Again, coming from Charlie Scibetta, Senior Director, Corporate Communications, Nintendo of America...

As you’ve already seen, a lot of news about Nintendo games and services that traditionally would be held until E3 is being delivered this year through Nintendo Directs, and various press events. This approach will continue between now and E3. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll be fully informed.

It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo hosts a Nintendo Direct that's the granddaddy of them all. Something that we know is bigger than your usual Nintendo Direct.

so basically bombs can be dropped at any time

I love Nintendo Directs so much. Such a great way of doing things, just suddenly saying "Oh there's going to be one tomorrow" and then dropping bombs.

The only Nintendo Direct that would be a megaton for me atm is the onbe where they show Retro Studios their game.

Unless those collaboration titles are something very special.

Retro Direct

Pokemon X & Y Starter Evolution Direct

Wii U: Please Don't Sell it for Booze Money Direct

Nintendo used to be like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, no news came out of there but for once a year. Nintendo Directs changed all that, for the better considerably I think. Bayonetta 2 and LttP2 means that nothing's off the limits for them pretty much.

Am I missing where you got the thread title from that quote? Sounds like "there are gonna be press events and Directs all year, there will probably be one over the next month or so", that's not really a "Nintendo says many more Directs"...

Agreed. Just cutting to the chase and announcing stuff is way refreshing. More so in our modern industry landscape, full of announcements of announcements. I appreciate Nintendo Direct a lot, too.

I dont know if I can post a GN link but Nintendo sent a PR e-mail saying 2 E3 Directs on June 11th.

This approach will continue between now and E3. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll be fully informed. We look forward to continuing to provide you with Nintendo news and content in ways you haven’t before experienced. Beyond the news that will be communicated through Nintendo Direct videos in the run up to E3, at the show itself we’re hosting two smaller events on Tuesday morning before the LACC opens instead of just our traditional one event. A media event and a partner presentation will both occur that morning. While the audiences will be different between the two events, both will occur on the Tuesday morning of E3 (June 11) which is the date and time period the public has come to expect for Nintendo to deliver E3 news.

At the Nokia theater we’ll meet with business partners (retailers, publishers, analysts, etc.) from the NOA territory and discuss our plans for driving the business and providing tailored information that this group finds useful to their operations. Nintendo has done these same type of business meetings at past E3 shows, but has not in the past few years. This year we are returning to that business partner meeting format. New this year at our booth in the LACC, prior to the show opening, we’ll invite a small group of media to play our games. We will have a strong line-up of beloved franchise experiences available for immediate hands-on play. We are continuing to consider exciting new ways to bring the news of our games and information directly to the players at home during the E3 timeframe, and will have more to say about that at a later date.”

So they can keep on saying sorry for no games on WiiU?

Cool, I prefer the Directs. They are morerelaxed than the usual E3 conferences and lets them deliver more information about their games.

Since W101 and Pikmin 3 are close to release, while Wind Waker HD is a remake, it'd be interesting if Nintendo gave each of those games an exclusive direct, in the case of the first two showing off some new environments, gameplay mechanics and touchscreen usage (particularly W101), while in the latter case demonstrating the graphical and gameplay upgrades.

I would rather have them save everything for E3.

No need.

If they were to do something like sameday demos of everything on the show floor. #gamechanger

What would make a lot of sense to me is Nintendo Directs leading up to E3 focusing on single games. That could maximize coverage and lead to a good month of hype.

Damn, now I need to pay attention to all of them to see if Sakurai shows up. :/

You completely misinterpreted that, the media event and partner event will be on June 11th, not two Nintendo Directs.

im really coming around to these directs also i never saw gaf so happy where there coming while they air and the discussion when its over

Drop them announcements Nintendo, that feeling when they say they're having a direct in a few hours, that hype train out of nowhere.
