custom Robo: The sport of tomorrow. In the not-too-distant future, competitors battle customized robot warriors in holographic battle arenas. Victory is determined not only by fighting skill but also by how well Robo Commanders design their robot gladiators, so players need both brawn and brains to survive.
• Players explore a sci-fi landscape as they fight toward the Custom Robo championship, powering up their Robos as they go. With tons of unique parts, there are literally millions of possible Custom Robo combinations, giving players complete control over how they fight their battles.
• Players can challenge their friends to one-on-one Robo battles anytime and anywhere using either Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Multi-Card Play or DS Download Play.
• Players use the touch screen to customize every aspect of their Robo, including its weaponry, and then polish it up after every battle to bring it back to top fighting form.

Game storyline: In the not-too-distant future, mankind relies on tiny, telepathically controlled robots to perform such dangerous tasks as deep-sea research, disaster relief and interplanetary exploration. These popular and easily customized “Robos” also form the favorite sport of tomorrow: battling in the holographic arenas called “holosseums.” Now that criminals have taken to using these mighty miniature machines as weapons, the Custom Robo phenomenon has grown into a problem for the whole of society.
Characters: A young boy transfers to a new school, where he meets Robo-battle champion Saki, a young girl who won the championship partnered with her brother. Now, she’s looking for a new Robo Commander to groom into a champion, and in this young boy, she sees remarkable potential. However, Saki has a secret, and when the young boy discovers the truth about his new partner, his world changes forever.
How to progress through the game: The bulk of Custom Robo Arena takes place in holographic battle arenas called “holosseums.” Players pit their Custom Robos against one another in fast-paced, melee-style combat. Each Robo can be outfitted with different parts, from arm-mounted guns and bomb launchers to specialized pod weapons that have their own unique behaviors. Some pods pursue the opponent, while others lie in wait for the enemy to draw near. Players customize their robots by swapping out weapons, legs and body frames to create the ideal combination of attack, speed and defense to suit their gaming styles.
Outside of the battle arenas, Custom Robo Arena plays like a role-playing game in which players walk through the futuristic city setting and interact with other characters as they struggle to win the Custom Robo championship. The multiplayer aspect pits two players against each another in the holosseum. Battles can be played using Multi-Card Play or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and, if only one player has a game card, using DS Download Play.
Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Each Custom Robo is made up of a number of distinct parts: a body, legs, a gun, a pod pack and a bomb launcher. Each of these parts provides unique abilities. For example, guns have different ranges and effects, bombs have different blast radiuses and pods have different behaviors. Any part can be attached to any Custom Robo body. Players construct their ideal fighting robots and then take them into the holosseum to fight. Battles are a combination of the player’s skill – not only at fighting but also at designing a superior Custom Robo.

No damage control. You're going to buy a console for the graphics or you're going to buy a console to play the games. It's your choice.

OK enough, I'm done, it looks like fun.

Did you even read what I said? Why can't graphics be part of the discussion? You don't have to care, but I think it's perfectly valid to discuss them, they are a part of the experience. Doesn't matter what I say, becuase you're preprogrammed to say "Graphics don't matter" everytime it's brought up.

That was actually kind of hollow as far as information goes. It was like a friggin circus or something... purely for entertainment but nothing as far as info goes.

The responses from you clowns on here was priceless though!

Most of those games looked ugly =( It was certainly more entertaining than Sony's, but at least Sony's had information (and more game announcements that I didn't know about).

When I'm buying updated GC hardware I don't expect games that look worse than 1st gen GC titles. And if the hardware is focused on the controller, then I expect new IPs that showcase those functions fully rather than getting stuff like Excite Truck and Project HAMMER.

Obviously I'm expecting good things by launch, but these games should not be looking so weak, it just smacks of laziness
