I would say Smash is a big game, though I guess you could argue that it's winter.

With X and Bayo, they may not think they need one...I'm not sure.

I'd love to see them go:

"BOOM, NINTENDO SPORTS! 1080, WAVE RACE, F-ZERO ALL COMING THIS FALL"
 
Smash is the flagship title for holiday and mk8 for 2014. But sure there could be a bigger one. There is X and nobody knows how far Zelda really is if they could have shown it at last years E3.
 
My guesses / hopes:

A new Metroid. (Too many hints for there not to be one.)
Virtual Boy games on 3DS.
Bayonetta 1 port.
Majora's Mask remake.
New Advance Wars game.
 
It does seem unlikely that Wii U will get any new big game announcements from Nintendo when it has all these other previously announced games that we are still waiting for news on. It's not like Wii U got any surprises from last year except for the Donkey Kong Country sequel. If any platform will get some surprises, it is going to be 3DS. Most third parties seem uninterested in doing projects for Wii U unless Nintendo is involved with funding and/or publishing.

I have hopes for X, but Zelda seems so unlikely. Unless they plan on making some sort of top down or simplified thing. I mean, outside them normally taking 4 or more years, this time it's HD development on top of that, but it would be an incredible surprise if it did make it this year.

Seems way too early. They got a month to make a video. They may have plans set, or a layout decided, but I doubt there's a finished video right now.

They have their yearly financial report/investor briefing on the 8th. So we might get some teases there. Otherwise, don't expect much.

WiiU is selling at half the rate of the Dreamcast. It's dead. No amount of software will make it profitable for Nintendo. They could have Kart, Smash, Zelda, and Metroid all this year and it would only give the system a minor uptick in sales.

They aren't going to sit on it for 3 more years I promise you because it is killing their bottom line.

They always launch consoles in the holidays.

It isn't happening this holiday and if they aren't going to sit on it for 3 more years they then it must be launching next holiday.

Couple that with the rumors we heard about new hardware from IGN, Videogamer, etc...

Yeah, WiiU is done and its successor is on the way sooner than you think. The idea that the two consoles might share games isn't out there as it has happened before with Twilight Princess.

So yeah, I do think that this is what is going to happen.

I think Nintendo's E3 is going to be rather mundane when it comes to new unknown content for the WiiU. I really hope I'm wrong but I don't think so.

3DS will probably have more new stuff to announce by a healthy margin.

And nobody would buy it. Why would they? Who is going to trust Nintendo not to drop it? Plus those rumours were proven to be complete bullshit.

No it's not. There is no legitimate evidence for a new home console. If there was new hardware, it would be a handheld. It's shocking that some people are still spouting this BS.

Nope. Never said that.

The next hardware will probably do both because home consoles are dead in Japan. Probably a handheld device with some sort of HDMI out.

But yeah, the WiiU is an epic failure and will more than likely be replaced by the end of next year.
 
I know a new console is not coming at E3 but Nintendo can't wait much longer, they're going to have to release new hardware soon and hit the ground running. They are running out of options in the console space. Unless, they have some MAJOR announcements for E3 they are going to continue to slide. A new Zelda reveal is not going to do it alone. If this E3 is as uneventful as last years, they will have officially lost it.

Here's the thing that most people really don't understand:

They can't just launch a console and that's it. It doesn't matter how powerful it is. They have to have the software for it ready, and that's impossible right now. All their teams are either hard at work on WiiU games or just finishing them up. Even if they, magically, did launch a new console this year, it would fail even harder than the WiiU.
Two years, minimum, before we see a new system. It's the only way it could work.

I didn't say they could "just launch it", which is why I said I don't expect any new hardware at E3. I'm saying they are starting to drown. I'm hoping they are much further along in the process then a lot of people here seem to think. Their thinking process is looking much like the same shit they always do. Now, that may not be the case at all, but I hope they pull some rabbits out soon.

Imo 3ds will have almost nothing new, nintendos deva have moved to wiiu

They probably got the E3 part wrong but so what? Do you honestly believe that Nintendo isn't actively looking to offer a new product and make the WiiU a distant nightmare? That's delusional thinking.

WiiU is going to get usurped and soon. It makes the Gamecube look like a homerun in the sales department. Nintendo simply can't sit on the sidelines and watch itself become irrelevant to satisfy the few people who did buy their hardware.

Nintendo is in danger of not simply losing a lot of money, they are in danger of becoming an irrelevant player in the home electronics market and then it doesn't matter what your loyal 10 million super fans will think if they kill the WiiU early.

I have one. Nintendo's games are great on it. Shame there is literally nothing else to play on it. Just promises of Indie games that have yet to arrive and a few Nintendo first party titles with no release date.

But it doesn't matter how far along the hardware might or might not be. It's the software that has to be up to snuff.
And there's no way they could have software for a launch of a brand new system ready by next year.
Not unless they announce they're buying out Namco or something.

This one comment always made laugh (in the sense that it was like you were a bystander to a really vicious fight going on) and may be the most offensive Ive seen a console manafacturer get (directly. There are more vicious but discreet attacks)

Well maybe something like that has to happen, I don't know. I do know that the WiiU has been in trouble for awhile now and they can wait and make excuses all they want but they will be screwed if their answer to everything is Mario and Zelda. That's something I don't want to see happen. I'm sure they can hold out for a little while longer but there has to be major changes to their business philosophy.
 
So we're doing the "Wii U needs to be replaced ASAP" thing now? How long before the anti-Iwata revolutionaries storm the thread?

Depends, since its not just one video. Besides Iwata moderating, trailers, interviews and possible footage from other events. Some parts could be finished, some still be made.
 
I still think a new Metroid is better than 50/50 and I'm basing that entirely on Reggie wearing the Samus pin at the GT awards back in December '13. That kind of stuff just doesn't happen by chance! 2D or 3D doesn't matter to me since I love both styles, but I do want it on Wii U.
 
I don't understand why people are already talking about another game from Retro when DK just came out two months ago. We probably won't see anything from them for a few years, even hoping for a new game is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Samus was also heavily featured in the Tomodachi Direct. I think there was also something else where they included Metroid references but I can't remember what it was. Despite that I'm not really expecting a Metroid game, but a 3DS game wouldn't surprise me much either.
 
Btw, I see Human Head getting mentioned again. I know it's been talked about, but wasn't that particular thing about the Wii U port of Batman Arkham Origins?

I just watched and it was a pretty tight presentation. My personal favourite is still this one:

E3 2010

Fantastic pacing, announcement after announcement and awesome reveals. Dat Kid Icarus. When they showed the trailer and started off with Medusa, I truly geeked out.
