I'm really glad I held off on this console.
Might wait for the first revision.
Not a bad idea considering they have a history of releasing revisions with handhelds.

Wait was that actually confirmed?
"There will surely be a Direct".
That will forever be a real topic and a real thing people thought was gonna happen.
I 100% assumed you could copy save data wherever you wanted. Didn't even cross my mind you wouldn't be able to.
Wake me in a year when Nintendo has all this straightened out, then I might pick up a Switch.
I don't see what the problem with this. If your save corrupts it just means you get to experience the beauty of Switch games again.
This is just frustratingly stupid. It's a really cool system except for all these nagging issues that could have been seemingly avoided with ease. You would think after the Wii U never getting off the ground, Nintendo would be dotting all their i's and crossing all their t's with the Switch and not letting all these issues pile up.
You can't remotely deauthorise the active Switch (but Nintendo can). You need to go into a menu and deactivate it before tying your account to a new one.Wait, so the account system is still useless? I heard that it would work during today's GiantBomb stream.
Nintendo just doesn't get it and does stuff like this on purpose.
Why would that require writable memory? The unique card ID is checked on a server. If it's been redeemed already, the server recognises that.
I don't follow.
cloud saves are coming
People keep saying this. Are you an insider who got that information directly from Nintendo?
just hoping , doesn't make sense not to have it

Guess everyone who buys a Switch is never planning on upgrading to a new, lighter, smaller, more powerful, longer lasting version in a couple of years either, or if they do, they must just be fine with losing all their game data when they do.
Man part of me hopes there's some massive system wide fault that requires people to replace their system, just so Nintendo has to address this issue or face millions of angry Zelda owner losing their 70 hours of gameplay. Well, time will tell.

I wouldn't be too worried about that. I'm sure Nintendo will have a similar system to the 3DS where you set aside an afternoon to transfer your content from one console to another at incredibly low speeds (but with cute Pikmin animations!).
I have some bad news for you. The Wii U's been out for over four years. It has the same absurd problem, and it always will. Nintendo wants it this way, for unjustifiable reasons. Don't count on Nintendo to "straighten it out" with Switch. To them, nothing is in need of fixing.
Knowing them it's to prevent piracy. But shit like this doesn't work and they only end up fucking with the costumer experience.I wonder if it's an attempt to prevent user-edited save files from creating overflows, or just a lack of foresight.

That is exactly what just happened to me.This is so shit. Need replacing your unit for whatever reason? Have fun losing your 50 hours of progress in Zelda. This NEEDS to be fixed.
Same shit as the vita, but at least they had cloud saves from day 1.
Let me get this right. If I save a game to the 32GB internal memory.... Do I have an option to transfer it to my sd card?
I don't believe you can, in any way.Okay so I can transfer or not?
Okay so I can transfer or not?

The Switch will prioritize external storage if it's available but if something gets installed or saved internally, you have no way of moving it right now.
Wait, does this mean if the save is on a Micro SD I can never change the Micro SD card without losing the save? I guess it should still work if you copy all the data to a new one right? I guess.... Maybe. This whole thing is crazy. Never expected something like this would be missing

You can have multiple cards without issue, to my knowledge.
I'm sure backing it up and copying to a larger card would work too.
No no no no. The save is not on the SD card. The game itself can be downloaded to the SD card, but the save is always on the internal memory.
The game would probably prompt you to make space.Yeah that must work. Makes the idea of preventing piracy moot though doesn't it? If you can access the SD card and edit the save that way it could still lead to hacks. Just a really pointless oversight I guess
Edit:
Now I'm confused. What if the internal memory is full? You just can't ever save?

No surprise there.
May the homebrew artisans save us from this stubborn decision (3DS save managers saved my ass multiple times).
