Nintendo sells 1.2 million hardware units (400K Wii U, 300K Wii, 275K DS, 250K 3DS)

According to the Miiverse online manual, it's people that have participated in the community. So unique users.

Unique users that have posted though; not just read. No necessarily people that own the game either.

What was the last count on BLOPS2 or is it still only just able to peak above 1000?

Seems decent though just from that.
Nintendo Land bundled and allows you to post straight to Miiverse.

No doubt NSMBU sold the best as expected.
Whatever 'worried' the previous poster may be their own perception of things; e.g. performance compared to NSMBU or focus on lower selling ones.

Madden like Fifa will, will do awful.
The majority of people that buy these games are strong sports fans; they know and follow these games. We see that with Football (the one where they actually use their feet); FIFA taking over ProEv and Football Manager dominating Champ Man.

They respond more to quality than anyone else in the industry.
These games still have last years elements in them.

Whilst coming out 'after' won't help; I think thats the bigger problem.

Are you asking about the number of players online? Last week on Monday night there were around 400-500 people on if I remember correctly. Last night it was over 1,000 players so the userbase seems to be growing for the game and it seems people are starting to play other playlists other than TDM.

wasn't GameStop.com selling 8GB systems until just a few days ago? does the waiting list only apply to the 32GB?

Nope. None on their site at all now.

Oh well thats quite good then. I've seen a few things online of people having to set up lobbies for 10-15 minutes in certain game types; but once these things become more popular am sure it'll be easier to get games in other playlists.

For Miiverse, it's unique users who have "participated." I'm assuming that means posts and Yeah's.

For Blops, the Miiverse count is 11,000, I believe. The most online users I've seen is 945.

Has someone already stated in this thread the current worldwide LTD figures for Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and DS?

(Rounding up, even if generous) I'm showing something like 98mil Wii, 1.2 mil Wii U, 23 mil 3DS, and I think 154mil DS. I'd have to go check my spreadsheet on that DS number.

Don't ask me why I track this stuff, some sort of OCD quirk. I always round up by a million with the thoughts of more units are selling *right now* as i type this.

I know this is OT but has there been anything released from Sony or MS on how the PS360 sold last week? IIRC both made similar announcements last year and if they are keeping quiet, sales must have been comparatively low.

I won't ask why, but I will ask how did you reach that number?

Oh, I think I get it now.

945 players?! My god, why did this bomb so hard?

Because everyone who really cares about the series is probably playing it on the platform they've already been playing it on for years would be my guess. The Wii U version was a week late, required new hardware, and offers no compelling reason to have waited for it or purchased a second copy.

I honestly don't remember where I got that number either. It's the only questionable one I have in my chart. I'm going to google real quick. I came up with that number a week ago. Maybe it was confirmed shipped or confirmed pre orders or something.

Edit: 5 seconds of googling insinuates I mis-read an article from 2 weeks ago for games, not consoles pre-ordered. --> http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...le_those_of_the_original_Wii.php#.UKZDaOOe_yO

945 players?! My god, why did this bomb so hard?

Similar to PC players, Nintendo owners probably pay different genres of games. LoL on PC had more than 3 million concurrent users during the summer months. That is more than COD on all systems combined. I'm sure most Nintendo owners play Mario or Nintendoland.

I think being a week late really hurt. Wasn't the XBox number something like 800,000 online in the first weekend? Even if Wii U could've taken away 2% of that audience, it'd make a difference.

I think most Wii versions were million sellers. New hardware might be the biggest reason.

The MiiVerse page for Call of Duty has around 11,000 community members. In comparison, Nintendo Land has around 50,000. So that ratio isn't so bad. The amount of people playing online does seem small, but this is new (& supply constrained) hardware. No one would buy a Wii U solely because of COD, because it's on other platforms. In short, those who did buy COD are also distracted by other Wii U software, which is why those 11,000 aren't all online playing at once.

The leaderboards of CoD:Blops2, I believe, lists more than 11,000 people, also.

So, does anyone else feel like Nintendo has largely abandoned the 3DS? 2012 was pretty abysmal for first party titles aside from the Kid Icarus, New Mario Bros. 2 and Paper Mario. I was excited for Luigi's Mansion and Castlevania but now those are fairly far off, and what else is there? I feel like this has been the worst second year of a Nintendo system so far.

I don't know man. I didnt buy but 3 games for the 3DS this year. Tales, Theatrhythm, and today I got NSMB 2.

By comparison, I already have 9 Vita games, and 3-4 more on the wishlist.

...buuuuuuttt... I wouldn't call it a bad year at all, because it simply came down to Paper Mario and Icarus not being my thing.

When you think how the system has only been out what... 1.5 years? and we already have two major marios, mario kart, paper mario, kid icarus, zelda remake, starfox remake, and some other first party games that other people beside me take note of.... I think Nintendo has done a great job supporting their baby.

For 2012 releases, Layton was my favorite game so far on the system. It might not be for everyone, but it's a great puzzler with high production values. It's not getting the love it deserves -- but maybe part of why I'm so fond of it is I'm completely new to the series.

Also for 2013 you left out Animal Crossing which is a pretty big game (and already massive in Japan). There's also Fire Emblem and with Luigi and Castlevania also expected for early 2013, that's not a bad list.

But I do agree they've been quiet on the 3DS front. It's like you can tell that Nintendo isn't quite as big of a company as their ambitions are. I think they can only focus on one platform at once. When 3DS needed a push, they ignored the Wii. Now that U needs some love, 3DS is on the backburner. At least for now.

Yeah! Though I'd have to assume the next wave of 3DS titles will be announced soon. There's not many first party titles left coming that we know of.

I bought 11 3DS games this year and still haven't picked up Mario Tennis, KH3D, NSMB2, Layton, or Paper Mario. It's been a fine year for the 3DS and nowhere near one of the worst.

True, Nintendo has been oddly quiet about anything after the first half of 2013. We'll have to just wait and see what they're bringing to the table. Most important to the line-up this year will definitely be localization though, especially when you consider the complete lack of support for the 3DS from western publishers. I'm interested to see if Nintendo can win even a small amount of that support back. The Conduit is the only notable western title outside the first half of 2013 and we don't even know if the game is back in production...

Yes. CrashMo isn't going to cut it. Nintendo really needs to expand. They can't support two platforms like this.

They already started. According to Shikamaru Ninja NCL has hired 1200 new employees for their new R&D building in kyoto which should be opening up around january. But I agree they should have done this sooner

Not for me. In the last few months I've played Professor Layton, NSMB2, Paper Mario, Night Sky, Crashmo, and Cave Story off the eshop. That's more than enough gaming to keep me busy. In fact I haven't even finished all these yet. I think Nintendo have done a pretty good job supporting the 3ds so far except the initial software slump and the lack of AC this holiday. Whether the 3ds line up is hitting your tastes or not is a different question but quality games are there.

I think they were right to stick with the Wii name, but made a mistake calling it "Wii U" and making the console itself look rather similar. I don't think people even know what's going on, they think it's a "Wii thing" and not a new console.

Should have been named the "Wii Tú" and as you said not looked so similar to the OG Wii.

The reason why Tú is so brilliant, for those unaware, is that it stands for "you" in Spanish, but also, when spoken, sounds like the number "two" in English. Basically, it fulfills the role of being "Wii 2" and "Wii U" all at the same time. Also, "Tú" is a relatively easy sound to make no matter what your native tongue happens to be.

While I personally don't like the name I think the bigger issue is the console's design. It's unprecedented to have a follow up console look so similar to the original. Most of us believed that Nintendo would have realized this after the confusion with the 3DS but it doesn't seem to be the case.

As someone noted in the Wii Mini thread that console looks more distinctive from the original Wii than the WiiU which is just... crazy when you think about it.

*snorts derisively* Hoho maybe not for you friend. Also, the "mo" is not part of a compound, it's just one word; "Crashmo". You're welcome. I shall now return to my blissful utopia of falling blocks. Or I should say "blox". I'm European you see.

New 3DS advert is just Mario Kart 7. Again. If that isn't telling of the threadbare 3DS holiday lineup, I don't know what is. "Here's a new color!" Nobody cares.

Isn't LoL F2P and also capable of running on a ridiculously larger number of PCs?

I'm trying to finish the single player before I jump into multiplayer. Seems a lot of people in the Miiverse Community are doing the same.

Hows their 3DS output compared to their Wii output? It's a fair comparison since development costs are similar.

Oh, haha. I may be way late on this since I haven't popped in here in awhile, but I just noticed my tag change hahaha
