Nintendo reveals first official art of new Wii U/NX Zelda

That looks nice, but I'm disappointed that Link looks so decidedly masculine compared to the E3 trailer. I was sort of hoping they would give him a more gender neutral design.

Edit: You guys see a book? I see a smartphone strapped to Link's waist. Expect to be able to interact with Zelda NX using your smart devices.

Edit 2: Seriously.

I'm calling it now: that thing is a piece of ancient future technology, just like the mechanical beast seen in the trailer.

Is this just going to be the new annoying Navi?

i prefer the design of this Link to any previous version. the little green tunic + pointy hat Link is iconic of course but this looks way cooler.

And frankly, nothing stops them from just dyeing the shirt and clothes in various colours, including green. Which would look close enough to the green tunic.

I'm more fake-annoyed by the lack of a hat. Link needs his non-helmet. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ gief hat

I would agree to this. Good call, Val.

may even mean there is a femlink option.

Maybe. But I'd still prefer an androgynous character whose gender is left up to the player to decide. I know that a femlink option would still technically give you that, but I think it makes for an even messier timeline (particularly if going forward every game has a femlink option), and I've always been a geek about Zelda's timeline.

RIP Androgylink.

Nope, sorry, some pathetic art work that we could have received back in E3 2014 isn't enough for me to still care about this game anymore. Fuck off Nintendo.

This was literally a bone they released during an investor call, lmao.

We should have expected NOTHING until they actually decide to reveal it.

You people treating this like a shitty Nintendo direct spot.

He's had that thing on his belt in previous previews. People thought it was a book, but in this art it looks more like a tablet. It's probably meant to be like an in-game version of the game pad, like the tingle tuner.

Also this game isn't giving any more of a futuristic vibe than any other Zelda. They all have robots and ancient advanced technology (especially Skyward Sword, and that game is set furthest in the past).

So would that be an indent, or a handle near the top of it? if it is a handle, wouldn't the tablet go into something?

Not that I'm surprised, but it seems nobody's bothered by the fact that it says 2017! I always thought that NX in 2016 was too good to be true, but Zelda delayed to 2017? Bummer. Let's hope it's early 2017.

Skyward Sword and Majora's Mask (neon lighting inside some of the businesses in Clock Town) are the only examples I can think of. Link's Awakening doesn't count for obvious reasons.

Huh...well that was random.

As for the picture itself, not sure what to think. Looks okay, but sketchy.

We are bothered but there's another thread for that. Lets not derail this one.

I did expect nothing. I wanted to wake up this morning and read 'no news, see you at e3 lol'

What we got instead is a complete mess and a shit show of Nintendo being run by headless chickens.

The fact this game was promised to be launched Holiday 2015, to Holiday 2016 to March 2017 is a joke. I'd rather they'd have said from the start, 'guys this game is years away so here's concept art and a trailer but don't get excited'. You'd have thought they'd have learnt by now how to handle a 30 year old series like Zelda with its fanbase.

So no, they can shove their artwork up their arse, it literally means nothing to me.

I will always hold the theory that the "Goddesses" are an advanced species of aliens and the Triforce is a very powerful, alien piece of tech that can manipulate reality, time, and space. That time portal in Skyward Sword and Fi herself was just too alien and extremely technological to me.

Skyward Sword and Majora's Mask (neon lighting inside some of the businesses in Clock Town) are the only examples I can think of. Link's Awakening doesn't count for obvious reasons.

Ocarina of Time has a jukebox and neon lights inside that bombchu minigame area.

I really do understand your pain, what with this being the first game to ever get delayed

I hope it doesn't set a precedent

Looks awesome. I'm really starting to get hyped for Ninty's E3 2016 Zelda showing. I hope we get the title, main theme, a really good luck at how the overworld works, maybe a sneak peak at a dungeon, how items will be used inside and outside of dungeons, some story tidbits, possible companion reveal, etc.

In other words, I expect a huge info blowout on this game in June. I'm fucking ready.

Very interesting that the main focus (so far) is the bow and not the Master Sword or sword as usual. The first E3 reveal showed Link jumping from the horse's back and shooting, the Game Awards reveal showed him shooting an enemy with it and now we have official art that puts the bow in front and center. I can see the title relating to that weapon

I love the artwork, as I love the artstyle seen in-game.
I don't want to derail this thread, but I have to say that despite being in love with the image, at the same time I don't care about it, due to circumnstances.

Good job on the sarcasm, 10/10.

Was more just making the point that delays are easier to swallow when we don't get stupid promises in the first place.

Like I said earlier though, I've stopped caring now so I'm glad I don't have to invest any more time or money into this series.

The snark is unnecessary, this is a particularly bad delay given the circumstances.

Eh. We've hardly seen anything from the title. The TP delays were far worse.

Never get excited for a game until you have a solid release date and it's about a few months until release. Getting hyped too early only leads to disappointment.
