Yeah that massive bandwidth and raster performance of a 60W 8nm 2013 era hardware is surely going to have tons of beefy headroom for state of the art upscaling similar to a $2000 GPU

There's a lot we don't know yet but I always imagined this is the way Nintendo should go with a system like the Switch. To have modest graphical capabilities in handheld mode, and extra hardware being used in docked mode to produce stable frame rates and higher resolutions. This could take the form of higher clock speeds when in docked mode, which I believe was what the Switch was doing, or extra hardware on the dock for scaling and better performance.OMG, holy shit, WTF, I cannot imagine how sharper those few pixels will be when I play either looking at a 7" screen in handheld, or sitting a few meters away from the TV!

Next gen, if a console manufacturer goes with AMD, the other should go with Nvidia, the one with the deeper pockets. It's getting ridiculous how good Nvidia is getting at AI.
This coupled with extra cost for the dock (not included) would be pretty good idea to keep the handheld-only SKU at a lower price. My worry is Nintendo will think this will be super confusing for people, especially if you call it Switch 2. So many will assume the TV functionalities are the same as with OG Switch.

They think it's likely but not certain that it will use 8nm. But they also thought it was likely but not certain that PS5 Pro was using 6nm. So their informed speculation doesn't count as confirmation of anything. The reason for thinking that Nintendo will use a newer Samsung process is due to the T239 being too large to be reasonably clocked down on 8nm, based on current Orin parts. DF think that Samsung/Nvidia will have redesigned the process/architecture to be more power efficient on 8nm, making it viable. But unless they have actual insider knowledge, that's just speculation.

I think they already confirmed the power socket is different. Nintendo would never pass the chance to sell you more plastic, if it comes down to it there will be no performance boost but they will sell the dock separately.

Why would you do that ? Switch 2 will stream the pictures directly into your mind. You can get rid of your TV.
Old Jedi Survivor on base PS5 with FSR and RT. Good luck with RT on Switch 2. This was pre-patch resolution he's using. After the patch that removed RT the internal resolution was 1080p then upscaled.
Plus JE has an overall issue with IQ even on PC with Ultra and DLSS quality. Not an example you wanna bring up in good faith.
